  5. Gapvic, this photo is just beautiful! OMG, I love the doggy, but I'm just in love with the whole photo!! You are getting really good at these selfies. Wondering where this is taken... we're not far from you and sometimes I'd love to just go photograph the dogs in one of the surrounding paddocks!

  8. I'm taping it now as the OH wants to watch the footy... Yeah I agree I was expecting more competence.... But maybe that's half the fun!?
  9. Oh Annie, cowboy in that play bow is gorgeous! He has a lot of love for you, you can see it in his eyes! He's such a happy boy in these photos!
  10. That's awesome TLC! Yes the non IS is MUCH Cheaper! Can't wait to see your photos!
  11. Crazy! The monarch looks like fabric! Nice shot!
  12. Yeah TLC, all my beach shots and whippet racing shots are all done with the 70-200mm f4. Mine doesn't have the IS and I've not found it any issue. When shooting dogs running, you're using such a fast shutter speed that i dont think you need the IS. I'm not looking to upgrade this lens at all to the f2.8, I don't see the need as I shoot outdoors! You won't regret it... I just find I want something with a bit more reach! But as the dogs race in a circle I use mostly the 70-100mm portion of my lens to capture them, and crop if I need to.
  13. Yeah TLC, you can pick up the 50mm f1.8 at JB HiFi for around $100 too. I love it, and couldn't convince myself that to start with the extra expense of the 50mm f1.4 was worth it! Not to mention it's cheap! I purchased my camera bodies through Kogan! As that was around the time that imports were being picked up from DWI and taxes charged. I have a 8gb and 32gb card. My 32gb gives me about 1200 shots when shooting RAW, and on a whippet race day I've been known to take 900+ photos, as it's all high speed continuous. I just plug my camera into the computer... I don't think opening it up to get the CF card is any faster, and I prefer not to move cards too much (just a personal opinion). As now I use my iMac for editing, the cord is always plugged in. I agree with Kirislin, I purchased my camera for the same reason as her... to capture high speed whippets - and they are bloody fast! It does do a brilliant job of this with it's 8fps. Though initially a photographer friend did recommend that I go for the 5D for the full frame capacity. :)
  14. I love the 7D, I know I'll upgrade to the new 5 Mark III in a while, once they iron out the gremlins!
  15. LOL! See this is where it starts to get tricky!!!
  16. Hey TLC, It depends what you use your camera for mostly. I use the 70-200mm f4 for capturing the whippets when they are racing and I have used it a little at work too. I love this lens! It is the non IS. At 8fps, and the high speed of my subjects I just couldn't rationalise spending the extra $700 for IS. I also find that I use the 50mm f1.8 also for catching the dogs zooming around the backyard where the 70mm doesn't allow me to get back far enough. It is also great for indoor shots. I have been tossing up for a while to get an in-between lens and also a big one! Thinking the 100-400mm for my biggie... but that might be a little while away yet. I got to play with Kirislin's 17-85mm and I quite like it... and am giving it some serious though. It was f3.6-5.6 from memory, or was it f3.6-4? But I always wondered if I did get a 17-85mm do I really need the 50mm? I have read that people like the 'primes' as they feel they shoot crisper photos... hmmmn, back to the books I go! :)
  17. Hi TLC, thank you for your comments! Yes I do love Lightroom! It is awesome! :) Thank you to everyone who put me onto it, and my lovely OH who purchased the full version for me for our Anniversary last week! Monet and Diva's racing photos are with my 70-200mm f4, but all the others were the 50mm f1.8 in the backyard! :) MnDM
  18. Yes we got a Pedi-paws and with the whippet nails the grinder stops when there is too much pressure, but takes FAR too long to trim enough off. So much so the dogs get very annoyed with it stopping and starting! So I've resorted back to clipping the nails... but might give the dremel a crack!
  19. Week 22 22/52 - Monet - look at that happy face 22/52 - Diva - ditto happy face 22/52 - Benson 22/52 - Juddy plays tug-o-war Now I think I'm up to speed.... just hoping for some more sunshine and rain free days so we can go outdoors and not freeze! MnDM
  20. Okay, I've got my full Lightroom now (had a week without it! *sob*) and now I'm playing catch up! Week 21 21/52 - Monet (in blue) 21/52 - Diva checks out the action whilst keeping warm 21/52 - Benson 21/52 - Juddy MnDM
