  1. OMG how awful. I really hope the dogs are returned safe and sound. Rotties are amazing dogs and I know the owner would just want them back. Hoping for a good outcome
  2. It happens. Nothing to worry about. Sasha had a shocking day one week and school. the teacher just didn't bother has Sasha had given up before we started. I figured she was just tired. Turns out I was right I think. The next week she was a little star. :-)
  3. I saw this too and Betty is just gorgeous. I did have a cry at the beginning though hearing her story. Why are people so cruel to animals. She looked wonderful at the end. Soo happy. So glad she got a good home and she certainly looked so happy with her family :-)
  4. Wow I couldn't agree more with this thread. I wish wish wish I could do this. I have holidays coming up though and can't wait to spend more time again with my beautiful furbabies. My beautiful dog gets 2 walks a day, before and after work and she does have things to do during the day but still I wish I could just stay home with my furbabies, Can I have a share of the lotto too?? I think dogs and other animals make so much more sense to me too then some of the people I know.
  5. This is the best thread ever. Sasha looks like an angel LOL. She doesn't do any of these things. I do love how the dogs look so innocent in the pics. They all look like they are saying "what? I didn't do it" LOL
  6. LOL Love this video. Also makes me smile
  7. I agree with this thread wholeheartedly. Although it was initally my cat that has taken care of me before I got Sasha. My beautiful cat stayed with me when I couldn't get out of bed, woke up when I was awake and couldn't sleep, still to this day gives me cuddles when she knows I'm not well. Animals just know. Silly Sasha makes me smile everyday with her sillyness, playfulness, happiness. From chasing a ball, to being little miss social and having to meet all the dogs at dog school. Plus she is a dog that always has a great big smile on her face. Everyone says to me "look at that smile" LOL. Occassionaly she will rest her head on my leg or roll over for a tummy rub, or bring one of her toys to me because she wants to play. Its the simple things that animals do that can really help heal a person. I truly believe that whether it be a cat, dog, or any other animal they really have the power to make you feel loved, no matter what and to make you smile and laugh ( which can't be a bad thing )
  8. LOL oh the poor victim. LOL j/k Well lucky for me I"m usually all alone walking Sasha in the awful weather here in Canberra. Doesn't matter if it is minus 6 in the morning or 8 degrees in the afternoons we both go out and she wouldn't have it any other way. Especially when it's been raining. She's a lab too and you will often find us running through the puddles and mud LOL. I think she would be more upset if I didn't take her out twice a day. Sadly it seems that we are the only people walking in our area. Haven't seen anybody with their dogs in ages.
  9. Yep, same here. Not a fan of frogs at all though I definately am more of an animal person then people person I think. I think animals are just so facinating. Love most dogs, love cats, but mine are obviously my favourite. I grew up with dogs, cats, chickens, rabbits, guinea pigs, budgies, quails. I am not a fan of mice at all. Really don't like them. Or rats. ekk. Love watching animal docos on big cats, meerkats, seals and I have a love affair with Elephants. If only I could have one.
  10. I count Millie's birthday as the day in October I got her as well :D :-) when did you get her?? I got Sasha on October 14. 2 days before my b'day :-)
  11. awwww Man I"m soo jealous. Hopefully one day my cat and dog will be like this. I think my Sasha would be great ( as she is very good in respecting Mish Mish's space) but Mish is still a little wary of her. Mish is a stray that had been mistreated before so it took ages to get her to trust me, when I got Sasha is hid the whole time the first week but now they can be in the same room together with no dramas. They have touched noses before but Mish still is a bit standoffish. One day they might be like the above pics. Such beautiful pics.
  12. Mason is the black one, he belongs to Mason2009. Millie is the chocolate one, she is my rescue girl who we think is almost 5, and Ruby is my baby girl yellow one, who is 4.5 years old As much as I'd love the full colour set myself, yellows steal my heart so I'll be getting another yellow at some stage. Wow they are all just stunning by the way. The 3 colours do look beautiful too. I just love the pics. They look so happy :-). I was thinking of maybe one day getting a chocolate one as a playmate for Sasha. They have a few chocolate ones at lab rescue at the moment but it has to be the right time. In the meantime I should have totally taken a pic of Sasha's chocolate lab friend and Honey ( her yellow lab friend). Next time they are all together I will do it and post it for you to see heheee.
  13. The birthday cake toys are great, I bought 8 of them recently for my Jasper's 1st birthday & the rest of his brothers & sisters from my 1st litter. They love them, but I had to eventually take it of Jasper for a while as I got sick of hearing the "happy birthday" tune. Ohhh where do you get the birthday cake toys from?
  14. Rubystar- I just KNEW you would do something like that.Even though I don't know you personally you did get one of your labs from where I got my Sasha. I LOVE the pics. Party hats and cake hahaha. I have made up Sasha's birthday. I count it from when I rescued her, so still in October but this thread is giving me lots of ideas tehehehehe
  15. Panto- that pic is just too cute for words. :-)
  16. Hi I would go for a rescue dog that is from a rescue organisation that fosters animals in the homes. I got my lab 8 months ago from Labrador Rescue. She was fostered in a home that had 2 dogs and a cat. They usually takes Labs but they have taken labs x I believe. Most people think that my lab is a x with a kelpie but really you can only see lab in her except that she is about the size of a kelpie. I highly recommend them. These dogs live in the foster carers homes and become part of their daily routine until they find there forever home. I was able to have my dog on a trial basis for 2 weeks to see how she went at my place ( I also have a cat so needed a dog that could live with her). I know someone on this forum who lives in WA but got their labrador from Labrador rescue so even though most of the dogs are fostered in Canberra it is possible to still get a dog from them but it's best to talk to them about things like that. I"m still in contact with them now 8 months later to let them know how Sasha is going. They are fantastic people really care about these dogs. http://www.rescuealabrador.com/dogs_available_to_adopt.html See link for there website if you are interested. Don't rule out all rescue organisations, this is the first contact I have had with one and they have been fantastic.
  17. How much was it?? My Sasha might like it. Will have to check that Petbarn here stocks it though LOL
  18. I'm so sorry for your loss. We are all thinking of you.
  19. The poor thing. I hate to think of how much he is suffering. It is an owner problem not a breed problem.
  20. OMG what a beautiful story. Gah tears in my eyes too. My dog is rescue dog and I just admire those who work in rescue so much. You have done a beautiful thing.
  21. OMG this is just awful. Poor dog and owners and you for witnessing it all. Can't believe someone would do that especially when the woman nearly got hit herself. Sigh just sad. Wished that someone got the number plates or something. I hope the dog is ok too. Poor little thing.
