Not sure if this is the place for it but I've got to get my Dog's elbows and hips done as well as his DNA testing and his eyes tested. I'm looking for vets who do this in Canberra and roughly how much it's going to cost so I know how much it's going to be. Any help would be great.

Canberra And Surrounds Dol Meet (with Furkids)
Iskiea replied to kaywoman68's topic in General Dog Discussion
Don't know if I'll be able to make it.. I have the day off but no way of getting out there as I don't have my license. -
It might be looking good but just pray it's not like today.. Lately in Canberra we have had stunning days which then end in rain in the afternoon, or we just skip that and have massive storms.. not pleasant at all. But yes fingers crossed for the weather.. It was too hot today and just came down with rain.
-
Well I'll look at trying to get there around 7am.. I like being there early gives time to settle in. Lovely I can't wait.
-
Lovely.. I'll get there early even though I'm not on until 10am.. That way I'll be there before you guys go on.

Thanks Diva for the offer.. Rebanne Thank you very much, the madder they are the better the company I say. It'll just my myself and my Aussie boy.. Hopefully before the next show comes around I can invest in a show trolley but that might be a way off.. oh dear.. I have a busy year ahead of me. The company sounds absolutely lovely.. You'll have to let me know how to find you guys..

Well not sure where else to post this.. But I suppose it's a big favour I'm hoping for.. This will be my second lot of shows in Canberra and due to unforseen circumstances I'm gazeboless.. So I'm asking if anyone has the room and is willing to put up with me and my Aussie puppy on Saturday. I'm in the Royal and the Aust Breeds show in the afternoon, so if anyone can put me up for the day that would be fantastic..
-
Hahaha.. I suppose that's when you pray..
-
Thank you very much.. I was stumped myself on how to do it. Thank you.
-
It might be a silly question but how do you fill out an entry as a joint owner.. Do you just put one name in the first name section and one in the last... how do you do it?

I wanted to post this up, It was myself and my boy Riot's very first show ever this recent weekend past. Even though we ran second the whole weekend we had just such amazing fun. I wanted to put a big thank you up here to all those who chatted with me, gave advice, support and in general were there for me. The amazing support and kindness I felt really made me feel so welcome and the encouragement really helped to easy my nerves. So from Riot and myself I want to say a big thank you to everyone who made my first show experience an amazing one and I hope to see some of you at future shows. I know I certainly cannot wait for my next shows and for you all to see the progress Riot and I make as we learn about the ring and showing together. ~Stephanie & Riot [brandyark Take Back The City (AI)]

Canberra And Surrounds Dol Meet (with Furkids)
Iskiea replied to kaywoman68's topic in General Dog Discussion
Aww Thanks Saxonpup; he is pretty gorgeous but I'm his mum so I'm biased to that. Well this weekend I'm working.. 11-7pm saturday and 10-7pm on sunday. I get every second weekend off and next weekend Riot and I are at our first show. Depending on if I am doing anything saturday morning if there is a meet before 11am which gives me enough time to get up to Charnwood Woolworths where I work then I am in.. Same for sunday morning. Edit: My shifts are now 8am-4pm Saturday and 7am-4pm Sunday instead as I was needed in another department.. so anytime after 4pm should work on either days if that is okay. -

Is anyone interested in another meet? I have my puppy now and he's adorable, so we're looking at getting out to meeting some new people.. -
Beth24- That would be lovely, can't wait to see the pictures.

I'm entering my first show on the 10th/11th December and I'm looking for something to wear. I'm around a 8/10 in size.. I'm in Canberra so something to suit the weather and a blue merle puppy would work..
-
Riot is an Australian Shepherd, well he's in my arms now and with us.. Will be putting pictures up soon for him for you all.
-
Two more days.. or well less than that.. I pick up my little man Riot on Tuesday.. Doing half the journey to get him and staying the night with friends to break up the trip.. In the last few days I bought him, two bowls, a collar and lead.. Also have some shampoo and he now has Mr Duck and Mr Rabbit to keep him company on the journey as well as two fleece balls I made him. I am waaaay beyond excited and cannot wait.. just have to get through work tomorrow

Wish me luck everyone, I have had some wonderful friends who adore dogs step up and want to move in with me. Between the three of us we have agreed to consistent training and plenty of spoiling.. in the right way of course. Hopefully things will go better living with mates rather than strangers. I'm calling a few places tomorrow so fingers crossed guys we get the one at the top of our list. -

So the house hunting begins ^.^ wish me luck everyone.. I've found a few pet friendly places.. it's just getting to see them and approved for them ^.^ I reckon it's time I took care of myself and looked after my needs ^.^ If anyone in Canberra knows of a pet friendly place looking for someone or knows of a place pet friendly I can rent I would love to know. Yeah I think the only reason why I survived my year and a half was because I was in a steady relationship then... but it is definitely not the same without a dog around. I definitely cannot live without one in my life ^.^. -
First He Said A Dog Was Okay, Then He Changed His Mind
Iskiea replied to Iskiea's topic in General Dog Discussion
Hi everyone, Thank you so much for all your replies. Mostly the reason why I moved to this place was because it was pet friendly, and he was more than open to having a dog [having had dogs himself] providing the other housemates were fine with it. Well the other one is more than happy with it but it all started the moment he had to be involved with the adopting process at the RSPCA then it was a complete change of tune.. It also ended up with the suggestion.. hey why don't you get a kitten instead.. I'm starting to see though as much as I love it here having animals is most important to me, I've lived a year and a half without having a dog and I don't think I could ever do it again.. Moving back with my parents is out of the question.. [i can't get along with them in the same house anymore sadly ] So I'm going to be house hunting again, which will make another move for me in 6 months.. but for a dog I would do anything. It also means if I can get a place to rent it'll be more my place than moving into someone elses ^.^ As much as I want to stay here because it is so very awesome a place.. I think to be truly happy I may have to move. ^.^ -
First He Said A Dog Was Okay, Then He Changed His Mind
Iskiea replied to Iskiea's topic in General Dog Discussion
No sorry... it's my room mate.. Just realised I should have clarified it more -
Any ideas anyone on how to convince him. My other room mate is fine. The one who we are renting from [his mother is the house owner said she was more than happy for me to get a dog] was all for it too in the beginning. We were going to adopt a dog from the RSPCA but they required everyone in the house to meet the dog before they could proceed with the application, the moment we mentioned to him that he had to come down with us and meet the dog after we had he suddenly changed his tune. Started going down the, but the dog will just tear up the house route, will pee everywhere and make the house stink, put fur everywhere, how it will destroy the house and the backyard. What will happen to the dog if I leave the house, what will happen to the dog when I move out. He's suddenly paranoid and believes that he will have to take care of the dog and that I won't be able to take care of it. Now I work full time, pay my rent, clean up after myself. I would through hell and high water to keep my dog with me, I would make sure I have a pet friendly place to move into before I move out. I'm a person who puts an animals needs before my own, my dog would be well fed and well taken care of. I may have a car loan to pay off but I still have enough money spare to cover vet bills and food. Plus my tax return gives me more of a buffer on my savings. I would also train the dog well, make sure it had enough exercise and toys to not become destructive. Pee is easy enough to clean out of the carpet and removing the smell is easy too. I'll vacuum everyday if I have to.. I'm not sure how to convince him, considering he was all okay with it in the beginning and more than happy about it, but if he had to be involved all of a sudden he baulked and changed his tune.. Any tips? Clarification.. This is my room mate I'm talking about.. he's sort of the landlord considering we are renting from him. His mother is overseas for the year and has let him rent the rooms. She's fine with me getting one and more than happy to, he was at first but now he's changed his mind.
