Thats interesting. I have had one email and one phone enquiry in the last month. I have 6 dogs listed on the site.
-
They do have their own problem reporting system - not as easy to use as DOL but it may help if everyone reporting issues here went over and added their issues to the Petrescue site too. That way it will show up in their stats. (it's under 'post a public question' in the help area of the members section) That's fine doing that but all of us who use PR will not see the answers, we all need to know what is going on and if our concerns are being looked into or is the site now complete and we just have to use what we have. The publicly posted questions (at the PRescue site) are all visible to members and any member can post a followup question or supply an answer. I have seen this feature and some of the content . I still think this thread is a good way for rescuers to communicate about a very important change that is effecting just about every one of us. Judging by the feedback on here there are more than just a few teething problems. Our animals rely on this site to find homes so that more can be saved to take their place. Also some of us may feel more comfortable airing the issues here rather than on the pr website where it would have to be more sugar and spice.

Added a listing last night for a little senior dog in care which at first was ok. Then when i went to add more photos it deleted the cover photo and i cannot open the page to even look at the listing it says webpage expired. Today i tried to veiw the dogs profile again and same thing. I cannot delete it and start again. Hell i can't even open it. I also had some people who came to meet one of my dogs on Sunday mention how they did not find it user friendly and hard to search for a dog in their state. My enquiries have dropped to almost non existant since the new webpage has been implemented . Have had 2 enquiries in 4 weeks out of 6 dogs listed currently.
-
Agree totally on all these points. The addition of more photos is all i am happy about at this stage. I wish it was more positive but not very user friendly.
-
Might seem trivial but i used to be able to see how many hits the dog had to give me an idea of whether the profile was attracting an audience. Now i have to search it with the id no to check this now.

I think this thread was an excellent idea. The PR site is the number one option for pretty much all of rescue and it is a major change. If the animals are not listed due to issues with the site then it impacts on all of us. Good to discuss here. I have had a lot less enquiry but was putting it down to school holidays. Perhaps not after reading some of the issues mentioned.

Has anyone else had problems with the site over the last few days. As in cannot add a listing at all?. I know of 2 other people in rescue who are having the same problem. Have added 4 other listings in the last week with no problem. When you get to the section where you enter the breed it then deletes what you entered when you type in the answer to the next question. Thats not such a big deal but the site requires it to be entered otherwise you cannot upload the dogs profile. Then the site freezes. After following this thread i waited for a little while before adding a listing due to the issues discussed on here.

Is this the dog that was involved in the death of a Chihuahua in Sydney that was sent to Victoria? The dog has had quite a few name changes since then . Yes Cryptic, the dog has had three names so far. Cookie, Katie and now Livia. That is terrible . Last i heard from Parramatta council was that Cookie,Katie,Livia was living in her forever home in Victoria with no other dogs. The sad part is that the poor dog has been kicked from pillar to post with no actual stability and i doubt very much if she has had a professional work with her. I am not surprised to hear this though could we expect any different from them. Do they not realise that by making excuses for the dog and not handling this appropriately they have caused her to live a life of misery living permanantly in kennels . . . What that family have been through is heart breaking, the way they have been treated criminal.

I wonder if this dog has also been sent to Victoria like they usually do when the heat gets too much .

Amazing transformation. What a heart warming story. Chance is gorgeous & looks so happy now. -
Why did they not get a professional to assess the dog in the first place instead of placing it with unqualified carers who imo played a dangerous game by having this dog with small dogs. Even if they think it is all lies in regard to the attack. Think is the operative word in this case or should i say denial. They could have used some of the money from their hard earned donations from Joe public to pay for this dogs assessment instead of sending her interstate to god knows who. They disgust me to the point where i do not think that they should be allowed to operate in the self appointed role they have given themselves.

Wow. Pin her down and demand this opinion in writing, and if she doesn't, call her out as not doing her job properly, and go over her head. Also demand to know her qualification for making such statements and ask for that in writing too. Then when you have it, email council CEO and your local member and get them involved. Ask them if they know the risks in having unqualified council staff make public statements as to the safety of individual animals, and warn them they are giving official approval which will make them the target for legal action should the dog bite again. Sounds to me like Michelle wants it all to go away. Too hard. Well that is too bad for Michelle, because she is at the bottom rung in a chain of responsibility to ratepayers that do not want their council to be sued. I will be emailing her to ask for their response in writing Greytmate ASAP. Your points are very valid. Was just discussing this with a rescue colleague on the phone a few hours ago.

On Tuesday i received a call from a Michelle from Parramatta council & this is what has happened in response to the report i filed in regard to the incident. The dog has been rehomed to a person in Victoria who has no other dogs. Prior to this the organisation placed the dog firstly in kennels ,then in a foster home with other dogs including small dogs & then another foster home with small dogs. Based on this observation they have deemed the dog 100% ok & hence that is why she was advertised as good with all animals There was no mention of a professional assessing the dog.. The person in charge of the organisation was the point of contact with Michelle who stated that Kizzyneo had 2 dogs die in her care one of them being the dog that was attacked & she had changed her story to the original one that was told to her at the time of the incident. So once again the blame has been placed on the carer The other dog that died in Kizzyneos care was from a heart murmur even though on medication. I rescued both these dogs from Renbury & was aware that the other dog had a heart murmur as i was the one that had him vet checked. . Michelle went on to say that in her opinion as the dog has been ok in the 2 foster homes with the small dogs that it is unlikely the dog will attack again. Michelle also stated she will be meeting the head of the organisation in the near future & was looking forward to building a relationship with them. Perhaps the organisation head will act as a go between for rescue & council. I am not sure of the role they will be playing .

