  1. mission accomplished. Arawn Maremma Sheepdogs
  2. Ammo, and neutered. They're all hams in front of the camera. Its good to hear he has kept his assertiveness. How lucky are you! He has good conformation. His pigment could be fuller, (black nails and darker eyes) but many of our dogs lack excellent pigment. He is definately an Australian Maremma and a good one to boot. Unfortunately, unregistered dogs cannot be shown at ANKC sanctioned shows, although I think there are some neutered shows. It would be worth chasing up his papers. And thanks again
  3. Here you go The head tends to be broad with a rounded crown. However, we don't see many of these in the show ring here. And, you didn't tell us his name. Regards
  4. Thanks. His side profile is fine. What's his height? The front profile is deceptive. He has a timid look and that tends to detract from the character of the head. He has a good stop. Also the angle of the head can give a possible misread. Beautiful coat and well held tail. As a rescue I would be bold enough to say you have been fortunate. Looks and brains there. thanks again
  5. Three is a lovely age, his character should be well formed and any bad habits would have been evident. Maremmas, particularly the boys do mellow considerably and you can expect all of the good things multiplied by 10. His active guarding, I suppose he guards when walking and in obedience, will become less 'jittery.' The great thing about Maremmas is their propensity to guard, or protect becomes fixed, so it can be known, but can only be slightly modified. Therefore the rest is a management issue which some people do not want. Congratulations on a well raised dog and I would probably call you on the point that he is not show material. Maybe a few more photos, in time. Regards T
  6. :D Thanks mixeduppup. Well done on the socialisation. I might be able to provide some guidance if I knew his age. I have four, all different in personality.
  7. Hi mixeduppup. :) Very nice dog. How old is he, where is he from, do you show or are you going to show him? Thanks for putting up his pics, and feel free to add more.
  8. People who want to make some money should complete a Certificate IV in Small Business. Trying to turn dog breeding into a money making venture is simply lazy and deluded business practice.
  9. We had a 14 year old kennelled when 'Sooki' was in season and he was keen and agile enough to mount. He wasn't allowed though. The semen must have a minmum sperm count of 200 -400 million, when a normal healthy count is 2000 -3000 million. Too old? Not likely. They're mammals and its a boy thing.
  10. Maremma Sheepdog. If you can get past the prejudicial ignorance about their temperament. See the testimonials here: Gemelli, Heraldus & Lumen, Maremmas will be whatever you want them to be, but they will always stay a Guardian first.
  11. Hi Steppenwolfkennels. I paid $200 for an AI recently which included the collection, extension, sperm count and vaginal insertion. So, the cost would be close since an analysis would only not require a vaginal insertion.
  12. Gorgeous puppy. And welcome to the forum. However, I cringe at these discussions. It puts us in an invidious situation. Rule No 4. DOL is a great resource, and often genuinely lovely people have a sincere need, so I was wondering if it is time to lobby Troy about the "What breed is my dog clause." DOLers appear to enjoy the exercise and it is very educational. I think, it's worth a shot. So as a person with a vested interest you might want to raise the question in the Suggestion Forum. Px
  13. Hi mini girl. :) I remember crows in Brisbane Bloody noisy things!! Crows will attack anything if they are nesting. However, its a bit early for nesting. As far as feeding goes, you will have to watch and see if they have any interest in the pups. Personally, I would not take the chance which means I would be with the group at all times while they are outside. Good Luck Px
  14. Eagle beagle Legal beagle Regal beagle Johnny beagle (Johnny B Good)
  15. Of course not! However, if you have a flea problem then certainly use a treatment. Fleas are seasonal so why use it in the 'off' season. Even in flea season, unless there is an outbreak or you live in a high flea region, it is overkill to use it. Dogs scatch for many other reasons like removing loose itchy hairs and biting themselves with their front teeth is a preening practice. Regards Px
  16. I think they are lovely names. Ann On Ann Onymous Sue Donym Nonde Plume Although they might all be happier if they could write: Shall Remain Nameless Ehhh!! Tralee's not my real name either, but I knew who all of you others were as soon as I read your avatars. :D Maybe that's the usefulness of signing in Ann Onymous. Then people won't know who you are.
  17. Hi ellazpupz. :) My dog 'Flynch' just graduated from "Northern Rivers K9 Sports Club Inc" I've been to a few obedience clubs with my other dogs. This time they also did a good job with the other dogs that were there too. Contact Annette 0438 668 756 [email protected] The class is thorough and competently conducted. It is far and above much better than the last club I took my dogs to, which I won't name. For obedience, following puppy school I think you would find it more than adequate. They also have advanced obedience and agility which is a good sign of a decent club. The class is run at Goonellabah. Regards
  18. Very nice grapvic. My paternal grandparents are Daylesfordians. And I spent a lot of time at Trentham as a teenager. Lots of those driveways around here though..
  19. Is that your fridge? I want the fridge. You can have the chocolate pudding. :D
  20. But yes there is 6. Daughter reckons she needs a new bed too, alas she is now going to nag, knowing she has all you folk agreeing with her  I counted 6 There's usually one under my bed, sometimes two. Depending on how long you expect her to stay at home, a bigger bed would be a good investment - no explanation needed surely. If not they're good for guests.
  21. Well I think the issue needs to be advanced. But I make the comment guardedly because it is Troy's forum and his wishes must be respected. I also see what must be his point that despite the need to discuss the issue openly I don't see how it could be done without raising armageddon. Unfortunately a lot could be gained from much wiser heads but obviously the time has not yet come. I had to talk a lady with a recent PhD out of getting a labradoodle where she would have been required to allow breeding access and surrender all offsring. I mean for God's sake, ....
  22. I need to make sure the door is fastened at my place. The four dogs collapsed a solid wooden bed when they all sallied onto it one morning. Combined weight with me in it, 270kg
  23. Clever will do thanks Steve. I'm not cleverer than anybody. I return you to my post. The purple face comment was a stand alone comment to you. I know how passionate you feel about what you do. The rest was to the other posters particularly the OP who should not have posted in the first place. Having said that I feel a vacuum over this issue and it does need to be thrashed out. Ignorance is not good but it can't be avoided when everything is done clandestinely. Well the rules are clear. No elevation of non ANKC breeds and no moral exhortation or excoriation of them either. Careful Steve! There are many questions surrounding the development of 'new breeds' and answers are also needed to explain the disasters that have and are occurring. But this is not the place. Basically, there is enough going on with ANKC breeds without adding the political armageddon that would ensue. If people don't have the foresight to understand that, then let them be condemned and removed from the forum. Personally, it seems to me that the Australian Bosdog looks destined to be a success. But the developers were either very lucky or highly skilled. And this point is paramount. Those trying to develop the Labradoodle are obviously not lucky and very poorly skilled. What this suggests to me is that people who desire to develop new breeds need to be qualified, certified and given legal sanction. But that's another story and is not for here. Regards.
