  1. It's not usually a protein problem, it's phos:calc ratio problem. What's the actual problem?
  2. So the Behaviourist gave you a 'diagnosis' what did they tell you to do about it?

  4. Yes, constantly wrapped (padded). I wouldn't try and train the dog to not tail wag because you don't know if you're rewarding a change of mentality as well which the tail wag is associated with. If your dog won't keep a wrapping on and the tail cannot heal then docking would be the next logical step.
  5. We have a separation training pack that has yet to fail, feel free to email me at [email protected] if you would like a copy. I'd be looking at the toileting a bit more though i.e. is the dog actually toilet trained and does it have the capability to hold when it can't access the toileting area - does it know that it should? It could just be a toilet training problem? The condition of the poos will be a good indicator of stress.
  6. That's crazy expensive. We used...(there's places like this all over the place).
  7. Yeah rescue people don't have to work or care for their families so they like to think up worthless causes like getting dogs off chains and into family homes.
  8. Yes when I was making my own BARF although at the moment I'm just using: Greenpet Omega Plus: http://www.greenpet.com.au/products/GREENPET-OMEGA-PLUS-OIL.html
  9. Why are you people still debating whether temperament is genetic or not? It is 100%, there is no if's or buts about it. If you breed unstable temperaments you have a higher risk to create unstable temperaments. Mother Nature gives us a foundation temperament to work with and then we get an opportunity to shape the remainder....we don't get the opportunity to shape out what was wrong to start with. There's no point in arguing with each other because neither party is prepared to accept the others point of view so you're just arguing for the sake of it.
  10. To me, it's pretty simple. People are naive to think that temperament isn't genetic. If you breed unstable temperaments you're not going to keep getting lovely stable puppies. Then of course people help shape dogs but mother nature gives you the born temperament to work with.
  11. I can't really say it's his techniques but body language we have always used i.e. our own body language, how we hold ourselves. Telling someone to keep their chin up is a good way of explaining it as he does.
  12. He's a great guy, I've spoken to him a few times now, read one of his books as well. I'm not all about dominant theory but I think his information about body language is very relevant to anyone.
  13. I certainly wouldn't be going with the reorder system without first trying a couple of bags. And even then I wouldn't go with "reorder" as I wouldn't want a pet shop to have unlimited access to my credit card details or to take out direct debit with one...direct debits can be so hard to cancel, once set up Cool, then it's not the right one for you, I'm sure there are others. I don't think it's fair to suggest that it could not be handled appropriately by the company though.
  14. I know, I wasn't suggesting anything else, just sharing a great aussie kibble.
  15. I wouldn't call it quality with those ingredients....maize, maize flour, maize gluten all high up in the list....a bunch of low quality fillers.
  16. Grain free, Australian, new, quality ingredients. http://www.stayloyal.com.au/
  17. Great Dane Rescue NSW have just trailed with some owners a new Australian grain-free kibble, with a larger kibble size, you may be interested in learning more about it: http://www.stayloyal.com.au/ It is $97 per bah (15 kilos) if you set up a re-order program with them. I don't get anything to promote them, just sharing experiences.
  18. It is only that price if you commit to an automatic reorder. To buy at your own leisure it is $137, for only 15kg that is expensive. Not many people just buy one off though right? Hey, I'm just sharing a product we've trailed with owners. To me it's about the ingredients. Completely up to people what they choose to feed their dogs.
  19. If it's $30 per 5.5 kilos you may as well go and spend your money on something with better ingredients. We recently ran a trial of grain-free 'Stay Loyal' which is a new Australian made kibble for some owners who used Blackhawk, they were happy with it, bigger kibble size too which is ideal for bigger dogs. http://www.stayloyal.com.au/ and it has higher quality ingredients than BH imo (not taking anything away from BH though). $97 per 15 kilos with free delivery in some cases. It's all about the ingredients, to me there's no point in feeding this new Coles product with that level of starch in it, all it does is act as a binding agent, it does nothing positive for the dog. I think once we know better we do better. Sadly products like this new Coles lines make people think the ingredients are better than they are and give the impression of being more affordable...which they are not compared to better quality kibbles available. Below is the Stay Loyal label.

  21. I'd say that's a Vet question, I'd also speak with a good Behaviourist if you haven't already.
  22. It has way too much starch for my liking.
  23. On that note, that is all I'm going to be saying on this thread, thank you everyone for your information and your support, it's been an interesting few days. I hope the actions of our lawyer have maybe given you some courage to also make a stand where appropriate, I know some of you aren't in that position - all one can do is....what they can do. I am available to contact via PM or [email protected]
  24. Well, it sure sounds it. As I said, I wasn't being curious. The issue has being resolved satisfactorily for SAS. I was merely trying to get the message across that others might benefit from her experience, but apparently that is being undiplomatic. I think you may be mis-interpreting. I understand and appreciate where you are coming from, anyone is free to contact me.
