   Same pool as what Sasha has although I have never seen her do this. She usually just stands in it. Great pic though. Sasha would love it if we lived at the beach though she loves to swim

A Few Issues With A New Foster
lilmisssascha83 replied to Staffyluv's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
awww poor Gussy. Where is the show? Do you know what times? -
I go to the Symonston one with little miss Sascha. Have been going there since the beginning of this year. The good thing is that you can use the grounds 24hrs. I know somone who lives out in the Tuggeranong area and goes to the symonston club. Either way I think your dog will have a great time. I have found that Sasha LOVES going every Sunday to socialise and learn new things. OH and there is a cross over of instructors between the clubs and also the RSPCA. I tried for a while to get my dog into the RSPCA classes but couldn't get in so I then went to the Symonston club.

Bella, The Elephant's Friend ..
lilmisssascha83 replied to persephone's topic in General Dog Discussion
awwww so sad but I'm glad Bella had such a wonderful life. I watched a doco on these two and it was just amazing. -
Yep my previous housemate is GREAT with my animals. I don't usually just trust them with anyone but I trust her. Sasha gets soo excited when she sees her and my kitty headbutts her ( which is unusual for my kitty to do to anyone but me) My housemate looked after my pets when I had to go away and is fabulous with them. They are her pets when she is in Australia. :-)Saw her today for the pets party and Sasha was just soo excited.

A Few Issues With A New Foster

Yay keep up the good work. I'm happy to hear he is going so well. -
I owned a Rough Collie and she really was the sweetest dog ever. I still miss her but she died due to old age. Gromming must be done everyday to keep their coats in good condition. And when it's shedding time, BOY do they shed fur. you could pull gently at her fur when she was losing her winter coat and clumps of fur would come out. The grooming I would do was constant and their still was fur every where. So if you are ok with Dog hair and constant grooming then go for it. If you want more of a low maintance dog in terms of grooming I'd get a short haired dog. However they still malt. My lab sheds alot even though she is brushed regularly but it's not like when I had my collie. We use to joke that we could make a jumper out of all the fur that would come out. I could fill 3 bags full. What about a lab?

Some Ideas To Keep Heelwork Exciting
lilmisssascha83 replied to Mason_Gibbs's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Am going to keep watchin this thread for ideas too. Sasha finds it boring too and so do I LOL. We never practice for very long as it isn't the most exciting thing. I do try to play little games with her while doing it -
I totally agree with the spa pic. Its just so funny. They look so happy.

18 Years Old And Dumped, Poor Little Bugger

gosh this is just so heartbreaking. How could anyone dump their pet after 18 years? :-( So glad that someone has adopted him. -

How has Gussy been going? -
Well another day at school over. Sasha was awful at everything except for her recall ( she was BRILLIANT) and if she was being marked I reackon she would have gotten full marks LOL and her sit stay and down stays were also brillant especially as the teacher was adding distractions for the dogs ( i.e. toys and balls) and seeing as Sasha LOVES these I wasn't sure if she would stay. She definately showed interest when the ball rolled passed her but she stayed in position ( I was soo proud). Such a little thing but still a big thing for us. Also was told to practice targeting an object. So we practiced at home today with just the lid of a chinese container and she was getting the hang of it. YAY. Not sure if I will do the exam to pass transition yet though. Every time we go to class it's like the teacher picks on us in a way and we just stuff everything up. I think I must be intimidated or something. Or maybe it's just her way but Sasha can do it outside of class ( we practice everyday twice a day) and then every Sunday in class its like (fail, epic fail). I don't know my left from my right turns, my right about turns to my left turns, and her heeling is all over the shop when we do the figure 8. :-(. Oh well will just keep practicing. She still creeps forward in the position changes, despite me practicing on a step. I think she just doesn't like me being so far away from her ( 3 metres). Meh if we fail transition class this time we will just repeat it next year but it would be awesome for her to show the teacher that we aren't stupid and that we can do all these exercises

Will see if this works. Sasha and one of the sprinklers after class today. I just wished they had turned them on sooner. LOL Just click on the pic

Yay if I can figure out how to put video up here I will post a video of Sasha after class today. When we were leaving, someone turned on the sprinklers. LOL. Considering how hot it was today, Sasha had a great time playing with the sprinklers. LOL. Wished I had managed to get her inital reaction though. Here are some beach pics. Going again in a month's time. I know Sasha will LOVE it as much as I do.

wow my faith in ppl has been somewhat restored reading this thread

Awww that is so lovely that you have made some great friends on here. i hope your dog is all good now

I would say labrador but it's unfortunate your OH doesn't like them. I have a rescue one, only weighs 22 kilos ( she's a smaller lab). Otherwise what about Rottis?? I grew up with Rottis. They love to be with their family, are great with kids, love to have a romp and play

A Few Issues With A New Foster
lilmisssascha83 replied to Staffyluv's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
great job on the training and congrats on your new puppy. Don't worry about being on the training thread either. I think I go here heaps to learn new things I can improve on with my dog or to get some advice. I hope everything continues to keep improving for you and your boys. Its amazing what a change in environment, setting ground rules and a little love can do. -
A Few Issues With A New Foster
lilmisssascha83 replied to Staffyluv's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
oh the other thing I just thought of as I just made one for my girl is if it is hot, make him an iceblock to keep him occupied too. I has just made one, just put some fruit in it and a little bit of peanut butter but mostly fruit as my girl loves her fruit LOL -

A Few Issues With A New Foster
lilmisssascha83 replied to Staffyluv's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Yay I'm soo happy to hear the progress with the sit. That's great. I was also wondering that maybe he didn't respond so well as you have given him a new name and it takes time for them to learn it. Sasha didn't have a name, and when she was fostered they gave her one but it was too long for me to yell out in a park LOL. Plus with her personality I thought it just didn't suit her as much LOL. Regarding the jumping up, if he jumps up on you turn your back on him straight away. We do this in dog school. We had a puppy who entered the offlead area today and he jumped up so I immediately turned my back on him ( the owner was happy). I've had to do this with another dog at school who is currently being fostered who is a kelpie and she is a wonderful dog but would also jump up so same thing, turn your back. I hope you also occupy him with a kong toy. Frozen is good too, and smearing a bit of peanut butter on it is great. Works for my girl although she does manage to get it out too quickly if I dont' stuff it well enough. That said she's usually pretty knacked after all the activities I do with her in the morning but Kong toys and a big marrow bone do keep them occupied. Maybe try giving him a big marrow bone when you are there but placing it in the backyard so leave him out with it and you go inside the house and see how he goes. Not sure if this would work as he would probably know you are there but if he is crying when you are in the shower you could try doing this first inside the house while you shower and then progress to outside. Persistance is the key though. Some days I get frusterated when training Sasha as sometimes its like she's forgotten everything I've taught her but I just keep persisting and then when she gets it, its just so rewarding. Its kind of like, "I did that" I taught her that. -
