I'm not sure for other breeds as in Danes we give adult Doses which we give 1 x Vit E tablet every 2nd day when the dog is on Fish oil, however these days a lot of Fish Oils contain Vit E so you can just look for those ones :)

Skin Problems And Throat Issues/reverse Sneezing
sas replied to Pretty Miss Emma's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
My allergic dog reverse sneezes, if it gets caught in an episode I cover his nose to force him to take a breathe in through his mouth. -
Removing The Aged Dog And Palliative Care Forums

I never go into it, I forgot it was even there. -
As if you would even ask that....like its somehow the poodle owners fault. If a fence does not contain a dog properly then the home owner is at fault.

Looking For Dog Food Without...
sas replied to Polgara's Shadow's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I'd recommend you make it yourself, that's what I do with my own allergy dog using Augustine Approved recipes and supplement. http://www.augustineapproved.com.au/recipes.php What test did you do to test your dogs food allergies? -
1 foster failure in 10 years and not even a Great Dane LOL My little Lab x from Renbury was just a perfect fit here and loved my Dane who has now passed and not many dogs liked my Dane and my Dane didn't like many dogs so it was just the right fit.

Great to hear logic rather than emotion.

Wowzers!!! Drugging a puppy?! What Vet recommends that!?
-
Given most puppies go home at 8 weeks the 2nd vac is up to the new owner. I wouldn't feel it appropriate to ask for a discount because you are able to take the pup a few weeks earlier. In regards to reducing costs for transport by asking the breeder to drop the puppy off at the Airport, I know many breeders who will take their pups to the Airport but I guess it depends on distance. I think the breeder is merely reading between the lines as I would too if you're questioning costs/asking for discounts...would make me wonder if you can actually afford all the expenses. The fact that you earn a 6 figure salary and are asking for a discount for the 2nd vaccination is a bit odd?

There's heaps in Australia but wouldn't they be better seeing a vet and then a Dermatologist rather than mucking around with something that may not even have anything to do why the dog is itchy.

The Doll Used In The Dog Temperament Test ?
sas replied to Christina's topic in General Dog Discussion
I'm very familiar with pig dogs, I grew up in the country and have direct experience with them and can make an educated comment unlike a number of people here who love to jump to conclusions that suit them (not saying you). I haven't made any comments about DA dogs. I'm simply stating that just because a dog is a pig dog doesn't mean it will maul a child. -
The Doll Used In The Dog Temperament Test ?
sas replied to Christina's topic in General Dog Discussion
Animal aggression can become human aggression if the dogs consider the human as prey. It can happen. It has happened. Who can forget this one: Death of Tyra Kuehne When not well socialised and used for this kind of hunting, dogs may confuse children with prey. I know that many pig hunting dogs are family dogs but the assumption that all such dogs are safe with children could be a dangerous one. I'm not talking about in the sense of prey at all. I'm not saying 'ALL' either. -
The Doll Used In The Dog Temperament Test ?
sas replied to Christina's topic in General Dog Discussion
No, I'm saying it's stupid from logical point of view and from direct experience. The RSPCA staff member made a big deal about the dog not being ok with the doll and that it would have to be euthanized if not safe with children.....stupid. -
The Doll Used In The Dog Temperament Test ?
sas replied to Christina's topic in General Dog Discussion
It's stupid, it assumes a dog is stupid and does not understand that a giant doll is not a human child. I wouldn't be concerned at what the Border Collie x did, she backed away, she retreated - exactly what you'd want a dog to do if unsure....she didn't fear bite. I think it's appalling that the RSPCA don't allow a dog to show its scared. The whole show pissed me off to tell you the truth, making out as though the pig dogs could be dangerous to people. A pig dog would be dead if it even thought about growling at its hunter. They are bred to do a specific job, and since when does animal aggression relate to human aggression, within our rescue we see a number of Dane x's either bred for hunting or used as hunting....not one we've had an issue with. We've also had a number of purebred Danes need rehoming because they've killed livestock and never a problem in a typical family setting - RSPCA just set everything back 10 more steps - don't expect anything better from them...I wish people would stop giving them money. -
Yes, one allergen seems unusual. Mine is allergic to the pollen of 9 common grass species, house dust mites, storage mites, mosquitos, some flies, and intolerant to a whole bunch of foods. We call Bruno the 'bubble boy.' LOL We had a Bubble Boy too.

My past dog was allergic to 101 things. It's more odd that your friends dog was only allergic to 1 thing.

Show Training Classes - Sw Sydney Area?
sas replied to Brenlise Cockers's topic in General Dog Discussion
The only Sydney ones I know of are Austral (Luci Ellem) and Castle Hill. -
Don't know much about that. Aren't they in full support of banning petshops from selling all animals, even goldfish? Or is that another group? I still don't know! They wouldn't answer my questions, just got all huffy and angry and stormed off. Their petition had nothing on it to indicate what was actually written within their 'Oscar's Law' proposal. Just that you supported Oscar's Law. Couldn't even tell me where I could go to find out what it actually entailed. They had websites, but I couldn't find a thing that looked like a piece of proposed legislation, just a whole lot of stuff about the evils of puppy farms. And nothing to differentiate between a puppy farm and a responsible breeder. They might have something now...I don't know, haven't looked any further. I'm in the same boat. I refuse to support something that the organisation refuse to give details on.

PETA are whack jobs. I only wish that the general public understood who PETA really were.

mmm never had that much success with it on different dogs to be honest but have heard others have had some luck. Cortivance is what is currently getting us through flare ups.

Love this guide: http://www.poisonous2pets.com.au/ It also lists a number of plants that 'cause itchyness that I wasn't aware of before, have since pulled 2 plants out of my garden - hasn't fixed my problem but still prefer my dogs to not have contact with plants that give reactions in some dogs.

Rescue Remedy is for very minor anxiety. PetArk Calm is a supplement you put in their meals. None of the reccomendations will be a miracle cure as I'm sur eyou know with all the things you have tried, just reccomendations for taking the edge off. Have you seen the red capes from America for dogs who are scared of storms because they feel the pressure changes in the air?
