  1. Would love to know where all the best dog parks are....but not just your average run of the mill dog park but the ones with permanent agility equipment. Would love to know if there are any good ones in SA (cause that's where I live) but still be interested to see others throughout Australia. Please include photos if possible :)
  2. yes...but our agility classes were cancelled due to no trainer so... And yes we are very respectful of any others using the course, always look and make sure equipment is not being used
  3. Ha well I'm confused also. Been a member of said club for 3 years, have been training dogs for at least 20 (with other clubs throughout SA). Both husband and I would LOVE to get into agility and compete....and yet almost everytime we use the equipment we are getting told we can't. Yet others use equipment at will....why not us? Doesn't seem to be a reason. Bit over it
  4. Thanks. Nope none of our dogs are registered. Sick of being constantly yelled at when using equipment at our local club. Perhaps if we join this DogsSA...?
  5. Agility peeps....what is the agility association that one needs to join to compete? And what does it cost per year? Thanks
  6. No you don't have to. Would depend on your dogs age. Very young dogs/pups can be more prone to illnesses such as the deadly parvo. Some diseases like Parvo can be brought onto your property via other people's shoes.
  7. Agree. If ppl would just take their dogs to obedience school and train and socialise their dogs (esp between 8-16 weeks) I am sure there would not be so many snappy dogs, big and small. Cant take a dog that young out to obedience school. I have been waiting till mine had his last needles and then another 2 weeks after that as advised by my vet. So that is 18 weeks. Parvo is alive and well in this area and taking them out so young, although tempting, is not worth the risk
  8. Ok I admit it I put yes. My bad? But only my hairless Crestie...no odour, no fleas. And he sleeps in between the sheets just like us so they would be washed anyway. No way would the Rotti or the Boxer be on the bed...any human's bed. They have their own
  9. I'd get paid for it as I'd just take normal sick leave, go to the docs and get a certificate. I've no doubt a doctor would give me a cert as I'd be such an emotional mess I'd be unable to work anyway
  10. Wow what big hairy ears he has. So cute. Cresties are the cutest dogs ever.
  11. Yeah me too Jules. I'm pissed off enough that they lay baits in dunes on the beach. I regard the beach as a public place where I should be able to walk my dogs freely without stress.
  12. I assume they fly over in a plane or helicopter and throw the baits out at random
  13. Well he's just a little tacker atm. Of course I'll feed more as he grows. Got some chicken wings today, he chews them a bit more :)
  14. Breeder fed and recommended Advance dry food. I have had dogs both large and small all my life....and I have been an avid reader on here for many years so you'd think I'd know it all by now lol. I vaguely remember someone else asking the same question on here and I think someone may have said that one can feed TOO MUCH calcium and it is overused and un-neccassary so I have not bothered, but now hearing otherwise. If I go with my gut instinct I'd say no as chicken necks contain enough bone matter. This is my first Rotty though so probably the heaviest breed of dog I've ever owned so far :)
  15. We have a new Rotty puppy (12 weeks old). I am feeding him Advance large breed puppy dry food, raw mice and 2 chicken necks a day. Other large breed owners have advised I should add calcium powder to his feed. I wouldn't have thought he would need any extra calcium seeing as I am using a good quality dry food? Should I add calcium, and if so how much?
  16. When I spoke to the pest exterminator who came in to do my workplace, he said Talon was the brand he recommended to work the best.
  17. That's not a bad idea. I gave Bentley a pigs ear and it put oily stains all over my carpet, bones would be as bad. Love your Cresties :)
  18. They bait on beaches around here, I wrote a thread on it a while ago. Makes me mad as I think the beach is sacred and the perfect place to allow my dogs to run free. Now I can't even do that I do let them run occasionally if there were no signs (but signs can blow down ect) Every-time they go near the dunes I'm calling them back and the whole business has now become quite stressful
  19. Not a problem, PM me your address :) Done :)
  20. Can I have the fishy one? Might cost a bit too much to send though...would feel guilty if postage was too dear
  21. Try a bean bag type of bed. Dogs just love bean bags, they are warm soft and oh so cumfy. I have bought these for my dogs http://www.ambientlounge.com.au/bean-bags/gold-class-bean-bags/pet-lounger-bean-bags/pet-lounger-bean-bag.html These are not cheap...but the top part zips off for easy cleaning and they are very strong and sturdy.
