You haven't defined temperament or rather undesirable temperament. In a working dog breed there can be a range of temperaments. I have dogs at both ends of the range. One, extremely 'dog and people friendly' and another, very 'dog and people assertive.' However, they both fit the Maremma temperament. One is slightly wary of strangers, the other is extremely so.

Stress can cause the symptoms listed. There is a technical term for the discolouration and poor survival rate. As a veteran now of several litters, I would not consult anybody less that a reproduction specialist. You would not go to a GP when you need a Gynacologist. Also, the point about choosing to breed changing the dynamics of natural birthing is well made. Breeding is an intervention and an interference. What this means is you have to know what is happening at every stage and in every circumstances.

I had a similar incident while living there in 2006. A teenage boy could barely restrain his dog from attacking my two adult Maremmas. Its a good thing, all three dogs were on leads. The most disturbing part was the dog's aggression was not territorial, protective or provoked. Simply a Dangerous dog.

Aqis Considering Reducing Quarantine To 10 Days.
Tralee replied to *Lolapalooza*'s topic in General Dog Discussion
Its a good proposal from the standpoint of not having young puppies isolated from their prospective homes for excessive periods of time. -
At my house, that would be a pedal bin. :D

here Hi BlackJaq Since you are in the Maremma thread, Maremmas are good. Maremmas work here on 46500ha protecting livestock. Maremmas were developed over 2000 years ago to guard against Bears, Wolves and thieves

I think he wants to have his own business. There is no money in rescue. Good luck with that. Life:: There's no money in it.

There was a story recently about a woman who set up an dog rescue/shelter/kennel type thing, for the street dogs in Bali. This might be your sort of thing. I should imagine there would be a different type of funding/cost arrangements for this type of charity/social service. You could also look at going into rescue, here.

Good idea. I kept a puppy from our second litter and she had a tick which I couldn't find. It cost a bundle and she was only a few months old. The question I would ask myself though is: Would I insure my dogs with Petplan? If yes, then that would be good enough for my puppy homes. Regards

I don't know? Perhaps find out the Insurance companies that offer the promotion. Should be easy enough by contacting some Vets or walk in and collect the brochures from the front desk. Then contact the companies and ask for the applications. The Vets may have some too. I am not sure but I think they came with a particular product. I don't think the breeder can subscribe to the Insurance on behalf of prospective owners. Each owner would have to accept the offer themselves. Its a good idea though Good Luck

Puppy schools do the same. They simply pass on the Insurance Companies promotion offers.

I just looked up Scoff Stopper and found one of my puppy homes who have not kept contact. I think they changed their email or something. They'd left a comment and the Dogs name is unique and unmistakable. I also recognised the Name of the person.

Currently its a processs of elimination. Word of mouth is a good indicator. Vets can be separated by what people say about them. Other times its your experience, how you are treated or how they treat your animals. Sometimes its their billing system and other times its all of these things. I would travel to Fernvale Q if I lived closer, but that's how it goes sometimes.

Beagle. I have only had experience with a male, but it made an excellent 'boy's dog' I also took the dog in well after the puppy stage and it adapted very well. Regards

My Puppy Ate Half Of Her Rubber Toy Bone
Tralee replied to sashagirl's topic in General Dog Discussion
Well probably not. You may find little pieces of rubber around the place. Dogs don't have hands, so they use their mouth. Puppy is likely to be more interested in the texture than trying to eat it. -

Extremely Inactive Dog (particularly Acute Inquiry).
Tralee replied to Tralee's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Just a quick report to let you know that the dog has become more active. This does not mean that he is chasing rabbits, only that he moves around on the floor without trepidation and occassionally stands and walks about a bit.
