^ Just after Kochie said that he said something about Paris Hilton 'starting the trend' ...of what? Owning a Chihuahua? A seemingly healthy - if somewhat unfotunate - normal sized dog? She didn't own a *teacup*, if memory serves!
-
Lint roller (the sticky sheets one) in handbag, one in car and one in dresser drawer. Going to get another one for mum's car. cat + dog hairs on every article of clothing. More pet toys come home with me from shopping trips than things for me. adn I've only had pets for about a month!!!

My husband's brother and his family have two shibas. The eldest, a white boy - is good. Fairly well behaved, self-sufficient, confident dog. The youngest, a red girl - is so silly! Even at 2 years of age, she is such a puppy. Naughty and slightly dumb, according to her family. Totally adorable, though They like to kill small animals too. Leaving them on their owner's doormat. I knew them both as puppies, and to be honest they have retained pretty much the temperament they had at a few months old. Two very different personalities, from the same breed - and in fact they came from the same breeder!

My Bertie (Chihuahua) prefers laps to feet. The kitten, however...will sit on feet if given the chance. Trouble is, at not-quite-7-weeks he is so tiny and weightless that he is often in danger of being booted across the room because we don't realise he's there
-
I just today noticed how rough my 11month old Chihuahua and 6.5/7 week old kitten play together. Bertie (Chi) bats kitten quite heavily with his paw, kitten doesn't seem to mind... Besides, kitten has plenty of hiding places Bertie can't get to. Even when kitten has had enough and arches back/swipes at Bertie, claws are in. Very proud of the tiny kitten!

Edited to actually answer the question. I wanted an inside dog, and a small one. I actually looked at a few breeds (CKCS, Papillons...) but chose Chihuahua in the end. Also spent a lot of time talking to an interstate breeder/shower of Chis who turned out to be a wealth of knowledge and helped me greatly - actually still is helping me! Even though I went through a local breeder for my Bertie. One day, we will own a CKCS, a Papillon, Beagle, mini foxie, Westie, GSD,... all my fave breeds.

What Plans Do You Have In Place To Care For Your Animals
Stutterfly replied to Tilly's topic in General Dog Discussion
My mum (while sad at my being injured...) would definitely take Bertie if something happened to DH and me. Otherwise, DH's brother would, or the breeder would take him back, or another breeder friend of mine.... Bertie is a popular dog I hate seeing notices for dogs who have to be rehomed due to owners dying or being injured sufficiently to no longer be able to care for them. It's very sad for all involved. -
Nah I'd say the whites are blown completely on that. As others have said, shoot in raw and lower your ISO and exposure comp. in daylight conditions.
-
As much as I can, I want to socialise my Bertie, with dogs, cats, people, whatever! However with a little Chihuahua, extra care is definitely needed, and I will always be cautious around new people and pets. I believe it is good for him though, and he was very interested in watching a friend's staffy/bull arab digging for China at the beach yesterday - so I'll keep trying.

50mm 1.4 Or 1.8 Post Your Pics Here!
Stutterfly replied to Kirislin's topic in Photos, Photos, Photos
I posted a topic about it before, first pic of new dog. Taken with my Nikon D700, Sigma 50mm f1.4. No idea what settings, as it was still whatever I set it all to last night at a shoot. -
He's 11 months old, from a breeder.
-
He is beautiful Lovely pics.
-
^ That makes sense, since his registered name is Bertie Buttons!
-
I just brought little Bertie home today, he's a bit unsure of his new home and at the moment prefers to be curled up beside me on the couch - luckily my d700 was sitting on the coffee table (within reach) still set up from last night's shoot so I managed to get this of my new baby Am on my macbook pro so I haven't done any editing or anything, it's basically as-is.

Cheap Book Website With Free Shipping!
Stutterfly replied to Aztec Gold's topic in General Dog Discussion
They can take ages with shipping, but at least it's free! Used them many times, no probs. -
Thanks for sharing - gorgeous pics!

Sigma 50mm f1.4 lately. Mostly because lately many of the venues I've been shooting in have had horrible lighting. Before it started playing up, I was using my Nikkor 24-70mm f2.8 the most.

Watermarks And Protecting Your Work
Stutterfly replied to Kirislin's topic in Photos, Photos, Photos
If they're really good with photoshop, I guess. When my photos have been stolen, the thieves haven't even bothered to remove the watermark so...meh. -
^ On that note, how about DNA testing cigarette butts?
-
Yes the one in Harbour Town (Gold Coast) has rescue kitties for sale. Not sure about pups, I didn't go much further into the shop (too crowded!)
-
I can see how vindictive neighbours and the like would use this to their advantage...scoop up the poop from their neighbour's yard, go and dump it in a public place.

Help! It Was Bound To Happen Eventually
Stutterfly replied to Kirislin's topic in Photos, Photos, Photos
Also don't forget licensing. Would you transfer the copyright directly to her or would she own it for a year...? I recommend $50-$100 for the lot and something like... "Upon full and complete payment of this invoice, all rights in perpetuity including the copyright to the photo described herein are transfered to *insert buyer's name* his heirs and assigns. Seller warrants that he owns the all rights and copyright to said photograph and transfers them to purchaser for the agreed upon amount. Seller agrees to emdemniy the purchaser against any present and future claims by third parties including the creator of the photographand any persons or properties whose likeness is in the photograph described herein," That's a sample I found online. Just because it's your first sale doesn't mean it should be a freebie - but nor should you charge what a serious professional would. Go for an in-between. It's still your time and effort, not only to have taken the photos but also to now edit, copy to a disc, etc. If you do freebies now...you might be stuck doing them forever.
