Oh yeah They even said to me.. boy Elise he is so well behaved.. :p haha
-
Wow that was fantastic! I took Hudson into work today, and he will not do anything I ask him with people around who he can talk to! haha I look forward to practicing though and learning some new things!
-
Just read through the rules, it will be a while before Hudson is anywhere near ready! He would at the moment need a command for sit at the halt, he would probably run in a circle around me on recall + jump on the judge during SFE, which probably counts as 'attacking' and disqualification! hehe
-
Ok great! Thanks for that I will have a look through it. :D How do you begin training stays? I have started getting the sit and drop fairly consistantly now, but I don't think he would stay for many steps! Also for the recall how are they supposed to return to you? He would come fine, but are they supposed to sit next to you or something? (please excuse the dumb questions)
-
Oh good Hudson knows the difference between sit + stand just on hand signals alone now, although I did teach him stand before sit.
-
Has anyone else combined competing in Conformation shows + any dog sports? How did you and your dog cope? Conformation will be the main thing I am concentrating on at the moment with Hudson, but I am keen to eventually do agility and possibly obedience as well when he is a bit older. Is this even possible? hehe
-
I was wondering if someone might be able to show me where I might be able to find some info on obedience? I don't have a club nearby, but I am starting to be more interested in it, as my little guy has been picking up a few commands SO quickly lately. What age can dogs start trialing at CCD level? Is there somewhere I can see the rules, I know nothing! - can you give hand signals? voice commands? The sits and stays at CCD level are on lead, are these just by your side, or do you walk away?

I don't think the numbers should be made too few, otherwise your top dogs are all going to have the same scores. Changing the number of shows which count will not stop people going to shows every weekend. What if you like to show a lot, meet new people, relax.. I think it would be unfair not to count results for your dog once you have done 20-25 shows! My baby has only been showing for a month and already has 11 shows under his belt (this is only 3 weekends mind you) so the limit you are thinking of here seems very low. Just my inexperienced 2 cents, but I am sure I am not alone here. :D

That reminds me TSD, Hudson just LOVES coke bottles or anything plastic that crunches!
-
I hadn't noticed too much of a change with Hudson, until I opened his mouth this weekend at the show and noticed the first 4 incisors were gone + his back molars are starting to come through. :D He has started wanting to chew on my hands again, and had been very good up until now. I am glad he is still being very good for the judges to look in his mouth!

Oh good, I was debating between a full bath and a clean up, glad I didn't go too overboard. He was covered in mud after sweepies on Saturday! -

Greater Western Show - Kelso This Weekend
Elise+Hudson replied to stonecutter's topic in General Dog Discussion
Had a great day yesterday, although it was cold, wet and somewhat windy as well. :D There was a few good slips and slides in the ring to keep everyone entertained. I also discovered that Hudson doesn't like showing through puddles.. hehe, So I suppose it was a learning experience. Although he did come home with a win in the 3-6 month sweepstakes, and best baby of breed. Will be back on Monday to try our luck again! -

Hey guys what time does judging start in the morning? -
Hudson had his second show on the weekend just been, and went to Hillsborough for the international 6 shows. :D He did SO much better than I could have even hoped for and ended up coming home after taking out: 6 x Baby Puppy of Breed 1 x Baby Puppy in Group 1 x 3-6 Month Sweepstakes win (I think with 25+ entries!) Will get a new photo of him shortly! After just 2 weekends he now has 50 points in the rising star comp!

Hillsborough 6 International Shows
Elise+Hudson replied to Elise+Hudson's topic in General Dog Discussion
Yes Huntia that was me! How funny we ran into each other that day, hope pup is feeling much better now! :D I just spent until midnight tonight in at work trying to keep a dog alive I had just done serious emergency surgery on, so now I have nothing packed, Hudson is brown and dirty and I am soo soo tired! So if anyone at all can hold me a spot.. close to the working dogs if possible, but anywhere near a ring would be awesome. If you message me your number I can text or call you? Also will anyone have a microwave if they are taking a camper etc? Just wondering if I could bring some frozen meals or I need to find other food once I am there. :D -

Well the plan at the moment is to leave on Thursday afternoon which should get me to the grounds around 10pm. Hudson's breeder will be there, and I might be able to see if she can save me a spot. I was really hoping to get a seat where I could see some action! Having only the one baby makes for a fair bit of spectator time! :D -

I am hoping to get my gazebo set up on the friday morning, I probably won't get there till close to midnight on thurs, or I will have to leave quite early friday morning! -
Just wondering who else would be there for this weekend? Hopefully now I have the general gist of the show ring, who goes where and when, I might have a few minutes to just relax in the middle of the day and try and catch up with as many people as possible! I will be there for all 6 shows with Hudson :D This will be his second show.

Sitting is going well, I have been luring him at the moment, and trying to start to fade into just the hand signal. For drop ideally I would love the drop from the standing position, but at the moment I am trying just by luring down and forward from the sit, but he seems to struggle a bit and just looks at the treat. On the bright side, our stand is really getting strong!
