  1. All pretty much applies to the Saluki (and sighthounds generally) as well. Don't get a Saluki if.. - you don't want impressive holes dug in the backyard - you want to leave food out on a kitchen bench without being eaten by a tall, hungry hound - you want a dog that always greets new people with enthusiasm (mine usually does, but many are more reserved) - you don't want the dog on the furniture (not just sofas and beds, Salukis love the view from standing on top of tables) - you don't want to be asked by every other person you run into 'what kind of dog is that?' 'is that a Greyhound?' 'did you clip your Afghan?' why is it so skinny?'
  2. I hope the person who filmed it cared enough to help the poor dog out afterwards.
  3. Gosh, that's got me in tears. So moving, I hope that poor dog is being cared for and loved now. How blessed we are to share our lives with animals that love is so deeply.
  4. Have a smashing birthday Charlie, and may you have many more!
  5. The 'peace and quiet' room is out of bounds for Bella, as is my mum's bedroom. She's only allowed on the sofa if her blanket is up there (she got the hang of this very quickly).
  6. It would depend on what exactly you want to do in the pet industry, there are specialized short courses for dog training and grooming around. There are different courses for vet nursing, but generally I would suggest Cert 3 in Companion Animal Studies at TAFE would be a good way to start, or even the Cert 2 in Animal Studies. What sort of work are you hoping to get into?
  7. I'm certainly not an expert, but I think the Parson Russel Terrier is leggier in build.

  10. He's a stunner, I love his eye patches- very unique! Such a gorgeous boy Gus is!
  11. Has anyone taken showing classes at Southern Districts Kennel & Obedience Club? I'll be starting classes there with Bella soon. I'm hoping to enter her in our first show in late March.
  12. That's a great deal, and a reasonable size. Not sure I'd trust Bella not to de-bean it though!
  13. Pippa is nice, and can be 'Pip' for short. :) I really like that one. Probably when she arrives you'll be able to easily pick one that just suits her. :)
  14. DogSportObsessed- Gorgeous shots, I love both photos od Jess, it must be so hard for you to choose just one photo each week. Jenni87- I really like the first one, great colours and very different. I do love Goldens, yours are beautiful. :) I had trouble choosing between three for Week 6, so I'll post the 'runner up' as well. 6/52 6/52 by panGH, on Flickr ...and one of my other favourites Bella by panGH, on Flickr
  15. What a gorgeous bag! The colours work really well, and Kenya looks rather impressed with it.
  16. I've always liked the name 'Fly' for a Border Collie (I always loved her in Babe!), I think 'Shadow' is nice as well. I also like 'Ivy' and 'Bramble' as potential BC names. :)
  17. Yes, I do. I'm not planning on having children so Bella is my 'baby'.
  18. A day is the most I've been away from Bella so far, but will be going away for three days in April which will be good practice for when I'm away for two weeks in July.
