  1. The case for or against the Police being on the property is crystal clear. Access can be denied. I do not hear an argument to justify the shooting of the dog. On the contrary, in NSW, it is not an offence if the dog is protecting property. It seems to be the ultimate case of animal cruelty from those who are charged to protect us from such barbarity. Unless someone can convincing put the case to acquit the officer, then I am on the side of the prosecution to sue for deprivation of a whole gambit of legally protected rights and priveleges.
  2. It could be a 200kg brute, it doesn't matter. Shoot to kill is a last resort, and for Chris' sake, a puppy. Victorian Police are trigger happy. Its well documented. HW You haven't read the comments to the article. A Jury would not condone this Mavericks' actions.
  3. I'm not going over this territory again. Posting a sign "Access Denied" has been canvased before. re: Jed My dogs are Maremma, they're not harmless when protecting property and either should they be when protecting property. Police in the UK don't carry a gun. We have a US gun madness situation here. Police are supposed to protect our property from "other police" too. They're not exempt. Maybe they could make a note to themselves: "don't shoot the dog"
  4. OMG! Not again, the contentious and inflamatory 'Policeman shoots dog' Here, it is not an offence if the dog is protecting property. Peoples rights include the protection of life, limb and property. Dogs are property. It seems to me Mrs Elliott has had her common liberties denied by by a rogue. IMO There are many false negatives, and I've had more than my fair share. They are expensive, time consuming, frustratingly annoying and innane. Police don't enter my property, but maybe NSW police personel have more brains. Beggars belief really. RIP Bruiser.
  5. A fond farewell to man's best friend
  6. Supervision or separation might be done better. There were no witnesses. The child was alone and knew the dog. Should not have happened. Dogs and children (6 year old) should never be left unsupervised. Stupid adults.
  7. I am also annoyed at dogs rushing the fence, jumping the fence and chasing my dogs when we are out walking. Jumping the fence. WTF. Aggressively running the fence. WTF. Chasing my dogs up the street. WTF. There is an obligation and responsibility to report. My dogs are double fenced inside a six foot fence, 10 metres back from the property fences. No one interferes with my dogs and all the dogs can do is bark, if they're interested. I expect the same from others.
  8. Also done. Had to add Maremma Sheepdogs.
  9. Or maybe, just maybe, the coats have been continuously groomed giving thema different appearance. I know my dogs looked markedly different after a bath and a brush.
  10. I've seen it. My new puppy girl was caught in a fireworks storm at Condoblin. They have the Dog Show and Ag Show concurrently. Bloody ijots.
  11. Multi Champion Ramon 58kg Audio is in Italian.
  12. Rare find. Very observant. You must have a very clean dam. They don't come too far down the city rivers because they like clean water and towns have too much pollution. With any luck, he will nest with a mate.
  13. If anyone takes the time to make more that a precursory look, the facilities are barely adequate for the size of the operation. They fall way sort of being 'state of the art' facilities, irrespective of the State (Q) they are in. Out of the NSW regulations for breeding cats and dogs:
  14. Agreed. Nice grassed runs, kennels set up high. Nuh! Disagree. Cheap and nasty if you look closer. Just a lot of tin and wood. It wouldn't win any awards. And where's the plumbing? In other words it's illegal. Buyer beware.
  15. Errm. That's double. Maybe they need to sell because they can't live with themselves anymore.
  16. There's no emoticon. God save Me. I bought a JEEP.
  17. Advantix. Kill them, all of them and smash their eggs.
  18. Jo, If you look through the thread since the beginning of the pink nose comments you will not find me supporting either side. I am quite capable of considering both arguments, analysing and synthesising the material, and then making my own final evaluation. What you will see, however, is a lot of rattling inside my head. I am not breeding 'pele rosa' dogs. In fact, I don't currently have a bitch here at all. Then the confounds have not been eliminated and the science has no VALIDITY. Not all dogs go to working homes. I would like to think that we could be working towards some kind of a protocol for dogs that appear with 'pepe rosa' I'm not familiar with AR material. Why would I read rubbish in the first place? Then this is the faith you are trying to peddle. If its unknown then you only believe it is so. I have a lot of experience with the unknown, enough to know nothing remains hidden, there is evidence if one knows where to look. The question then is: What have I seen? I think my answer has already been stated. pussies. lol
  19. Hmmm! Ahh, finally some sense. Well from you at least. lol I get the argument about skin cancer, but I don't have the science, nobody does. So, hear me out. I have more than a superficial understanding of genetics and I know that not all recessives are lethal. My current suspicion is that by calling for a total and absolute cull (breeding, your terms) you may be throwing the baby out with the bath water. Genes are sacred and you don't know, nobody does, what you might be removing from a limited and threatened gene pool. Now the argument I have just made has merit. A few points. The number of 'pele rosa' Maremma in Italy is significant. In fact, they exist in such numbers that they have been classified as a sub-type. Surely, over all this time, the health problems that are being conjectured would have presented themselves many times over. On the other hand, I know a woman who nursed a Maremma with cancer but, as far as I know, it wasn't a 'pele rosa' dog because I asked her. Cancer is not restricted or exclusive to 'pele rosa' dogs. Consider that if you had a 'pele rosa' dog that had every trait in the Standard, and in bucket loads, would it not be fortuitious, or who would forgo such luck based on inconclusive science that may ultimately prove false. I'm not advocating breeding such a dog, I'm just doing what people who like to think do. :)
