  1. Omg it's a doogle dog they are the coolest looking dogs
  2. Well this vet is the best I have been with them for years they where there for all my horses problems my cats and they did all they could to help our gsd kovu they even let us pay his hip op of and didn't charge us anything when we had to put him down we had whole practice in tears. He will be in good hands he is booked in for his op on the 2nd week of jan Hope it goes well
  3. Unless your vet is a breeder of your breed and is active in the showring, I would not be listening to their advice re whether your dog is/was a breeding prospect. He does agility with his dogs and he never said he was a good breeding prospect he was just being polite. Way to jump to conclusions!
  4. I know but it was more expensive than I thought it would be just a shock to the system I w as thinking about 250 it cost that much to have the vet called out when my horse had hurt his leg and need stitching and bandaging
  5. Just got a call for my vet ( he was out at horse that was stuck in a fence all day) and he told me to expect zorro's desexing to cost about 300+ depends how easy it is to locate his other testical normally a dog his weight would be $180 my poor pup the vet said he was sorry it didn't drop as he is such a lovely dog temprement and confirmation wise I told him I was worried it might be going cancerous and if I should have just done it t 6 months he said it will be fine and it's better to ha e waited to see if would come down as the surgery for a normal desexing has a quicker recover and if they have to go searching so I will see
  6. I suffer from a really bad back ( too many bad falls of the horse) I find a hot bath helps alot or really hot shower. If it is really bad on show day you may just have to take a pain pill I don't like taking them but once is not going to hurt you
  7. Yer I tried ignoring zorro but he would just do the cutest cry and look at me with those big cocker eyes and I give in but he doesn't suffer from anxitey when I leave thank god.
  8. My council registration is free for dogs who are desexed and microchipped other wise it is $75 a year
  9. Oh well I sent them a email saying I was disappointed and explained why it was important for a pup to stay with its mum untill 8 week and that thy should print it up and display it for people to read because they may not know oh well I hope they listen at least I have tried
  10. Oh okay well she asked me which one I would like then I told her I was just looking for now so might send them and email telling them thanks for letting me know guys
  11. Hey guys I went to Brisbane today and saw a pet shop with puppies so I thought yer they are cute and one of the girls came over and started talking to me so I asked how much they where and they where $600 sobi thought I would ask how old they where and she said 7 weeks and they got them last week. Now I can't find anywhere that says if it is or isn't illegal to sell pups that young so just wondering if someone knew thanks:)
  12. Well my experience with gun dogs is that they can be very very intelligent but at the same time big idiots that do the stupidest things like run head first into a glass door or just the wall they have lots of energy and could running all day ) I suppose that is what they where bred for) and very people orientated so not the best guard dogs they try to lick the intruder to death. That is what zorro is like ( English cocker spaniel) but my sisters short haired German pointer " badger" was the same also my great aunties English cockers and springers and setters all that the goofy personality. Oh and I should mention all totally bird obsessed
  13. I don't like any animal more than another with the exception of pigs and cow I like bulls but not cows all the bulls I have known are such big softies and the cow alway charge me and everyone else. I like cats and dog because they both have their funny moments and horse because they like me
  14. I beg to differ out gsd kovu knew it was Christmas and was just like a child and would wait for his pressies with everyone
  15. My nanna owns a cocker and when she gets put into a nursing home it will have to be PTS because its just so aggressive with other dogs (wants to attack and kill other dogs), wont leave her side and is just so attached so I can see what you mean by the above. Thankfully the dog is old too, hopefully it will go of old age before she has to be put into care, but I daresay the time is coming closer Me thinks the cockers you both have mentioned have some bad breeding. Zorro is fine with other dogs and is very submissive and definitely non aggressive so I don't want a breed that will be to dominant with him there is a jRT in his obedience class that is aggressive and it latched on to zorro's ear when they where saying hallo and the other jRT that Andy liked is always muzzled during its class so hence my concern that they maybe a bit to much for him. It's funny I say he is a well adjusted Andy says he is spoilt ;) lol thanks for all the feed back very one it has been great and very helpful
