  1. My blood is boiling reading this. The fact that this "Rescue" is abusing people's emotions and asking for public donations on a stolen horse they refused to return to the rightful owners really makes me very angry. I'm so glad the owner got her mare back.
  2. Yes that's the one... that horse is to die for! Flaxen tail too, pretty pretty animal!
  3. Maya is eight months old now and so big and beautiful (slight bias? :p) We had fun at the beach yesterday and there are also a few pictures from when we were out walking last week. Maya is such an avid swimmer... for a moment here I thought she was headed for one of the islands, but she recalled She was deep enough here that I would have had to swim. Zeke and Maya chasing coconuts at the beach Happy puppy at the foreshore! The downside to being a waterdog is that Maya thinks of fountains as perfectly acceptable places to swim... Sage looks comfy curled on the couch.. And the babies look like proper mice now! The whole litter are Longcoat Rex, so super fluffies, though the double Rexes do tend to have a less full coat than the single rexes. My pale coloured babies wound up being mostly Siamese Foxes, with one Dove and one Dove Tan, so a nice variation of colours in this litter. The Dove female. She has a fabulous coat texture! One of the Black Tan boys, starting to show lovely belly colour now At five weeks old the Siamese start to colour up nicely, the body getting paler while the points show through.
  4. !!! That first palomino!!! Speechless. And the perlino (?) second photo... his eye captivates me! The third photo... little filly? Is she a silver dapple? Stunning colour!
  5. Beautiful photos! And subjects, too. Doesn't that bay in the first post have a perfect diamond star? I'm in love with the first flaxen chestnut second post, too. That mane! Do you have a full-body photo of that one? :)
  6. What an awful thing to happen. Rest sweet little man.
  7. Yes :) More hints? This is one of the rarer colours.
  8. Nope Mix! Nope Esky  Maya is WAY fluffier than that, however, I spotted the picture in a fellow Anatolian-owning friend's Fb this morning and was introduced to the breed :)
  9. r8chel I hope things have gone well for you. Your boy sounds like quite a territorial and aggressive dog, these problems have cropped up now because of his rising hormone levels, and yes, the lesser attention you say he has had lately, could be contributing. In Rocky APBT's are a restricted breed, (laws state they must be microchpped, muzzled in public, and desexed). I get the impression from reading your posts that your OH might be the one who didn't want to get him desexed. Please have a talk to him about it if this is the case. Working away you are the main one working with your dog, and you are the one being affected. I think desexing will help - not a magic fix, but helpful. I fully agree with others, your boy needs be be assessed by a behavourialist. I hope it works out and you're able to work with him and settle him down. Fingers crossed for a happy ending for you guys.
  10. Will be at work all day, but will check here ASAP when I get home :)
  11. Maya has begun to get a bit more vocal in the past few months. On one hand, she is doing what comes naturally as a LGD, but on the other, I would like my neighbors to be able to walk from their car to their stairs without Maya alerting us to the fact :) I do not want to stop her from barking, she is a great guard dog, but nor would I like my neighbors to complain as there are some new ones I don't know well just moved in beside us. My goal is to work on letting Maya know the situation is in hand and does not require barking at. When Maya barks, I recall her and praise her for coming. This is enough to stop the barking 95% of the time. If she continues to bark while at my feet I tell her enough and praise for quiet. James however has less patience than me and sometimes will yell out the window when Maya is barking... do not see this as being helpful. Does anybody have tips for training to manage barking a little better or another approach I could try?
  12. With the whole ear being bitten of, I would class this as a savage mauling... not sure what your point is here? A very salient point chris the Rebel Wolf. The criteria for qualification as a dangerous dog in Victoria is a victim sustaining injuries that require surgery or death. In NSW a dog can be declared dangerous just for stomping in front of anothr dog, muzzle punching an overzealous admirer, or nipping some idiot who wants to run around and not share the footpath while a dog is out walking. A more discerning mind set needs to prevail in NSW. That is craziness! What a huge gap. I would want somebody walking behind me with a camera, if I were walking my dogs in NSW.
  13. Looks dry to me :p *grin* Nonono, it's a Waswetterhound. It was wet, and the fur dried into all the curls!
  14. Friends of mine have a young bull arab x pup - usually he is the most outgoing and friendly of dogs. At the dog park he is outgoing and friendly to people and dogs alike, nicest nature you'll ever see. Last week when he heard an attempted break in by the fence, he stood over his owner who was in bed, growling and guarding them. Behavior when defending the home tuft can be radically different to 'everyday' behavior.
  15. Fully agree. I too, hope the dog who was attacked was okay, and that the boy makes a full recovery. With the whole ear being bitten of, I would class this as a savage mauling... not sure what your point is here?
