  1. I hate throwing away the food. I think that's what almost bothers me most. Oh well, like everyone has said... She isn't going to starve. Can't believe that delivery guy thought he could actually get away with it. Some people are just so stupid. I ordered 2 bags yesterday and I'm either getting it today or Monday. Can't wait. Maybe she will eat all her food when it's just BH.
  2. She sure has got me trained :-) but I don't think I'm feeding too much. She is very trim. She has a cup of kibble and half a small can of sardines in the morning, a chicken wing for lunch and another cup of kibble and half a barf patty for dinner. But I might try doing as you suggested with her dinner. I don't mind her grazing on dry biscuits but I don't like leaving the meat out. Thanks for your suggestion.
  3. What's wrong with my girl then? I made a beautiful dinner for her, barf, BH, rice and flax seed oil... She gets this every night and barely touches it unless we hand feed... Even then she looks at me like "do I have to?" Breakfast is the same minus the rice and barf and sardines instead... and she is a lab!!!!!
  4. Thanks sheena. I just had a look at their website. What size did you receive. I can't justify spending more money on treats right now but when I can will definitely order some. Looks like you get 10% off if you refer The product to someone so will let you know when I order so you can get the discount :-)
  5. My house is small. 2 bed with a smallish living area. But we have a pretty decent sized outdoor area. Doesn't seem to faze her much. Besides she is usually just sleeping when inside. I think as long as the dog gets out for regular walks and exercise shouldn't matter too much of the size of the house. :-)
  6. Give the labs another chance! They are perfect size for an inside dog and big and solid enough for heaps of play and exercise and for you and your family to feel protected and secure. Your kids will have a big best friend and companion for many many years! Plus they are definitely the best looking breed ;-) I'll post some pics of my lab baby, that should convince you :-)
  7. Exactly, 2 days is nothing. I don't use a crate and personally don't see it would have any advantages for my situation because she is confined at night and is an angel during the day. She spends the day in the lounge with no accidents, no chewing etc. But we do spend a lot of time with her so maybe that has something to do with it. I guess if your not home much and don't trust your dog alone a crate would be a very good idea! :-)
  8. I have a 5 month old lab. We have got out girl weeing on the grass by comand and she never does a poo anywhere else except for her small grassed toilet area (only about 2.5 m square) you basically need to watch your pup constantly. The minute he looks like he is going to pee or poo somewhere other than where you want him to, pick him up put him on the grass and praise... Also we gave treats. Even if he is still in the process or peeing or pick him up and put him where you want! after food, play, drink, nap everything. I think we were taking our girl at least once an hour. As for night time, we have her in the laundry. She cried a little bit but we completely ignored her. It's really hard because you want to go and get them but if you don't say a word or make him feel like barking or crying will get attention he will eventually stop. We didn't get up in the night for toileting. We had to clean up pee for about 5 weeks in the morning (not fun but better than the alternative of waking up at 3 or 4). But now she holds it all night and doesn't make a sound. It is tiring and frustrating but if you are persistent she will get there :-) I'm definitely far from an expert but this is what has worked for me and Olive. Goodluck with it all!
  9. :-O that is horrid! That poor poor dog. Those owners should be done for animal cruelty!
  10. This is the best thread ever! I have giggled the whole way through! I love the spew icons... How do you make them? Thankfully my little girl has no appetite for anything bar liver treats, meat, rocks, sticks and socks so I'm safe for now.... Although I have been wearing a lot of odd socks lately!
  11. Does she pee small, frequent amounts? My pup did this at 9 weeks, she used to wee in her bed too. I figured it was a UTI and gave her antibiotics and the problems stopped! If you run out of ideas maybe it could be this? And before anyone freaks out about me medicating my dog... I'm a nurse (kids not animals) and I did check with my vet and he was happy for me to go ahead and told me the doses etc. :-)
  12. The yogurt drops are the smallest of them all. I bought lamb nibbles and chicken delights or something like that. I can cut these up but was just hoping for a no hassel treat option. The lamb ones could be cut with a knife but still too chewy. And I bought A kg of each. The meat ones are huge! I got biscuits and dental bones and other bits and pieces but was hoping to use the rest for training but that won't be possible. They seem to be very very chewy. Dju I wouldn't buy any that I have just mentioned. They would be better for a before bed snack def not for training! Olive isn't complaining at all though. She thinks they are fabulous!
