  1. Hey Olive Baby... I have been taking Brandy to Carine on a Sunday morning too... Perhaps we have been in the same class? Are you still in Puppy classes? It would be nice to "know" someone!! :) E>T>A Oh I see now that Olive is 6months... So i guess we haven't been in the same class! Hahahaha... Brandy is 16 weeks this week, so will be moving up to 1A next week! Providing her broken tail doesn't cause ant issues for her! Small world!
  2. Thanks for the input... I will try waiting a set 5 minutes and re-crating her if she doesn't go for 10 minutes and then trying again... How long should I let her have out of her crate if she does go outside? And how am I supposed to gauge if I should hold out for poo's or not.... She is actually worse with her poo than wee... She holds on much better with that, but it seems to be the poo I get caught on! If she has an accident I just clean it up, I never say anything...Unless I see her about to squat.. Then I usually say "No".... and pick her up and rush her outside.... Somethimes she stops... Sometimes we leave a trail! :S I do try to give her lots of praise when she goes outside... And sometimes a treat... I will try to treat more for toileting! I guess at 3 in the morning which is her guaranteed go time, I am not thinking about finding a treat! :) (I will put some with her lead before bed to see if it helps!) Today I tried to be firmer about waiting, and she got 5 minutes to "go" if she didn't go, straight back to her crate for 20 mins... But she held on for 4 hours for a wee.... and 6 hours to poo.... I swear she was being stubborn! I just feel so bad, as it meant she spent a lot of time in her crate today... After she did poo, I made sure we had some really fun playtime together, and a snuggle on the chair... But it just feels so mean! Thanks for your help... I will try all the suggestions! Amanda
  3. I am after some advice with my 14 week old Whippet puppy... We have had her since she was 8.5 weeks... So nearly 6 weeks now... and she has been crate trained since we got her... We have no problems putting her in her crate, and she sleeps through the night, and never soils in her crate... The problem is she doesn't seem to be making any progress with the toilet training otherwise.... She is confinded to a single room when she is out of her crate, and I am usually in the room with her... I watch her like a hawk, but she still just goes where ever she wants too... I take her out at least every hour, and if she hasn't been, I take her again in 20 minutes... but still she will manage to go less than 5 minutes after she is inside... While I understand that accidents happen, it is getting beyond a joke... She makes no attempt to hold it, and no attempt to let me know... I have followed all the toilet traing advice I have otherwise seen here... But something needs to change.... I must be doing SOMETHING wrong.... Please help, it is starting to cause tension with my Husband, as he was not a fan of an inside dog.... Thanks
  4. Thats is quite normal. Keep putting her outside everytime she wakes up from a snooze, after you play a bit with her and she will get it. When she does have an accident inside, just pick her up bring her outside without getting angry. I hope your "yes" is more then just that. Praise her like its the best thing she could ever do for you. She will get it dont worry it only takes a couple of weeks. I wouldnt put her back in her crate while she might think you punish her and she does have no idea whatfor. Hahaha, sorry I should have made it clear, I meant she gets the marker "yes" and a treat.. But while I am giving her the treat after the yes, I give her HEAPS of praise!! She gets so excited... She gets a pat, and in a "voice" she gets "good girl, good good girl" ... I am sure she knows I am pleased with her... It is just that she doesn't seem to want to "go" for the treat and praise! When I put her back in the crate, she seems more than ahppy to go back in, she isn't upset, and will usually just play with her toys.. Quite often I hide a treat in there before she goes back in too, so there is something nice to find... I will keep trying... Hopefully she will soon understand!
  5. I am after some advice on my new puppy, we have had her a week now, and she is crate trained/training... But we are having toileting issues... She just wont go when I take her out... She stands around, looks at me, then lays down and has a rest... I give her 10 minutes or so to go, but she usually doesn't.... and then I bring her in... Usually she will have an accident straight away... So to stop that, I have started putting her back in her crate if she doesn't "go" and I take her out to toilet again in 15 minutes... But still she wont go! When she does go, she gets "yes" and liver treat... Which she loves, but it really just seems like she is holding out! What am I doing wrong??? I feel so mean... putting her back in her crate... But how else am I supposed to stop her from having accidents? Thanks for any advice
  6. Thank you... Sutton is also very cute, you have every right to be a proud Mum!... although I think I am yet to meet a puppy that isn't cute!... What breed is Sutton?
  7. Hi Everyone.. My wait is finally over!! Miss Brandy came home today... She is Perfect in everyway! and we have even had some success in toileting~! So I am pleased! She is currently sleeping at my feet, and seems most content... I am amazed at how quickly she settled in! She is already my shadow, and wants to just be near me! So sweet, my Whippet Princess certainly has me twisted around her little paw already!