You don't know the circumstances. I don't either. Why did it maul another dog.? If it was in foster care how did this happen? Its not the dogs fault, most of the time. I own an AST,30kg. also a tiny bitsa JR etc. <2kg. I would never leave them alone together. Even though they love each other. Even play is closely supervised. Accidents can usually be both avoided and explained. Btw. I agree with your opening statement. Full disclosure is best for all concerned. But dogs shouldn't be condemned to death. Most of the time. If you go back to the beginning of the thread Shiner all your qestions are answered with a very detailed account of what happened from the owner of the small dog ,who was also the foster carer. of the dog in question. Page 1 post 14 by Kizzyneo.

I think another area that has not been touched on is the welfare & future of the dog that is now in the hands of this group. What now ? What is the next step in the scheme of things. I have contacted Parramatta council whose responible for the area that the attack happened. I have spoken & taken steps to have the dog declared dangerous but as the event was not in any way connected to me apart from the fact he was rescued originally from an organisation i fostered for & was in my care for 2 months. It is in a grey area. I have emailed this council as well. There is a woman there who has the details & i have her direct number. To be rehomed in the manner they are promoting is sickening. Please do not think i have a grudge against the dog as i feel that she has been let down enough already.

The whole point of this thread is that the dogs history is not only being hidden but also the dog is being promoted as great with all animals. Morally wrong on so many levels regardless of who started the dog attack. . The damage control is starting. The head of this organisation has called someone this morning to say that they know nothing about what is happening. They are reading this thread no doubt. Another person that is at the top of the chain was the one who attacked me via pm on facebook. Which i have kept & coppied.

If it is who I am thinking of yes they do hold a clause 16d and they do have a charity status Regardless of that u dont need a 16d as a rescue group to get dogs from pounds My mistake i thought unless you held a 16d your only option was to buy the animals from the pound unless your group was from interstate. Does this mean any person calling themselves rescue can get the dogs from the pound for the small nominal fee that a 16d holder can aquire them for?

So are they saying the foster carer is a liar? Because this is where it has actually been talked of by the person who experienced the whole event as their 'foster carer'. They can write all the emails they like, nothing changes that the dog they allowed someone to take on as a foster dog killed the carers dog. If only they risked their own dogs and their own yards with these dangerous dogs they say never did anything. Funny how it always comes down to other people lying when I don't think they could lie straight in bed themselves..... Edited to add, maybe they have such a big problem with DOL because they can't block and delete anything that is negative towards them unlike their social networking site Yes they are saying that she is a liar.& yes they like deleting comments & blocking people I have been waiting for this dog to be advertised as i knew they would not disclose what happened. . They are gathering a huge following & seem to be getting too big to stop now. I shudder to think what the future holds for rescue. I even had one of their supporters posting on my rescue page asking for donations a week ago. Some scam about everyone donating $5 to them to save dogs. I am sick of seeing this crap but it looks like they are here to stay. God help us.

The dog has been removed from the facebook site . For now. The current foster carer of this dog has sent me another message stating that all the people on DOL are liars & that this dog is not capable of attacking another dog as it has trouble chewing up chicken necks. This foster carer also stated she was a dog trainer who has worked with rescue dogs all her life. Funny that she was asking a dog training organisation how to go about working with this troubled dog before it came into her care. She works with horses and as you know they are a totally different animal. Perhaps one of the horses has fallen on her head at some stage which could explain her poor judgment.. This carer is in total denial over this dog & has an emotional attachment to her. . What i am very curious to know is whose clause was used to release the dog. This organisation as far as i am aware does not hold a clause 16d .

There is a dog being advertised with a large rescue organisation at the moment who has mauled a small dog to death. This dog is currently on a facebook site where some in rescue advertise their dogs. An offshoot to the large organisation which has a massive following and lots of public support.. ... When i contacted the person who has the dog advertised as great with all animals and kids via pm on facebook to ask her if she was aware of the dogs past she said yes but it was all lies and the person who was fostering the dog & who owned the small dog was irresponsible and had lots of dogs die in her care. This person has only lost 2 dogs in her care. 1 died of a heartmurmur even though on medication & the other is the small dog who was killed. . Talk about denial. Lets just sweep this under the carpet and pretend it has not happened.. Then ask for a photo of the deceased dog for proof. When the photo was supplied they stated how it was upsetting them. Then in the next breath i was told to email them the photo so they could send them along with the dog when it was being assessed by a professional. I would have thought the dog would have been assessed already its been in care about 5 weeks. There was a lot of abusive messages & threats from one of the heads of this organisation but that will not deter me. They were caught out with their non disclosure and false advertising and this made them angry. They even stooped to trying to lay a guilt trip in regards to the dog in their care saying that now a beautiful dog will lose its life. No mention of the small dog or the fact that there will be more die if this is not disclosed.Maybe next time it might be a small child. I would like to think that responsible rescue would not place a dog with a history like this with the unsuspecting public without disclosing what had happened. Would like to see more transparency with the rehoming of a dog with a history such as this. That is not too much to ask . . .
