  1. ugh typical Thats the general reaction i have personally found from the public towards GSDs. How long ago was this? 4 years ago now
  2. Just put him outside or in a crate that's what I would do. And maybe talk to a trainer about it. I wouldn't desex because of that but I'm agenced de sexing my dogs as alot of people think that it's healthier for the dog but really it isn't and yes I have studied it as I'm doing a natural therapy course for horses and dogs an I choose to do extra study and it was about the desexing of animals but that is another topic, it sounds like a behavior issues which can be fixed with training not just the dog but you as well. Good luck and tell us how you get on and what you decide to do.
  3. I know we saw a golden retriever out side a cafe once so thought oh good they don't mind dogs so we went over y dad sat outside with kovu our gsd ( he was long haired and he came with us when we moved from England)we went in and ordered and asked if it was okayto sit outside with our dog and thy said no problem we have dog out there all the time they are not allowed inside, so we sit outside waiting for our drinks and kovu snoozed under the table when the girl brought out our drinks she looked at kovu having a snooze then quickly rushed inside and got her manager oh then came and told us to move as he did not want a dangerous dog outside his shop!!!!! So we had a bit of a yell and told him we wanted a refund which he tried to refuse but the lady with te retriever came over and joined in telling the manager that he had just lost her as a regular customer as our dog was well behaved and not being a pain the the arse like the toy poodle that was there the other day and then she walked of. He did give us a refund thank god seeing as we pointed out that we had not drunk our coffee and we had been told dogs where allowed outside. Some people just see a gsd and immediately think omg it's goig to kill me even tho that doog is having a jolly old snooze!!
  4. http://pawsforthoughts.webs.com she makes lovely suff
  5. Omg that made me think of when my dog kovu died 2 years ago I cried all day and I remember the day before we gave him all the best treats big meaty steaks sausages everything. We had the vet in tears and we had him put down outside so he could see the trees omg I'm cryin again I should not have read that
  6. Yep small dogs they have only been the dogs I have ever had problems with, big aggressive dogs have been fine with me much to the owners amazement!!!
  7. No he will never be locked in it outside he gets full run of the garden nor inside he will be properly trained with it tho to be in there with doors shut but I only want it if he goes to my mums for a weekend and to use it as a warm sleep place And I don't remember saying he would
  8. Zorro has teething breath its ewwwww but not to much as he is almost full done
  9. thanks everyone i just bought a metal crate and i will get a soft cover for it as he is a bit of a nibbler ;) just looking at the covers
  10. Hi guys i want to get a crate for Zorro my OH was suppose to build him a kennel for out side but i don't think he will ever get around it and he has now warmed to just having him inside with us. i was wondering about getting him a crate a fabric one as it looks good looks like it can have good air flow and it can be taken with us if we go camping and if he is staying at my mum's ( his Nan's ) place. now if i put it outside under cover how would it fair up we have a BIG under cover area and it would only be while im at work or if we go out at night time? and what about warmth he is a cocker spaniel and i intend to keep his lovely long coat and not get it clipped ( brushing is our favorite time of day) also we are in QLD so in winter it doesn't get too cold and if it did he would be in side with it? also can anyone recommend a good one to buy i have seen a few on eBay and such but im not sure how good they are? Thank you P.S tried to find a post relating to this but couldn't so if there is one please send me the link thank you.
  11. Zorro watches tv some times and if a dog on tv starts barking he will start to and trot around looking for it. It's just sooooooo cute
  12. Curse not having a short coated dog otherwise I would so be there I have done modeling before I would also ask my OH too!!
