Waiting, waiting, waiting - golly Kelly Louise you must be worn out. That 8 hour test is a devil, expecially for dogs who stress out. Good vibes from WA for you and Chloe.

Funny how little things can keep our spirits up Great that the vet thinks it is 'only' Cushing's coming bacj and nothing in addition to that. Good luck with her tests next week. My boy is an itcher and we discovered that it is mainly due to low Thyroid issues. I had been told by the gal that sent him to me that they thought he was allergic to beef and I know for sure he is allergic to oats. Of course I forgot this and three weeks ago fed him raw beef patties Total flare up, GAH. I now have his body under control, but it runs into his ears and they got really bad - BAD MUMMY! He is on a course of antibiotics and steriods and ear drops. I used to import the Trilostance from the UK, but AQIS or Customs put a stop to that little exercise :D In the US it can be bought over the counter at chemists that stock it. Can you ask your local pharmacy if they could get it in, and how much they would charge you for it?

Have you on my mind Kelly Louise. I'm a bit late to the board as I had my boy at the vet. Nothing serious with him just some drops for his itchy ears and a scipt for Oroxine for his thyroid. The pills at the chemist cost me $36.00 and the vet charges $82.00 I need to save where I can (you know all about that ). Enough of my boy, I am dying to hear what your specialist has to say about Chloe. BTW he sounds like a really good find, and we like to stick with the good 'uns :D ETA spelling

Hang in there girl, you can deal with whatever the prognosis is. If you want to chat PM me your phone number (or your Mum's) and I can give you an experienced shoulder (((HUGS)))

My friend helped me to look at my Coco with different eyes. At the end Coco developed kidney failure, once we got him back on his tightrope, my vet said that if he fell off the rope again then it would not be a good thing. Needless to say he eventually went into renal failure again and I had to make that dreadful decision. Poor lad had gone deaf and was almost blind, but had plently of bounce in him when he was on the right meds and his kidneys were behaving. I used to feel terrible having to take Coco for so many tests (the wallet hated it too ), but I considered that when he was on the right meds he had a good quality of life, so it was worth doing. His vet also loved him and carried him on his shoulders around the surgery seeing other patients so I never felt that I was hurting the boy. It is very possible that a Cush dog has diabetes too.

Kelly Louise it is terrible that you are bouncing on that trampoline again. It is not unusual for an ACTH toi be wrong. Happened to me a couple of times, but my vet went with his gut a did another ACTH a couple of days later. You have nothing to feel guilty about, silly girl. This is a very curious disease (in animals and humans) and reactions are different all the time. You are doing your very best for Chloe. This disease can and does go in and out of remission. It is possible that it is just a UTI, or sometimes it can be related to the way Chole's kidneys are functioning. I am hoping for a simple UTI, but let's face it, you can deal with doing the drug thing again if you have to

Prayers for Sweep, I hope he is feeling better by the time the vet calls you.

Can those of you with Cushing's dogs please remeber that the disease makes them ravenous and is eating away at all of the muscles in their bodies. Please do not think that just because they are eating they are OK, they are not OK and the muscle weakness causes a lot of pain. (I have a human friend with Cushing's, so I know how she feels).

Bridgie Bear, I had to let my Coco (RIP) go to the bridge at 15.5yrs. I waited until a Friday so that my son could drive me to and from the vet's, as I knew my heart would break and I wanted a weekend to deal with my grief away from work. My boy had Cushing's and many of the problems you describe. At the end my boy's kidneys started to pack up and he was not happy at making puddles in the house. Many hugs Bridgie, the pain will be immense at first but it will lessen with time.

I found them great, they spoke to me on the phone when necessary, kept up with emails, meds were mailed promptly. I really cannot speak too highly of them, even though by boy only had a very itchy skin problem. Finalyy diagnosed as a thyroid problem.

Hi Jedda I live in WA and have been in contact with Robert McDowell, a holistic vet in Sydney who does on line and email consults. I found them brilliant for my dog (not cancer related). Contact site: http://www.cancer-herbal-treatment.com/art...emotherapy.html or email Robert McDowell [[email protected]]

Kelly Louise I have just remembered that Coco used to pee in my laundry, which was half way to his own dog door. I think his leg muscles were too weak to get him all the way there and back to my bed This could be Chloe's problem for sure. I hope she enjoys her meeting with Sashy, be careful, as her muscles will now be weak forever. (I know you will be careful, but hey I am a Mum)

Kl I know only too well how financially draining this disease is. At one time I believed that I was just working for the disease As Chloe's numbers are so low I would try to give her as long a break as possible from the meds (can't always escape the testing tho ) If she become too incontinent, may be you could get some of the bitch panties (for bitches in season) and put them on her at night - yes I am full of silly ideas

Chin up lovey. Hopefully she did not want to get wet and held it too long, she may also have a UTI. Might be worth a word with the vet if it happens again. My Coco (RIP baby) wet himself when he was asleep (as if he was so dead to the world that the urge to pee did not wake him up) a couple of times, he we found he had a bit of a kidney problem (a side effect sometimes of Cushing's). Hold fast to the improvements in Chloe and try not to get too down.

I bought a packet of the North Atlantic Salmon and Rice. Zedley loves it as a little snack (he is a BARF-boy), he is also an itchy boy and so far no itchies from him ETA Inside the packet is a coupon for $5.00 off the next purchase, this is not mentioned on the outside of the packet. -
OMG DieselWeisel you are one very determined, stubborn and couragous dog lover . You are now one of my idols Talk about moving heaven and earth - you have been there and done that for your beloved Diesel. I am crossing everything in the hopes that the tumour has shrunk completely and that you don't even have to treat for Cushing's. Both you and Deisel deserve medals for your fortitude and determination - GO DIESEL

Awwww poor puppy. Bet she will be up and racing around sooner than you think :p
-
Wooooo Hooooo go Chloe, this is absolutely the best news KL - you must be jumping out of your skin :D I'm jumping out of mine!
-
KL any good news is usually received with great heaves of relief Folks who have dealt with serious illnesses in their dogs understand at least what we are going through, even if they know nothing of the disease itself. I have a girl friend who had Cushing's, now has Addison's. It gave me great insight into what the human body feels (dogs cannot explain what they are feeling, can they)? I really wish neither my GF or my Coco (RIP baby boy) or your Chloe (or any dog or person for that matter) got this horrible disease. I shall be keeping you and Chloe in my thoughts and prayers for a very long remission.

That looks so much as I remember the pics of Beau's burn Poor pup, we can only hope it is not too painful.

Hi Kelly Louise. Many dogs go into remissio, especially those on Trilostane. The remission can last a few weeks, months or even a couple or three years (that is the longest I know of. It would be just great if Chloe was cured, but I fear she is only in remission - but that is a good thing as it means she does not need drugs in her system for a while. If Chloe's Cushing's was caused by too many cortisone session prior to her diagnosis (Iatrogenic Cushing's) then she could be cured. Best you can do is just keep an eye on her (I am sure you will) and watch for the return of the rotten CD.

DW this is the best news for you and Diesel I think it is great the support we get from the folks at DOL especially when our furry ones are in trouble. Six months will fly by, and I shall be keeping you and Deisel in my thoughts for a most positive outcome - all is sounding absolutely great right now
