  1. Can't help with the tummy but let him chew. He can be vaccinated at 6 weeks. Put something in his mouth when he bites, and encourage him not to bite you. Dogs don't have hands, they use their mouth to explore. Enjoy this stage of puppy mayhem. And good luck with the intervention.
  2. What a terrible loss and an awful discovery. Samantha
  3. I can't see why they have to maligned. Maremmas are more authentic in the way that you get out of them what you put into them. Having said that though, they're not for the novice or the pretender.
  4. Sorry I don't get what you are getting at. I have worked in veterinary clinics for years and I have no idea what you are alluding to????? I'm not alluding to anything. The teacher will tell you quite openly that he had a very close affinity with pigs and breeding. Made me think twice about my ponderings over the Vet life. Anyway, I can't believe no-ones mentioned NZ, or I missed it.
  5. I was discussing this topic at work today, as one of our teachers used to be a Vet. He kept leaving the room. I won't discuss it further but it doesn't take much imagination to picture the veterinary clinic from time to time.
  6. That's OK! I banned sex with Germans decades ago>
  7. Hoping there's many more years to come. Be strong Bella, relax, be confident and brave. Its not your time big girl.
  8. Can you recommend one for those who can't? Always a challenge with a breed from a country of origin that isn't English speaking I know. Nope.
  9. Il Pastore Maremmano-Abruzzese: Il Cane Della Transumanza Gian Franco Gianelli Il Pastore Maremmano-Abruzzese Bottini Terruzzi Franca Cani Di Razza: Il Pastore Maremmano-Abruzzese Mario Scarpelli Il Pastore Abruzzese Giorgio Di Tizio I'll post pics in edit later It helps to be able to read Italian.
  10. Crikey! My big dog gives daddy a 'kiss' on command, when he's in the mood. I was trying to be sensitive because some people are completely grossed out by any kind of licking. btw I think my Lab might be a compulsive licker. I have just realised that she licks way more than any other dog I have ever owned. Dogs don't have hands so they use their mouth.
  11. Crikey! My big dog gives daddy a 'kiss' on command, when he's in the mood.
  12. My thoughts exactly. The owner, Zuess's mum, not my missus seems to have things in hand. Meds, Vet. and payments are being overseen by VSS Carrara, Q. The whole process has been one big doubt and maybe, so this is just another one, I hope.
  13. Can anyone tell me about missing teeth, please?
  14. Seems to be pers. Giving the dog tabs is a lot different to having the will to undergo major surgery. Will know the outcome in 4-6 weeks
  15. What they hell thay are doing allowing with these superbugs to compromise the surgery is beyond me. Anyway, complaining won't help. The good should eventually outweigh the bad, at least I hope so. Puppy is home now, and not happy about it apparently. So, Ive planned a visit for the new year.
  16. Finding a Vet (that can do the job) is better than an account or insurance.
  17. Hmmm! It always seems like it would have been a good idea in retrospect.
  18. Agreed From Dec 2006 to Dec 2012 is 6 years 1 payment per month for 6 years is 72 payments. @ $50 per payment the total of your premiums is $3600. Just the large claim for $15 000 leaves a considerable difference not to mention adding on all the other minor claims.
  19. Heaven and Hell. If I'm still living in the 'burbs in 12 months time, please shoot me.
  20. Hi Unfortunately, puppy has a bone infection. The bone biopsy cultured a pseudonomonas colony. 4-6 weeks of antibiotics. Anybody had experience with pseudonomonas bone infection? Regards
  21. Extraordinary responses. A lot of contradictions will only cause confusion. In the context of temperament, which is the paramount issue for dog owners, a dog left to its own devices will become feral. The more intervention, rather the more correct intervention, the lower the production of undesirable temperament. Unless the parents are pathologically aggressive, then the dogs are almost totally a product of their environment. That said, intervention begins from the whelp, food obsessive and fussy eaters should be avoided.
  22. With all due respect: You must be kidding. Will he go blind, too?
  23. I've had four dogs, two males and two females. All four dogs were raised by me from 10 weeks of age. All four dogs have different temperaments. Each dog's temperament can easily be corresponded with the environment and socialisation they received. Each dog had a different environment and where socialised in different ways. I'm not attributing any of the four dogs temperaments to the parents temperament.
  24. Do not encourage the behaviour if you don't want him to do it. You have to consider that trying to stop the behaviour is a form of attention and we don't know how the dog interprets that attention. Withdrawing any infrastructures, whether that's a leg or whatever and ignoring is appropriate. I have a female who went through a similar stage but now has no issues. Here is Sooki humping Big Bunny
