  1. I thought that was a muggle? - which would be a Maltese x Pug wouldn't it Bisart - I think they mean the dog is a small white fluffy creature purchased from a pet shop or maybe a rescue dog?
  2. Quality of life for the dog is important to me. My beloved Coco cost heaps (stopped counting 'coz it was scary), that was dealing with Cushing's. Zedley, one way and another is costing me a small fortune too. I guess I will always try to find the money so long as the dog has a good quality of life, and I can find the loot. I know that I will go without and scrimp and save, but some things could become too large for me to handle.
  3. Very interesting Kirislin, describes his behaviour to a 'T'. The vet did a check of him, but I will take this printed info and have his boy parts checked. He is 8 and the vet asked if I thought it could be dementia, but I didn't think so. Hairy maclary - I have tried leaving him in other rooms, basically he wants to be with me and if I foce him to stay in another room he just tries to find an escape route. He is now on 1 and 1/2 Endep twice a day, first night not good, so yesterday I gave him one pill in the morning (not so zonked out for the day) and two before I went to bed (rather than about 6.30 with his thyroxine) Don't want ot hex things, but we both got a decent night sleep last night :D I am trying to get through to the psychic vet to explore all avenues and my vet is looking for other ideas too.
  4. Zedley has free indoor/utdoor movement, but I leave the a/c on for him.
  5. Can dogs have night terrors? Might be a long shot, but trying to escape so badly - maybe he is having night terrors? are night terrors like sleep walking, if so I think you might be on to something, I wonder if he's actually dreaming when he does all this weird behaviour. I think he is awake Kirislin, his eyes are wide and scared looking. The endep did not work last night, so another disturbed night.
  6. Can dogs have night terrors? Might be a long shot, but trying to escape so badly - maybe he is having night terrors? Don't know EmiLeigh, tho I am sure I terrorise him when he wakes me up Will ask Laura when she comes round.
  7. The vet and I are hoping that the increase in Endep will do the trick. But I will be calling the psychic vet, as when Zedley goes to bed he goes to sleep, no probs. but he wakes up between 0130 and 0200 and tried to break out of the glass windows, dig the concrete under the gates - he seems scared and he really just wants to escape the property, not just the odd room. I am determined to get some sleep and I am determined to sort his problem, and if I have to get an exhorcist then dang me I will
  8. Well the second night was worse. He howled and cried on and off all night (I got 4 hours sleep). I ignored the racket, hoping he would get used to it. This morning I got up at 0530 and found he had scraped and inch square of skin off the top of his nose, his two front feet pads were bloodied . Called my vet and dragged the ratbag up there at 0930. His general health checks out OK. I have to bathe his feet and nose in salt water twice a day, give him anitbiotics twice a day for 4 days, up his Endep from 10 to 15 mg twice a day, and not put him back in the crate with its door closed. He quite likes wandering in and out during the time I am in the room. I am going to contact the psychic vet again this week and see what comes of that. My vet is as flummoxed as am I, and she also suggested getting an exorsist for him :D I shall be getting Laura Bird to come around and see what she can detect. Fifi I have come oh so close to wringing his neck, never mind drugging the lad, killing was on my mind in the early hours of the morning.
  9. :D Noisy, yup I am looking a little pale through lack of sleep.
  10. OK put the crate up, let him in and out of it - fine! Bed time - OH dear, he wants to go to the bedroom, put him in the crate and close it up. God to my bed. I hear him once let out a blood curdling yell , then all was quiet. This morning awoke to find his name disc on the floor of the crate, the 'O' ring torn wide open, he had pooped on his bed, and he had bent one of the side rails. Hooley dooley what kind of dog have I got Hopefully tonight will be better, as I will also removed his collar before he goes into the crate. The Good as Gold does not appear to be having any effect on his middle of the night antics, and his Endep is no doing it either. Time for the dog psychic to come and see if she can find our ghost.
  11. RIP Sophie. What a terrible shock for you Moselle How your heart must have broken. To me there can be nothing more painful than losing your heart dog.
  12. So sad for that poor family - donation sent!
  13. Poor Bindi. I do hope that she heals with no further dramas for you MrsGrumbleBum :D
  14. I was thinking back to Aidan's post on it a while ago - and I THINK there was something about them needing carbohydrates with it? Does he have carbs in his meal? If not, try adding a small amount of rolled oats or something with it and see if that helps? Thank you so much Noisymina, I can hardly believe I am having such trouble with a dog. I used to breed WHFT's many moons ago, shouldn't need to ask so many questions. I do thank you. He is on BARF and he evening meal has veggies, but I will add some oats to it and see if that helps him and me. :D
  15. Incredible news, EMmy must be helping in some way and the care you give him is exemplary
  16. I've added another question at the end of my fist post.
  17. Fantastic idea - I am a crockpot queen (in my own life). Love using it an love collecting recipes
  18. OK now that mine is here I want to know when is volume 2 coming out :D
  19. Thank dog that you stuck out that baptism of fire ;) Your two babies are absolutely gorgeous. I started breeding with a mentor who very kindly gave me my first bitch and led me down the right paths. I have no been breeding for over 40 years, but I still an interest in the goings on in that rare-ified place. ;) :D
  20. Ah thank you so much Nekhbet. :D I have a new crate for him so sometime next week I will assemble it and start working on crate training (re-training) him. One way or another I (with the help of DOLers) will get this dog sorted
  21. Totally agree Ernie. Problem may be that if we are brought up with dogs we are also taught how to behave around them. I guess if you are from a non-dg background you have no bloddy clue!!!!
