  1. They're banned in NZ too, I have met a couple of them. One bitch had a really lovely owner and was a lovely sociable girl, the other you could not have paid me to go near, owner didn't look like a nice guy either! Certainly not doing good things for the breed, but I've heard plenty of people at the park mention how lovely the bitch is.
  2. Oooh fishing line is a pretty good idea, will at least save me putting too many holes in my wall haha
  3. Anyone here have any great ways of displaying ribbons other than just pinning them all to a wall? Must be some inventive ideas out there! I saw a great display at a show, but it was a bit small, was a wooden plaque where your dog's name was inscribed and behind it there was a little rail on which you hung ribbons. There was only enough room for maybe 5 ribbons though. Feel free to post photos of your ribbon collections/walls/displays! :)
  4. Ahhhhh so cute!! Thanks for sharing!
  5. Some of the breed specialties I've been to have had quite a few pet owners instead of the usual show people, so they may not own suits.
  6. Hi guys, asking this on behalf of the NZ agility team who are heading over to compete in Brisbane next year at the Australian Agility Nationals. They are really keen to see if they can hire a dog trailer or two to transport their dogs in. If you want to know more/get in touch please send me a PM.
  7. Asking on behalf of the NZ agility team going to Aus next year for nationals... Does anyone have a dog trailer they can lend to the NZ agility team?
  8. I look for any smooth haired terrier/collie mixes described as naughty... Then I want them so much <3
  9. Mini schnauzers, jack russells and huskies & mals are popular in my area (suburban).
  10. There is a tennis club right next to a park we frequent so Elsie always has tennis balls at the park, she trots off to the bushes and brings them out. Last night she had 8 of them, I thought it was a bit over the top so I threw them back over the fence (much to her disgust).
  11. Elsie has gotten weird about drinking from a particular bowl, and someone had the exact same bowl at a show and she happily drank from that one. I've cleaned it thoroughly and tried placing it in different areas.
  12. I've really been struggling the last few months, though just started a new job this week so looking forward to having some cash! I pay my essentials (rent, transport) then pretty much everything else goes towards dog expenses... Food, shows, insurance... I will miss topping up my cellphone for a week or two sometimes if I am really strapped, and I don't buy food or drinks for myself when I am out, would rather go hungry.
  13. Some photos from our run! (still looking for video!)
  14. We have a couple of classes which encourage playing it safe, AD and ADX classes. If you get enough clear rounds in those you get some titles, but in standard classes its all about being fast (and accurate of course!)
  15. Home from the NZ dog agility champs with a few brags! Went out with the ambition to achieve just one clear round, managed a clear round and 5th on Saturday in Jumpers, managed another clear round and 3rd on Sunday in Jumpers which put us into the finals, and a clear round in Novice on Monday. Finals was amazing, and slightly terrifying, we ran hard... and ended up with the fastest midi dog time, and fastest time overall! So we won a trophy and everything! Our first trophy - I'm so proud!
  16. Thanks! I really hope someone did video the run! I saw a few cameras around, I didn't think to ask anyone to video it for me as I'm always scared I'll jinx my run LOL
  17. Had the best time at NZDAC! Managed a couple of clear rounds here and there, and got a 3rd in Jumpers to qualify for the finals. The final was so terrifying, as everyone at the show crowded around the one ring to watch the 15 or so dogs competing for the trophy, we were 4th dog to run so I just thought "go hard or go home" and we ran hard and got a good time. After an excruciating wait for results while the other finals ran, we finally got the news... We won!!
  18. I had a gorgeous, and very wild, irish setter in my last obedience class... Had a lovely young family with her, who loved her to pieces!
  19. I'm a vegetarian and buy pig heads for my dog  Always love going through the checkout with my tofu, tempeh and quinoa... and a whole stack of organs and weird body parts.
  20. I don't know how the cooking process would interact with the drugs used to euthanize pets, but if it didn't destroy the drugs then I'm pretty sure it would be killing pets. Secondary Pentobarbital Poisoning of Wildlife
  21. I can't imagine trying to chop the stuff up! Most pet stores here sell it minced and frozen into pellets or patties :)
