My first week with my new D7000 and already loving it to pieces! So I will start with week 29 "Preparing for Puppy"
-
Right now I would probably say I prefer Rosettes, but this is a preference brought over from horse showing. :D I think if I ever win one, I won't mind what it was!
-
Oooh poor Sid! Make sure you get the bandaged changes ASAP if it has got wet, I have seen them go from wet to foot falling off very very quickly unfortunately. I have been lucky enough to perform this surgery myself and they usually go really well with a bit of TLC. :D

Waiting For A Puppy This Thread Is For You
Elise+Hudson replied to jess live die's topic in Puppy Chat
Hehe! Counting down to the arrival of my new addition too! Just need to buy the crate, toys and bowls (already have the food! haha) It is looking most likely that I will be getting a boy now, and so the name Bailey still fits, but I don't think I will be able to fully decide till I get him. 1 week and 5 days till my trip to NZ! 2 weeks and 5 days until I pick my puppy back up on the way home through Sydney! -
I am definately having a great time so far, but been working late so only getting to play with the flash inside my room (not very exciting!). Will hopefully get some better shots friday on my day off. I think I will be purchasing a 50mm 1.4 or 1.8 soon, as I would love to be able to create the lovely Bokeh that people seem to be able to create with the shallow depth of field. Although I havn't had alot of time to play so far, I think a longer range zoom and the 1.4 or 1.8 is in my relatively short future!

I will be joining this thread very soon! Picking up my Nikon D7000 tomorrow!

This is why I warn all my clients about the supermarket foods, particularly the packaged meats that come in the rolls. How sad for the poor dogs.

Hey guys! I have been using a great little point and shoot Panasonic Lumix FZ7 for almost 2 years now, but love photography and have always wanted a DSLR, even though I know so little about them and how to get the best out of them. So I have been doing a little research on what sort of camera I would want.. I wanted to take some portrait and landscape shots, but wanted a camera which could do sports photography (mostly horses) and today I came home with the Nikon D7000 with the 18 - 105mm VR lens! I am so excited to have a play with it, and also really excited that I will now have this camera when my puppy comes home and can get some great shots hopefully! I will be playing around with it now, trying to learn the ins and outs of this DSLR. I hope I have chosen a good camera to go on with and really think this will last me quite some time in my photographic life! But I would appreciate links to any useful websites people may have where I can learn more about using this awesome camera. :D
-
I only upgraded today! hehe.. I have been using the Panasonic Lumix FZ7 (or is it 10?) Anyhow 2 years ago it was the top of the range point and shoot from Lumix. :D I have got some fantastic photos from it but I have been itching to try out the world of DSLR, so today I purchased the Nikon D7000 with the 18-105 lens. I know I will probably want a better zoom lens in the future, but this looked like a good way to start!
-
I definitely have a love for all animals - which led me to my current career as a vet. :D I also have owned many different pets in my time, dogs, cats, horses, mice, birds, cattle! I have missed them all a lot since I had to move for my new job, but can't wait to soon get my puppy - I have never owned any dog from a pup onwards, they have all been older when they came home. :D
-
Hairloss can be caused by a variety of things.. Mites are one cause but other common causes of hairloss I see is ringworm, superficial pyoderma (infection) and can also be caused by more serious conditions such as auto-immune diseases and hormonal/metabolic issues.

Pup is coming from Dykinta A blue merle! I am so excited, only 3 more weeks for me! -
Having the breeder pick the puppy for me was something new when looking to purchase my first puppy, I have been in the horse world for a while, and obviously pups and foals are purchased differently. I am now 3 weeks away from bringin home my first ever purebred pup, it was selected for me by the breeder for a show pup, I don't even know if I am getting the dog or the bitch yet. But I fully trust my breeder and know that whichever pup I end up with it will be just what I had been looking for. I was alowed to make some requests, have have preferences, and if I wasn't happy with this you don't have to take he pup. The last pup I was offered I was unsure about so I just kindly said thankyou but maybe some other home would suit better, and it had a new home within the day .

Does anyone have a link to a topic or site which goes through everything you need for bringing your puppy home? I think I am going to be excessive on some things but forget something important in the meantime! :D -
Thanks for that! Fantastic! If I can sort out work and time off, I might have a very baby puppy there! :D I am still used to the horse showing and hope I can learn the ropes of dog showing quickly (well it will be happening no matter what, I just don't want to do the breeder a disservice!)

I have only 4 more weeks till I get my baby! I feel like I have been preparing and waiting forever! But at the same time I feel like I don't have anything ready! Crate, bed, food, toys! -
Hopefully I will see you guys there! You never know, the next show I go to I might have my pup!
-
Do baby puppies need anything to qualify for the royal? Or can any pup enter?
-
Have you ever considered trying Comfortis? It is working so well for everyone at work who have tried it! :D
-
So each class will then go for their own section in breed... So Minor of breed, Puppy of breed, Junior of breed? I am just wanting to learn as much as I can before I can start showing! Thanks so much for your help, and all the previous advice in this thread!