  13. i took my pup to the markets the beach everywhere with me before he was fully vaccinated i just held him all the time, well me my mum and my Oh so we could share the load not that we got far as we where stopped every 2 seconds... i should have set up a pat the puppy stand i also had a picnic blanket to put him down on for a bit water and a puppy pad to pee on so he didn't have to go on the grass so he never touched the ground and i didn't let him get sniffed by other dogs. but really the thing is your dog could just as easily get parvo from someone coming to your house to see him. but that was all in our local area so we knew is wasn't a high risk area the town near us was but we are not might be all the salt in the air ;)
  14. the GSD was on a lead he was tied to the house and the guy grabbed him as he ran over to help ( might have thought a big dog would scare them off) the swf's where on his property as i was kinda walking back wards and ended up on it but i know what you mean, lovely GSD tho he was so calm with Zorro jumping on him. i just a pain half the street went to the council office to complain as they where ignoring us and we had written down times and what not, we had finally thought it was over and this week she has put up a proper fence but now she leaves them outside in the front with not fence i mean WTF!! i hit one once i thought that would make her want to keep them in and out of the way but nooo. ( just found out the GSD is an old police dog i went for a walk and we got talking about them i talked about my old GSD ) :D
  15. I agree with what everyone is saying about the new laws but that might not stop her or her OH going for a different breed so I would give her a bit more info than that like I said jut drop in to a conversation with her about dogs Ans tell her some stories from HD to behavior issuses and yes if she is keen on the staffy then mention the new laws
  16. Okay a few months before I got zorro I came on to here with a problem about 3 swfs that where always on the road and finally the council after months or calling them wet around and told them to keep there dogs properly contained or They would be taken ( that was after I had hit one with my car ). So they have put up a fence after keeping them inside but they just leave them out the front and today I took zorro for his walk up the road then they came flying over to us barking and growling ( they are about the same size as zorro) he was so scares but I picked him up then the little sh@$ts started snapping at my ankles!! Thankfully the new guy on the street who is building his house ran over with his gsd and helped try to shoo the dogs away but it wasn't until the gsd who bit one of the little dogs ( after it was snapping at his ankles) that they ran away. Anyway it's was only then that the lady came out of her house and had a go at the guy who helped me and was threatening him!! So I called the council again but because I knew where they came from they will only send a letter to the address and when I said to her that they actually tried to bite me all I got was " oh you said they where only little dogs they wouldn't have hurt you!!!" I'm sick of it I thought it was all over and now we have had people move in over the road who have 2 dogs and they let them outside the front to run around and they shit on my lawn and others lawns I was going to head over there to say hallo and introduce my self and zorro and was goig to ask if they would like to join us on our walk but I got outside and the dogs ran over to me and zorro growling and barking so I quickly got back in side it's such a pain I'm sick of it. Anyway rant over anyone else got dog neighbors from hell or just neighbors? Sorry for any spelling/ grammar mistakes as I'm on my iPhone.
  17. I tend to join in in the conversation I normally start with " aww they are cute!! What little darlings" then let the other lady talk for a bit then just ask" have you asked about the testing for hereditry deases" then I fid you will normally get hit with a blank look so then I would start talking about them" make sure both parents are health tested other wise your poor pup could get ill and make sure the breeder shows you tests" and go on from there stay friendly maybe talk about your dog or rescues and ask if she would like help looking for a pup
  18. With horses it's also about the agisment agreement alway get them to sign an agreement with cost and care include and make sure they are issued with a recipt everytime because if there is no agreement written and signed then you will not get paid if you have a dodgy person and there is not really much you can do about it but if there is an agreement you can take them to small claims
  19. I wouldn't do that as they may never see the money that's owed
  20. I would expect one or two little leaks and if not outside straight away as the excitement might trigger something. Glad to hear he is quiet
  21. Migt feel safer with the door closed and when it's open pup is coming to look for it's mum I would just keep it closed or bear with it till pup settles down might take a few nights as pup will be a bit older
  22. Dalmatians are such beautiful dogs, the mum looks so regal! I have 4 sleeps to go until I pick up my cocker spaniel pup And we will need lots of photos cockers are the cutest
  23. Yep every time someone farts I ask who was that? If it was zorro he will look away and will not make eye contact and he will do a little whine, but if it was my BF he will not look that way as he knows it was not him and will look normal. I think feels guilty
  24. Omg poor cockers I have one if that happened to him I don't think he would recover!! Some people are idiots I'm glad everyone was okay and it was good that you where there to help well done!!