  16. Zorro is being spoilt for his first Christmas so far he has: A soft toy for kids it's a football with a bell in it 3 squeak toys a warm coat for winter a raincoat with snood clippers a rope toy a raised bed for out side a new bed some new tennis balls and treats oh and he will be shareing Christmas dinner with us so turkey roast veggies and gravy
  17. Good idea pooch mad I would love to adopt and older dog but Andy wants a pup which is fair enough I will have to as the breeders about that
  18. I hear alot of people saying its fine and that the pup needs it to get socialized but it can have a negative affect if you let people just run up to pat the pup or other dogs come over to say hi to your pup. I have to tell people not to let their dog just run up to zorro and jump on him as he is not sure about new dogs and this started when he we started taking him out he got bowled over by bigger dogs and barked at by little dogs so now he is so cautious about new dogs. Once he has said hallo he is fine but untill then he is not sure and I could have been prevented if people had not let there dogs jump on him and there where a few nastie little dogs that snapped at him we did meet some grey dog owners that would hold their dog so zorro could sniff and they let their dog dog sniff him but they did it slowly and carefully which was great. There was one incident that I think started it when he was 13 weeks he had his last vaccs at 12 so we thought we would take him for his first beach walk and we popped him on the sand to have a sniff and he loved it he was digging in the sand and just being cute when a bichon ran over and totally sent him flying then it was barking trying to get him to play but he was only pup and didn't know what was happening I yelled at the owners to get their dog while OH picked him up and they just said " oh our dog wants to play and that ts important to socialize dogs" I got a bit mad and said " yer socializing is great but not when it's a 13 week old pup on his first outting and he gets terroised by a dog that is bigger than him, so thank you for possibly scaring my dog for life and walked off" I could have gone and told the life guards that there was a dog of lead but it just wasn't worth it. So there is nothing wrong asking people not to pat your pup and just tell them they should ask first as it is rude not to ask and its fine not to let your pup interact with every dog as some dogs might be to much for a young pup and like with what happened with me it could do more harm than good specially with a GSD. BTW GSD pups are cute it got me thinking of My kovu I still miss him
  19. Well if we got a terrier then it would be his dog he would feed it and train it as I'm not a terrier person I like my gun and working dogs. But he I think he has his heart set on one as he was going to one at the dog obedience party an he was constantly commenting on it and I have never heard him pay so much attention to one dog before and he even said he would one. Thanks for all your replys guys they are really helpfull. I was mostly worried about temperament as zorro is so submissive he was getting picked on by a small black fluffy mix breed today it was smaller than him and he just hid behind me with his tail tucked right up poor boy. So I don't really want a dog that will be to dominant.
  20. Hey guys okay I finally had OH convinced to get another dog and had my heart set on a girl friend for zorro a black and tan cocker but I think my bf would really like a jack russel or a fox terrier I'm not a big fan of them but zorro is my dog he follows me every where even to the loo and I thought it would be nice for him to have a dog that would be his. Now I know he wants a girl so that is all sorted and better for zorro to but do you think cocker spaniels and jRT of a FT would be okay together I know they are both high energy dogs so they need the same amount of exercise? Zorro needs alot he gets an hour walk and a good game of fetch in the back garden ( he could keep going but I get pooped) he is also with me at the horse and gets to run around there, would that be to much for a jRT or FT? Also temprement wise would they suit zorro is very submissive but also very playfully and has never bitten another dog he is a big girl . Also some thing that I forgot to think about is how zorro would feel about having another dog around if the dog was mostly Andy's he would be fine but if she attached herself to me I dunno if he would like that I don't think he would get aggressive but I'm worried it might make him ill or withdrawn? Any help would be great
  21. Some people are rude I snapped at a lady after I had enough of people comeing over to ask me if my dog was vaccinated we would have about 3 people everytime we went out ask me that. Hen I snapped I had a really bad day and the lady came running over to me I thought something was wrong and she need help from the way she was acting but no he asked if my dog was vaccinated so I did swear at her I don't normaly snap at people but I had enough. Stuff like this happens when you have a pup they just attract alot of attention
  22. It is still your dog now nothing they can do tell them to go to the rescue shelter and talk to them about it
  23. Ask them why tey never picked him up from the shelter and just keep walking
