  1. Have you considered a Chinese Crested, either the hairless (like my boy) or a powder puff. They are super cute, smallish dogs. I don't know if they are all the same but my boy is content to lay about all day on the couches and beds we have in different rooms for him. He follows the sun and like's to watch our other big dogs playing outside, but seems to have no desire to go out there with them. I make him go out a few times a day for toilet times, but in the middle of a cold wet winter, he aint keen, but will do his thing then run back in. He does however enjoy a walk, I only have to pick up his harness and he gets excited. Very laid back dog who loves meeting new people and never yaps. And if you get a hairless you get to dress them up too :)
  2. Groovy lol. Do they bother him? Does he try and shake them off? And yeah Pers mesh ones would be better, even my sunnies fog up some days. Hoping they come in small sizes, not sure if I'm keen to buy on-line as I'd need to see if they fit. Might try my local pet shop.
  3. When I go outside in the bright sunshine my eyes water. Add a bit of wind too and I have tears running down my face. My dog also shares my problem. He has awfully teary eyes when the sun shines. And the sun hasn't been out much lately...but today was nice, and Mojo had teary eyes. I wear sun glasses, easy fixed for a human, but a dog...? I have seen doggles advertised but are they serious eye-ware for dogs or just a fad, something to look trendy? And how on earth do they stay on? Anyone had any experience with them?
  4. Bentley is nearly 11 months. Mojo was 7 months when he was done.
  5. Yes that does look so much better...but by the time it gets sent here he wont be needing it anymore.
  6. Ok thanks everyone. It was only 2 years ago that we got Mojo done but I can't remember any hassles at all. Bentley on the other hand is being a pest, wandering all over the place, getting stuck on everything with his bucket head collar and leaving spots of blood everywhere. I thought they were meant to be sleepy after an op....but he wont settle at all grrrrrrrr
  7. I swear there's no sack on Mojo ( my Chinese crested). I was thinking of taking a photo but who wants to see that! You'll just have to take my word for it. Mojo went to the same vet clinic but was a different vet that did the op.
  8. Hi, I just got my male boxer de-sexed. He still has his sack. I don't remember this with any of my other male dogs, the whole lot is taken off, all nice and neat. I think it looks...well...untidy. Will it shrivel and disappear? I think I remember something about there being two different ways of doing it and depends on the vets preferences.....is that right?
  9. yeah when Mojo broke his leg I got a cheap pram from a garage sale so I could still take him out on walks. I think it was good for his mental health to get out with us. OH and son were embarrassed that I did this....but I thought 'meh who cares'. All healed now so the pram has gone
  10. oops I forgot to mention...he's a Chinese Crested hairless, clothes in winter are a necessity
  11. The pics are so cute. I dress my dog up everyday. He has more clothes than I do lol. I want the tuxedo for him...awesome!!
  12. Showdog can I just ask a question...you say you can't have holidays because of the business, but if you wanted to plan a holiday...say for example in June, could you just not take any bookings for June - kennels closed all of June ect? Would a smaller kennel (say 10 dogs) be viable as a second income? Sorry to hi-jack your post jozman, but it's all relevant to the original question :)
  13. If you really want to do this you must consider where you live. Do you live in a rural area and do you have close nieghbours? You will need to apply to council to find out if you can go ahead. The place down the road from me got knocked back on their application to the council...they are rural but do have a few neigbours pretty close, it was those neighbours who put in the objection. Then I started to think about doing it as I have no close neighbours so am reading all this with interest. I also started to think what might be involved and if kennels would need air-cond or heating which would make set up more expensive.
  14. I was waiting for someone to mention this. They are still allowed to own up to 3 dogs. Shouldn't be allowed to own any animal ever!!
  15. So what is 'Natures miracle'? and where do you get it from? Where can I buy the Aerfectant? Are they both expensive?
  16. My Chinese Crested is the same. To anyone who doesn't know him the grunting can sound like he's growling. I find it cute. If your Chi just grunts like my boy does then there's nothing to worry about. He's just enjoying the attention.
  17. Sorry I'm no help with a name but just wanted to say what a cool idea that is. If I was closer you'd have one extra volunteer. So many older people who would benefit from the companionship a dog could give them wont get one because they are worried about it's exercise, who will take it to the vet ect. My mum (85)is like this...she also wont get a dog because she is worried she'll die and the dog will be all alone, something not nice but needs to be discussed nevertheless.
  18. Sorry couldn't resist another Here's Mojo the day we bought him home at 12 weeks And that awkward teenage stage And a recent photo at approx 2 years old
  19. Bentley as a tiny puppy Bentley as a hansom teenager
  20. I bet it wont kill wandering jew plant, but I wish it did.....I have been busy trying to remove it all day. Tired now and still have to walk the dogs.
  21. Here's an up-date...lime didn't work for me. The area still stinks peeeeeeeeeeeeeeew
  22. yep it's pretty common. Most pups grow out of it
  23. I was also thinking of getting a heated bed for my little Chinese Crested. I have seen them at cheapo shops such as cheap as chips, ect. But I am not sure how safe and reliable they would be. I guess in the longrun you only get what you pay for. Perhaps try asking this same question in the general dog discussion part of the forum as not too many people see it hidden away in here.
  24. Yeah it's not actually in the yard itself but where i hose it off. Thing is when they poo in their yard sometimes (ok most times) they flatten it and spread it all over the pavers like some sort of doggy artwork, it then becomes difficult to remove so I scrub and wash...as a result the surrounding soil has yukky poo smell. I bought lime today and spread it around the offending soil...hoping it will improve the smell.
