Chester had his first lot of vaccinations (c3) at 7 weeks, and we just took him for his second lot, on the exact date the breeder said, today, and he had a C5 on reccomendation from the vet as he will be starting puppy school wednesday night. Anyway, the vet said he will need another lot in 4 weeks. Is this right? I just don't remember anything from the breeder saying he needed three lots, just the two. Is it still ok to take him on walks and to the dog beach now that he has had his second lot? So confusing!! We also got him wormed again and a flea treatment (advantage) which the vet put on for us, and he will start on comfortis in a month! Thank you! Oh, she also said he needs to lose a bit of weight! We can feel his ribs, but apparently he doesn't have much of a waist.. He is 14kg at 11 weeks.

Comfortis, Can You Break It In Half?
Aztec Gold replied to Aztec Gold's topic in General Dog Discussion
OOOoohh great! Thanks guys!! I shall buy him some!! We are getting his second vaccination today and will buy an Advantage tube ($19) to do him for the next four weeks, and then will start him on comfortis! Thank you -
We still haven't got Chester a flea product yet. We want to start taking him to the inlaws place with us, but their three dogs usually have fleas. Would comfortis protect him? And if so, could we get the 27-54kg ones and cut them in half until he is over 27kg? Would this work? He is around 12-13kg at the moment (11 weeks)

My Friend Is Selling Her Husky :(

I'm 90% sure he is from a registered breeder. I think someone in NSW. She was originally after a grey one with blue eyes, but I think the pup she got is more reddish. I know she was looking for one for a few months before she found one, and paid a pretty penny for him. She's selling him for less than half of what she paid. I just hope he goes to a good home!! -

gsdog2, I've seen that posted on facebook, and even more ironically on her page LOL!! I guess she thinks she is doing the right thing for her family, given her situation, I have no idea. She has an alaskan malamute, he's a few years old I think, and she's keeping him which is great. Hmm.. I will look into that rescue. Do they help out with puppies for sale, or only free to good home ads? -
My Friend Is Selling Her Husky :(

She said she hasn't because she doesn't want to have to go through all the flight stuff again.. It's so sad... She's such a lovely person, I'd hate for her to regret the decision, he seems like such a lovely pup -
My Friend Is Selling Her Husky :(

I'm not sure... I will ask her!! Thanks! -
My friend bought a purebred husky pup from the mainland (we are in Tas), and is now selling him as she has another baby on the way and has another dog to look after aswell. Does anyone know if there are any husky rescue groups or anything in Tassie? Or anything I could suggest to make her change her mind? I know I should mind my own business, but she seemed so excited and happy when he came, and it seems a pity to sell him at such a young age (4 months). Thank you

Will give the necks a miss, thanks guys. Someone on here suggested frames so we grabbed some! This puppy food thing isn't easy hey!

After my last thread, I used the advice, and this is now Chester's diet (10 week golden) Brekkie: one cup of black hawk adult, tablespoon yoghurt and a tablespoon of either sardines or mackeral Lunch: a chicken frame Tea: chicken necks (usually 3 or 4) and a cup of black hawk, with a raw egg every few days Does this sound ok? Anything you would change? If we can, sometimes tea is mince with kibble instead of necks.

I feel like Chester has taken a step back with toilet training He averages two pees inside a day and has never pooed inside until ten minutes ago. We try to take him out every hour roughly, but when its just me at home with him and the two kids it can be hard. When my partner is home, things go much better. He only wet once inside yesterday, it was great! Does anyone have any similar experiences to share? How long roughly does it take them to learn? He can go up to 4-5 hours of a night before he has to toilet! Thanks

Need Info On Why Not To Randomly Stud Out A Dog.
Aztec Gold replied to mr.mister's topic in General Dog Discussion
My mother in law wants us to let Chester have a litter of pups with any breed of female! She thinks desexing is stupid and that breeders only sell limited register pups so that others don't make any money off breeding with them!! She was so angry that we paid more than $100 for a dog, and got furious when she found out how much he actually cost. She has three dogs, all small cross bred fluffies and all are entire and have never been to a vet in their life and all very much need to. And she wonders why we declined her offer to take Chester around to their place (5 minutes away) to play!! He will definitely have his next lot of needles and a flea prevention before he goes anywhere near them!! -
OMG for real?? I never knew so many Borzois were here!!!! I wanna pat them all!!!!!! most of these belong to Alyosha, she has a litter on the ground at the moment, and I got to pat them all the other weekend :D There are photos of them in the sighthound thread Oooohhh I shall go and have a peek!!! Are Frozen Chicken Necks Ok?
Aztec Gold replied to Aztec Gold's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I don't really think he got constipated, he is fine this morning, just yesterday while watching him poo, it took him a good minute or two to get it all out, very solid poo. I'm just stressing I guess Thank you! I thought it might be bad for his teeth as a frozen neck is quite hard!! Glad to know he can eat them!! Thank you!! -

Awww I'm so glad Wilbur's first night went well He's such a cutie!! And LOL at him jumping on your partner's head!!!!!!! -
Chester (9 week old golden retriever) LOVES chicken necks. If he eats a fresh one its gone in about 3-5 bites, roughly 4 seconds. Half frozen is gone in about 15 seconds, and frozen is about 3 minutes and lots of chewing. But is it ok for him to have a frozen one? Will it hurt at all? Also, we gave him 3 the other day and it kind of constipated him a small bit, like he took a lot longer doing his business than normal. Will this get better with time or do we have to kind of get him used to eating them? Thank you!