  13. Hahah I didn't realise how much 1kg of yogurt drops would be. And they are bigger than a 5 cent piece so will probably last me a year... At least those break apart!
  14. Yes good idea! Might stuff some in her kong wobbler! That will keep her entertained when I'm sleeping after a night shift! Like I'm supposed to be doing now!
  15. Yes good idea. I figured they would be small and soft but not really, I had to use my teeth hahaha. So will probably chop them as much as possible as I ordered heaps and don't want them to go to waste! I use cheese and liver treats as well. Havnt tried sausage but I'm sure Olive will be grateful for your suggestion :-) She is 5 months old and seems to be handling a 10-15 minute training session ok. She does get distracted after that so we stop and play. I just read off her and if she is interested we keep going, if not its play time :-)
  16. Olivebaby

    Oh No :-(

I ordered $120 worth of treats from Australian pet treat company. The pictures showed small bite sized pieces, perfect for training! But they are huge and chewy and don't break!!! So now a 15 minute training session will probably take over an hour because my little girl is taking so long to eat them. That sucks :-( first and last time I buy online.
  17. I'm starting to think it might have just been a freak one of thing. Today she has been perfectly normal, beside the fact she refuses to eat her RC but will happily eat her rice, boiled chicken and some of her BH, though in small amounts.
  18. Thanks for all the advice. She has perked up a lot and is eating now. So I'll keep an eye on her and if she has any more blood I will definitely go to the vet. I have not felt any lumps or distension that would indicate an internal bleed. As for eating the sock. I doubt it. She only has it hanging in her mouth to get our attention. She runs away when we see her and drops it pretty quickly once we ignore her. Its very cute but annoying. Had another scare this evening when we saw a lot of blood on her ball. Freaked out a bit until we realised she had just lost a tooth.
  19. Yer was thinking the same about the vet. But felt bad not to give her any food as she hasn't eaten since last night. She is running around now stealing socks so maybe it was just a one of thing and she is feeling a lot better. Hope so anyway.
  20. Hi. Sorry in advance this is a bit of a gross subject. My 19 week old lab had a few accidents over night last night (number 2s) she hasn't had an accident for over a month so I found this really weird. They were very very soft. Now today she has had another accident in the house. Still soft but this time with fresh blood (just a small amount) and also mucous. Yuk! Sorry again. The only thing in her diet that is different is yesterday I gave her a small amount of black hawk with her other kibble. Maybe this caused the soft stool but what would cause the blood? She has been off food all day and all she ate was a piece of toast. She is looking a bit less active than usual but not too worrying. Has anybody got any idea?
  21. I don't really have this problem as i don't have a doggy door but my 4 1/5 month old lab sleeps in the laundry. We use to wake every morning at about 5 or 6 to her banging against the door and crying. Also a huge puddle of wee! I had the clever idea of alfoiling the laundry window so now she always thinks it's night... Even when it's not! She no longer cries in the morning but waits patiently in her bed. And no wee either! So maybe you could get him to sleep in the laundry and do that! Then you could open the Dog door in the morning and lure him to the toilet with a treat through the door! Don't know if it would work but thought I would offer a suggestion :-) good luck anyway
  22. Done! She has an otter tail woohoo! :-D
  23. I have never seen an otter tail :-S I know everyone goes on about labs having them but her tail looks pretty normal to me. Maybe I should google otter tail, I thought they were wide and flat like a platypus hahaha :-)
  24. Thanks, just contacted Wendy and she is off on the 30th until mid July, so I have enough food for 3 weeks... 6kg of food plus her raw should be enough for 3 weeks I imagine. If not she is a fatty!
  25. Royal canin 0: black hawk 1! Received the sample today and put half and half in Olives bowl on either side. The BH was gone in seconds and the RC remains! Good to know she hasn't got an eating disorder! Just a bit fussy obviously! The problem is now she is following me around expecting me to give her more! Cute :-) EI- do you know how long Wendy is Going away for? I still have so much RC plus my huge sample bag so don't want to buy it just now but dont want to run out of food in the mean time!
