  1. Yup! There is a brilliant dog friendly cafe about 5 minutes walk from my house so I take Elsie there all the time. She is well behaved and stays in a sit or down the whole time (except when getting cuddles from other customers and the staff!).
  2. Elsie is fed a raw diet, but she will eat almost anything. Not big on non-food stuff like plastic, but very happy to eat every variety of sh*t known to man, loves any food that belongs to any of our other animals, any dropped morsel in the kitchen including carrot, cabbage and lettuce... She is weirded out by kidney though and will only eat it chopped up, or frozen.
  3. I started teaching running contacts - it was wicked fun and Elsie did really well! We stopped because I found I was only training contacts once a week, or every second week at club. If I had my own gear I would certainly try it again. Elsie has reliable stopped contacts and I found teaching a RC taught her how to go hard and fast over the gear.
  4. Yes so cool to see new agility folk! Had an awesome night at training last night, started some work with my new borrowed giant schnauzer. It was her first time at agility so we just worked on playing tug and doing some circle work and keeping her focus around all the other dogs. She was a star! Not interested in looking at the other dogs at all, and eager to tug and take treats even within a few metres of other dogs running courses. Then did some agility with Elsie, we got to work on the see-saw which she hasn't seen since October and ran off the end of one in the weekend expecting it was a dogwalk, so needed a little reminder about it! Working on proofing weaves too with her best friend playing tug right next to the weaves, and having jumps set up close to pole 10 or just past the weave to tempt them to leave the weaves. Did some work on serps too which are looking fantastic and so smooth now :)
  5. On Monday and Wednesday I walk Elsie for half an hour in the morning, usually down to the park where we throw a ball around. During the day she is loose in the house with access to outside where she usually has a bone and a bunch of toys. One of my flatmates is home all day and he said she just sleeps in the sun usually, only goes outside to pee. In the evening after work I walk her for another half hour, and do some training then go to agility later on and do about 10 minutes of obedience and about 45 minutes of agility. Tuesday, Thursday, Friday we walk for an hour in the morning and usually do some agility training at the park and throw a ball around. Same situation during the day. In the afternoon we'll walk for an hour, then usually do some obedience homework in the evening. Weekends if we aren't competing in something we try to catch up with a friend for a forest walk, or go out and do some tracking! My life revolves around her! Elsie is a jack russell x border collie... Thankfully a very laid back dog in the house!
  6. We have an 8 year old cat that had never lived with a dog, and a puppy that was raised with a very playful cat. Our cat was super unimpressed with the puppy, but not scared. He just ignored her. She tried to get him to play a lot, and eventually gave up. We've had the dog for about 2 years now and the cat still ignores her totally. We went to a friends house that had a playful cat, and she was SO happy when the cat wanted to play with her :) :)
  7. I'm really keen to do all of Silvia Trkman's courses with my next dog.
  8. I have been bad! Got busy/slack early in the week... But I have been taking photos most days, trying a few new editing things out, and taking some (not many) non-dog photos! 5/28 - Snapped out the car window, pretty! 6/28 - Training day with friends 7/28 - Generic mountain shot, might play with this a little more... Looks a bit bland! 8/28 - My friend's dog before his track at the trial yesterday. I don't 'do' black & white often, but I like this one! 9/28 - Elsie enjoying some running around after the tracking trial today

  10. Elsie only comes onto the bed for cuddles in the morning, if my partner is away I let her sleep on the bed a few times but she is too annoying wanting to get under the covers, then gets hot and gets out, then wants under again so paws until I lift them up... And if I don't she pushes them down while trying to get under them. If I grump at her she gets off the bed and whines at the door to go to her crate!
  11. Some working trials training photos from yesterday! And some tracking!
  12. Yeah I would think it would still shed, but just tiny little spiky hairs??
  13. Interesting, do you have problems with your dog breaking when you come back to her? I've been having issues with the 10 minute out of sight stay for working trials. Elsie will do smaller lengths of time ok, and she is very on edge and alert (wagging her tail the whole time) but being such a small, skinny dog it's very obvious when she perks up a little bit and her chest comes off the ground. I've swapped to trying to get her to lay in a more relaxed position and chill out a bit... 10 minutes is a loooong time to be sitting there going OO MUM IS COMING BACK SOON SO EXCITING!!
  14. Had a 17 year old border collie at the boarding kennels, and my grandparents had a foxy pass at 21.
  15. Sometimes agility doesn't work out the way you want! Had a good weekend though, with a 2nd place, one run with 10 faults and 4 eliminations LOL! First time in this grade of jumpers, as we won out of the lower grade last year. First weekend back after injury too!!
  16. 1/28 I tried shooting a panorama for the first time! Stitched it all together :) Grounds for tracking seminar!
  17. I would love to see Michael Ellis too, or Silvia Trkman! Love their work!
  18. If anyone is interested, trial videos from Huntaway trials. 1st place, 2012. Straight hunt videos
  19. I live in New Zealand and only just stumbled upon this the other day while looking on the NZKC website. Very surprised! I know a couple of huntaways in agility here, but they're not really that popular, NZ heading dogs are much more popular in agility! Here are some photos I've taken of them at shows :) Rough collie x Huntaway Here's a fabulous looking Huntaway on an advert for a bank, I actually met this dog at the 2012 Obedience Nationals here and he is a sweety and SO BIG! When he came in front and sat for his handler his nose was literally at about her chin level!!
  20. Hmm unfortunately every long weekend is taken up by agility! Far too many dog shows! :) I'm going to be in Nelson for agility/obedience in June (Queen's birthday) and probably in July & November for Working Trials! Possibly Blenheim for an agility show too, in May. Let me know when you're in Christchurch - I have a few friends that show, so I might be able to be convinced to come out for the day! Do you have facebook? Next dog will have similar goals to Elsie, so agility, obedience, tracking & working trials if possible! I now have the breed breakdown for the coursing this weekend - what a collection! 1. Afgan Hounds x2 2. American Staffordshire Bull Terrier 3. Beardie/Ridgeback cross 4. 21. There was a breed show on this weekend, and unfortunately a lot of people were attending that and unable to attend our fun run... Do you think if we gave plenty of notice people might consider entering one day of the breed show (e.g. Saturday) then attending a fun run on the Sunday? If/when we do run a sanctioned event for titles, I assume it will be a 2-day event like agility and breed shows so hopefully worth the trip down :) Very keen to meet your iggy - I see one from the same kennels that yours is from is a coursing champion! My partner is pretty smitten with the breed, I need to meet a lot more of them to decide if we can have one!!
