My rotti was wagging his tail in his sleep the other night. So cute! They do all sorts in their sleep, growl, whimper and their eyes sometimes flicker. We think they are dreaming but who knows?

I dont know about fleas but for itchy skin you can try coconut oil or fish oil tabs. We have a boxer with itchy skin issues and we are trying the fish oil. Have read many good things about the coconut oil.

Bentley decides to lick himself at usually around 3 am in the morning. Such an annoying sound. I tolerate it for about 3 minutes then yell at him to stop which he does.

Chinese Crested Blackheads And Skin Care
flame ryder replied to Fergiesmum's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Hello Fergiesmum. I am a Crestie owner too. Pretty much what CrazyCresties said. I don't do much to my boys skin. Bath once a month, cream if I think he needs it and for the occasional rash I use pawpaw ointment. If you use any of the good baby type cleansers or creams you cant go wrong, I figure if it's good enough for a newborn baby then it's good enough for my dog. Coconut oil is good too. You'll need a nice range of clothing for winter :) My boy has more clothes than I do. There are plenty of Chinese Crested FB pages if you need any further advice...and I like to look at the pics of all the other Cresties. You see so many people saying they are a high maintenance breed...I don't know why they say that, mine is easy. There seems to be alot of talk about blackheads on the groups...well I dunno even know what they look like, do they mean the pimple type bumps? Anyway whatever...just leave them alone, dont poke or prod them, leave them be and all should be ok. I dont think they are anymore prone to them than any other breed, if you shaved all the hair of any breed of dog back to bare skin I bet they would have a few skin blemishes too. -
Thanks for posting that very sad link Ranga. I have shared it around. This type of thing really makes me so sad and I lose all respect for our fellow human beings...but there must be something positive in all this waste...something...anything

They CRUSH them OMG are you kidding? Poor people (far out any people) out there might appreciate some of that stuff. That's pretty sad

oh wow thats amazing seeing what people will throw out. We have a FB group here that is for giveaways. Does this stuff get thrown out or do they on sell it or donate it to charities? What area is this...I'm hooking up the trailer

Please excuse my ignorance on plucking as I don't have fluffy/hairy dogs...but just curious...does it hurt them when you pluck their hair/fur?

Scientific Proof For Not Desexing Until Fully Mature.
flame ryder replied to shapeshifter's topic in General Dog Discussion
Assume you have papers and are trialling in Australia? Lots of entire dogs compete in ANKC sports such as obedience, agility, retrieving, tracking, herding and endurance. Including my own!!! No papers -
Scientific Proof For Not Desexing Until Fully Mature.
flame ryder replied to shapeshifter's topic in General Dog Discussion
yeah theres are a heap of info out there...I find most of my stuff on the Rottweiler FB groups. But on the same subject I want to trial my boy later this year but apparently I cannot unless he is de-sexed. This is what I have been told anyway...can anyone confirm? I think that's a lot of rot, I mean I'm all for de-sexing but after doing lots of re-search I decided I want to wait till by boy is around 18 months...unless it is causing issues, which ATM it isn't. -
I am going away for a few days mid January. Have decided to board the dogs in kennels. I will be asking them what are their bushfire plans. I wouldn't have thought of asking it before this sad event

I bought some for my dogs for Christmas. They chewed on them till hollowed out, then lost interest. Yes they were really overpriced, too expensive if you ask me, considering that deer supposedly naturally shed their antlers every year. So one would only assume all the deer farmers would need to do is go for a walk around their paddocks and pick them up, and as far as I know there is no other use for them. I doubt I'll ever buy them again.

Cleaning Kennels - What Do You Use?
flame ryder replied to carolineh1's topic in General Dog Discussion
That would be Phenyle (sp?) Could be....and when reading the fine print on the container it did recommend for cleaning and disinfecting dog kennels as well as bin cleaner -
Cleaning Kennels - What Do You Use?
flame ryder replied to carolineh1's topic in General Dog Discussion
I guess it would depend on the finish you have on the floor. Nice smooth concrete might hose off well, but I have pavers with a slightly rough surface in the dog pen and it used to stink. Nowdays the dogs sleep inside in our bedroom so that has worked well for us. No need to scrub anymore :) -
Cleaning Kennels - What Do You Use?

I asked the same thing on here a while ago. Someone recommended the stuff that is used to clean out your wheelie bins (sorry can't remember the name). And it works a treat!! Really strong smell but I diluted it more than it said to and rinse well. -
oh yay off leash till 10 then and on leash after that cool. Thankyou :)

For those of you who live in Adelaide and like going to the beach with your dogs...does anyone know when Semaphore beach is off lead? We went there in the middle of winter and it was off leash till 10am (I think?) but not sure about summer. We are heading over that way soon and would love to take the dogs again. It was such fun being able to let them run on the beach without fear of fox baits (like here).

Vet told me that once the poison has worked on the mouse it has done it's job and is un-likely to do it again on any animal that may eat the mouse. Pest controller bloke who came into where i work told me Talon is the only brand that will work and the only brand he uses. Says all the other brands are just like candy to rodents (might make em sick but wont kill em). But yeah I really hate using poisons but when we have aviaries we have no choice. I try to be very careful where I place baits so the dogs can't get them.

Whats under my tree? Well today I got a rather un-pleasant present under my tree. A poo from one of the dogs. Yep thanks but not appreciated. Mutts!!! Just you wait till I see Santa doggies. There may not be any new squeeky toys or bones under the tree this year for whoever did that poo. Only some new flea shampoo

OMG that's fantastic! Would make a awesome chook run too
