Lens Filters! What Do You Use?
Juddabug Whippets replied to Juddabug Whippets's topic in Photos, Photos, Photos
Very true! Yes I use lens hoods! Always.... Doesn't stop long noses licking the lenses though! As for filters... I have a Marumi UV filter on my 70-200mm f4... But have heard about if you use cheap filters it lessens your photo quality! I guess I need to take two identical pictures with and without filters to see the difference! It's that age old question I guess! -
With getting a new piece of expensive glass, one wants a good filter to protect the lens from scratches, smudges, dirt etc. What do you prefer? There are so many choices and twice as many brands! Do you just use a lens protector? UV filter? CPL? DHG? What are good brands and which ones should be avoided? Marumi, Kenko, Hoya etc? Anyone got a preference? Do you prefer to use nothing on your lens? Happy to hear all thoughts and opinions! MnDM

Just gorgeous! You really aren't helping my love and resistance of getting a lappie pup!

Yes.... I'm confused! Is it one photo submitted per fortnight? But three photos per theme therefore taking 6wks to submit?

Yeah! Today was crazy busy..., I'm working all week.... Kill me now I say!
-
I just wanted to take the opportunity, as I'm working tomorrow, to wish all of you a very merry Christmas and a happy new year! Thank you for all of your help, guidance, laughs and critiques this year... It has been fun! Bring on 2013! As I'm working tomorrow, we opened pressies tonight and I was so lucky to receive a manfrotto monopod, a guide to Lr4 as well as an Adobe Photoshop course all fully paid for! The puppies and kitties have all opened theirs too. I am so stoked... And so excited for 2013! I hope you all have a lovely day tomorrow.... For those of you working... I'll be there with you! MnDM

I made it to week 32 or 36 I think.... So had over 120 photos :)
-
Ahh thank you snook! It came to save time and I knew I needed the jpeg to put it on fb! Bugger... Unless I redo it it will stay as it is!
-
Yeah I only use LR4....
-
Gremlins

Oh trying to get all four is impossible! Usually only ever get one per photo to do what you want! Plus it was a tight spot where I shot, so all four wouldn't have fit! Yeah I thought about textures! With PS how do you save them so all your layers can be undone... Or is that unable to be done? I saved the first one with text, then realised it would be better on left side but it was saved as jpeg... I gather that's the issue!
-
THanks CC! TLC - I have PS5, and it has content aware fill! I tried it a little bit... but after doing a 4 shot composite... to be honest I was well and truly over PS! LOL The beam is actually the door frame and yes I agree now it would better removed... but at the time... gah! Glad you like them!
-
Hey guys! Well this was a biggie for me... I made my first ever composite... using FOUR photos!!! This was for our Christmas card..... and my first ever real time playing with PhotoShop! This is the original Thoughts?? My partner liked this 'preset' for the old childrens book look... so it became our Christmas card! MnDM Edit: Flickr is hating me and not showing my photos.... will be back to hopefully show you soon!

Yeah I have the Black rapid double and it splits down to a single. I'd go for the BR Sports... it's brilliant. Unless you get the 20-700mm f2.8 or larger, you won't have a tripod lens mount to worry about with your camera.... it mounts to the base of your camera, and it works with a grip! You can get all sorts of attachments and things for tripods etc etc.... I think it is money well spent as the strap makes your life a bit easier!
-
He is just Gorgeous Mark!
-
:) pohutukawa blossoms...... I miss em! The signal that Christmas is near! Do you have the yellow ones in Auckland?
-
Way to go guys! Next year I think I'll just make it one dog... Doing 4 per week got too hard... Then it all slipped.... But loving all your photos!
-
He is super cute! Pomeranian?
