  1. 'You' think it's plenty of exercise but your dog does not > the quality/type of exercise probably needs adjusting. Consider more stimulating interactions to drain the brain including training/trick training. Give heaps of enrichment when you're not there.
  2. The link doesn't work anymore, so I'm presuming she got a save? (hoping)
  3. My advice is don't go, they're dangerous and unpredictable places and all it takes is one incident to have your pup end up fear aggressive because of it. Instead find people via this network or family and friends with safe gentle dogs. You said dogs 'need' to have non human friends...no they don't, that's your emotional need for your dog. Your dog would be better off being neutral to other dogs especially if you want to do obedience.
  4. *Bump* The Animal Agency has yet to hear from anyone.
  5. Hi Guys, Animal House which is a Sydney based animal agency is looking for dogs of any breed that are treadmill trained. The dog in the ad will be a guys dog, so more masculine types they'd probably be looking for. Will need to be available in Sydney on July 23rd. I don't have any other information. E-mail photos of dog to: [email protected]
  6. I've advertised dogs as a rescuer on Gumtree and had Rescuers contact me and tell me off.....these activists need a good slap.

  8. Goodness $115 is nothing these days, quit the negativity. If you're not interested don't do it. It's not like it's some C grade trainer offering a course. There are plenty of awesome online courses out there i.e. Susan Garrett, Fenzi etc, have completed courses from both. It's not a replacement of puppy school...it says this... Does this replace going to puppy class? The more you activities you do with your puppy, the better. Our course is a great next step for after Puppy Classes. If you can’t attend a local puppy class, we will give you all the information you need to get your puppy off to a great start.
  9. I had my girl put to sleep at home and let my dogs out afterwards, they didn't realise she was gone and weren't affected,
  10. Don't see any Dane there. Hopefully she finds a lovely home, she looks damn good for her age.
  11. If you're freezing, the dog is cold, bring him in.
  12. Are there any Sydney based DWD folk who would help out a newbe with an nontraditional breed? i.e. paid instruction.

  15. Given you've only been a member here since the start of the year you may want to be a bit more supportive of topics that you have seen before, you'll see it alot more in the future, if they irritate you just don't click into them.
  16. I think you'll find the majority of people have full time jobs are capable of raising puppies.
  17. Id just have your husband completely ignore the dog, no eye contact, no nothing...just wait it out.
  18. A breed specific rescue will generally only rescue its breed.......that's why they are breed specific. The purebred dog of their given breed is generally a breed they have been involved in for a decade, sometimes a life time, they know it well, they sometimes know specific lines and the health and temperament of those lines > some breeds are unique and require specialised care where possible. When you cross breed a dog then it no longer has predictable traits of the purebred so please don't poo poo that, it makes perfect sense. In addition their community go to them for that breed not that breed x. For many years Great Dane Rescue NSW was breed specific (no Dane x's) and oh my the hell we got from some all breeds rescue folks who wanted us to save the 1001 Dane x's in pounds... Understand most breed specific rescues are run by 1 person, not a network of foster carers so a cross breed taking the room of a purebred which they are meant to take defeats the purpose of their breed specific rescue....we have had cases before where we have had Dane x's in care and then a purebred Dane has come up and we had no room to take it and it was euthanised....then we get abused by the breed community. There are all breed rescues and there are breed specific rescues > support each other even if you don't get it. Our rescue was not affiliated with the club, the club would not take dogs on themselves due to liability. In regards to papers, we can look at a Dane and know it's a Dane (in most cases), we do have BYB Danes that can look a bit different sometimes, we don't need papers, if the dog has papers then it can go back to its breeder (if they will take it).
  19. www.greatdanerescue.com.au list the different state contacts.
  20. If the dog does in fact have Hip Dip and the dog was sold to you for breeding and showing, the dog no longer meets the criteria it was sold to you as and given dogs are 'goods' you are entitled to a refund or replacement.
