  1. He was outside looked like he was playing with somthing then came in and started frothing but I found a dead frog this morning I couldn't see it last night it was a green one so I think that might have been it as there was nothing else at all he could have gotten I checked
  2. Yep that is what I did first he is fine Now I will keep my eye on him but I think hewill okay I don't think he will likes toad again
  3. Okay zorro was foaming at the mouth but acting fine I rinsed it out with water and called the vet he asked to check his temp and that was normal I asked if I should bring him in and apparently they had 2 dogs in surgery after being hit by a car so they where full and only taking serious stuff so he told me to keep an eye on him and he is fine now no foam it didn't last long and he is now sleeping he didn't panic so I think I will se how he is in the morning he could have licked a toat or something. ( I live an 1 hr out of town so that is why I called the vet)
  4. Zorro is like that he cannot get enough of people he loves them to bits and they love him but he is scared meeting new dogs and I was worried for a while but I found out once e had sniffed there bums he was fine he just had to get in to have a hallo sniff first so I wouldn't worry to much about it she will figure it out she is still young and very cute :D.
  5. Barking at dogs in the tv running in to walls when he is not looking where he is going and doesn't like dogs unless he is able to sniff their bottoms then he will jump all over them. Oh and stealing washing out of the basket wait for me to see him then runs of with it hopping I will chase him. I think that it is it for now.
  6. Actually I would second a beagle they are lovely
  7. A golden retriever would be good they make lovely family dogs, labs not to sure what else I would suggest a cocker but they have high energy
  8. What sort of grooming are you will to and what about exercise? How much will the dog get? Also I would only get one puppy to start with. Have you considered an older dog? Might be easier with 4 kids as you know the temperament and you miss the stressful puppy stage
  9. Oh thanks guys will there be one next weekend somewhere in qld?
  10. Love grooming I'm keeping zorro's coat long I'm not going to shave it. So ling haired is fine
  11. Hi guys I'm stuck on what breed I want to get next. I want to get a friend for zorro and I want to start showing. But I'm not sure if I should get another cocker I love them to bits but I also have a few other breeds I have always wanted. A shetland sheep dog a springer spaniel or an English setter anyone else had a cocker with any of these breeds? I'm going to wait till he is a year old or 2 years but I want to start looking at some breeders as there are long waiting lists for some breeds Thank you
  12. Aww what colour if you don't mind me asking? They must be excited
  13. oh he gets exercise all right but nothing wrong with all day cuddles on the couch when its raining ;)
  14. You have attacked them before in the BLS thread!! I have never met a bad cocker. Only way for there to be one is bad breed like with every breed!!!!! Or people being nasty to them so once again like every breed!! They have one of the best temperaments you could want in a dog I have met more aggressive labs than cockers 2 bad labs and no bad cockers There's good and bad in every breed and to suggest that there are no Cockers of undesireable temperament is a nonsense. That doesn't make the entire breed 'bad' but it does suggest that some careful research (as the OP is doing) is called for. Almost any breed that has been extremely popular at some point will have its issues and Cockers share that with quite a few other dog breeds. Based on what I've seen, I'd not buy a dog from a breeder that isn't hip scoring and PRA testing. Word of mouth from people who own stable, non-aggressive dogs would be my recommendation. A trainer I highly respect describes Cockers as "wolves in sheeps clothing". I think that some of them are far too much dog for their owners and they need boundaries like any other dog. They are a gundog, not a lap dog. I think many of the issues I've seen in Cockers relate to making that gundog an unexercised, unstimulated, undisciplined couch potato but not all of them. i did not say there where no nasty cockers just that I had never met one. im also not to sure about the lap dog bit Zorro would cuddle allday if he could!!! if im sitting on the floor he has to be in my lap right in the way lol oh and the picture is look i get when i say no not that it last long he will walk away flop on to the floor and do a little cry so he ends up on my lap anyway
  15. Whiskedaway please let us know how their search is going, and what colour do they like :D
  16. We got defensive because the op wanted info on breeders and her relatives have had them before and sansgrubber brought a topic that was not really needed and I have known sansgrubber to bring up topics on cockers like that before even when cockers where not part of the topic

  18. Aww I remember picking kovu up he had spent the whole time walking the kennel looking for a way out and only one girl could walk and feed him. One word of advice don't call out to them to soon or the will drag the poor handler with them!! Oh and the lead getting tangled in everyone's legs as you are greeted with alot of joy
  19. I would go to the main dogs online site and look through the breeder list and give them all a call as they might be planning a litter soon and you can ask about visiting and the health tests. Maybe visit http://cockerspanielclubsa.com/ and ring someone they would give you a list of good breeders
  20. They have the best personalitys and same deal with every breed choose the right breeder the health tests for cockers are PRA and FN the only rare colour is chocolate or chocolate roan and even then most they would cost is 1300 but really they have the best temperaments my little boy zorro I could not wish for a better dog he LOVES people and that is the way they should be, only temp problem are from bad breeding like with every breed. Have a look at the Vic cocker spaniel web site they have some great reading info about them. They are a generally healthy breed and like I said have the best temperaments they love their owners and everyone else they meet some can be shy but that comes down to socialization. I'm going to try zorro out as a therapy dog as he just loves meeting people and could be cuddled by everyone for hours ( as long as he passes the leaving food alone I'm not sure of that one But like I said read the Vic cocker sight they have great info http://www.cockerspanielclubvic.org/
  21. I'm doing time out with zorro I think it's a must be acocker think lol Jarvis is SOO cute zorro still bites a bit but If I say no he wil stop or just give gentle bites so he is much better now
  22. You could smell different after being in the hospital that might be why she might be confused that you don't smell the same
