  1. I have a Wire Haired Fox Terrier (used to breed them many years ago). If you are going to show they do take a fair time in preparation - hand stripping is hard. As I don't show my boy (he is the best pet) I clip him myself. Between his bathing and clipping I would guess about 2 hours once every couple of months. They are a faithfull dog, most of them do not acknowledge that they know what recall is , they perform great in the garden, but run like hell in the park. Mine comes back when he is good and ready, but I fear for him finding a road to run across. ETA they like to have a really good walk or run as often as you can manage it. Mine loves all other dogs and can outrun my son's Wei
  2. What a gorgeous boy. Rest in Peace young man, know you were a much loved family member.
  3. Maria at Click Go The Shears on Green Street, Mt Hawthorn. http://www.yellowpages.com.au/wa/north-per...27-listing.html Maria used to do my mini poodle. She has a show golden retriever. She is great and also has a mobile wash.
  4. My Wire Haired Fox Terrier is not related to the Scottish Terrier! He is related, way back in history, to the Stafford. He is a working dog, in the sense that he was used to follow the foxhounds and go down the foxholes to grab the foxes, hence his docked tail. That is used to pull the dog back out of the foxhole.
  5. Ah yes Schnauzer@Uni that is the one - I just love it. Spottychick - Inspector Rex is on tonight ;)
  6. It is Progressive http://www.progressivedirect.com.au/ Not sure how to search for a utube video.
  7. I've been dared to register Deshonko as an ANKC prefix. Ah...... no. No, no, no - everyone would start breeding them and they would no longer be speshul
  8. I love this ad. the Wolfie is in the passenger seat and his owner tels him to put his seatbelt on, or he could end up being a DASHOUND This insurance company obviously includes dogs in the car policy. At the end of the ad the Wolfie is in the driving seat and hiw owner is barking at the people on the footpath
  9. I love reading of the contacts with the famous Deshonko kennels. made my day today after a morning at the people hospital
  10. I cannot answer your query. My son has a blue/grey Wei. I am not sure that the Blue is an acceptable colour in Australia.
  11. I've always stayed with the pets I have had to have euthanised. The last one was my beloved Coco (RIP). My vet had a lovely room where I could sit in comfort and be private for the last minutes with my beloved boy. I could sit as long as I wished, the dog was given a shot of valium. We cuddled for about 25 minutes and then my wonderful vet came and gave the final shot. My boy went to the in my arms. I was allowed to stay with him as long as I wanted to. I was crying and very upset, as was my vet and his nurses. The Beloved One will be with me forever, and the memory of his passing is not to horrible to bear as I was with him all the way.
  12. I love that programme, and I love poodles. That one looked a tad overweight and in need of a clip. I love seeing him in bed
  13. I voted night, but it isually 5/530pm. My boy is an adult and once a day is good for him. I feed him, then me and he does not beg for my dinner
  14. If he is no longer groggy, he can be taken for a walk. I would make it shorter than usual, just to keep him from being too excited.
  15. Could be a sign of a UTI. Watch her and see if vet if it continues and she shows no bloods.
  16. My mini poodle (RIP) used to cuddle into the small of my back. On the night he had some bacj teeth out he laid in the crook of my arm like a baby all night. I think it is part comfort, part habit, part warmth - mostly love
  17. My boy can get the itchies, and has dug bloody holes in himself. Finally it as tracked to very low thyroid. He still gets itchy and I know that he is allergic to too much beef and oats. I do not like him on cortisone (IMHO it is pushed too often) as that can lead to Cushing's or atypical Cushing's and that is one disease I'd rather not treat again. It seems that now as long as he gets the right dose of Thyroxine he is OK.
  18. Blacklab - the skin is usually under his arms pits, never in a sun area. Peacefrog - his 'blackness' is not raised and it is usually on the sides of the belly near the leg joints. I thought is was bruising due to scratching and biting himself. Right now he has a very black patch near the inner joint of a rear leg, not itchy just ugly is he lies on his back
  19. It looks to me as if it coule be chicken. I have been told by my vet and other dog folks that many dogs are sensitive to chicken (I though it was a 'mild' meat). I add Inner Health for Kids powder to my boy's foods.
  20. I feed raw to my boy. He has a thyroid problem and that causes itchies. When he is having a breakout (usually due to me feeding oats or beef by mistake) his skin goes very black in areas. I initially thought that was caused by him biting and itching at himself, but my vet told me that it is inflammation caused by his allergy to these two foods.
  21. Good point, never thought of that! Not all shelters and rescues desex the dogs before they are rehomed!
  22. I have no idea, but if you take your current or last tube to the pharmacy the chemist can advise. At least my chemist looks stuff up on his computer and then tells me if there is a human equivalent. :D
  23. Zedley hates to be left at home. He is not bored, he can get in and out of the house. If he kicks up my neighbours know that if they call his name and tell him to zip it, he will stop. I think it is payback for not taking him with me. He usually gets to come out with me most times.
  24. Remember you can go to Synergy.com.au and apply for your $80.00 refund either on line or download an application form here: http://www.westernpower.com.au/mainContent...mentScheme.html I've already applied on line.
