Ummmm sorry to be so blunt, but who cares????? We are not in the dark ages now. If you made less than a dollar an hour, and were lucky to eat 100 g of meat a week, I'll bet your standards would change. Sorry but that is no excuse to to treat and butcher animals in such nasty ways!! It's not hard to kill an animal in a way where it feels little to NO pain. In fact some of those ways would be called Stone age.

Horse riding is one of the most dangerous sports but thdn again there is a chance of you getting seriously injured or killed everytime you get in your car. My mum has asked me to stop doing cross country and show jumping as she is scared next time I will be going to hospital in a bag and that I should stick to the natural horsemanship. But I would be lost if I was not doing what I loved and luckily my bf has not seen me have a bad fall so he is not telling me to stop

Nope you have it all covered and remember games are also so a great way to learn. I put zorro's collar on when he got home I used a lite little collar and he was fine.

i asked about the desexing when he was last in and the vet said i could wait till he was a year but no longer than that as if it has not dropped it could turn to cancer.

A first cousin mating is very common in dogs and a lot are bred closer than that with no problems. Undescended testicles are very common in all breeds and while it is believed to have a genetic component, no one has discovered what it is yet. I believe there could be nutritional link to it as well but we just don't know yet. So long as he isn't intended for showing and breeding, the vet will find and remove the missing testicle when he is desexed. I am surprised that the breeder didn't notice the toe when she clipped his nails and trimmed his feet. There is however a rare short toe gene in some breeds but both toes on the outside of the foot usually stop growing, not just one. Puppies with this seem normal at 8 weeks and as the foot grows the outside ones don't. The shortness of the toes affected varies a lot from very short to hardly noticable, so some affected dogs are no doubt bred from because no one noticed. Again it is really only an issue for breeding but may also affect performance if you were planning on doing agility. In everyday life, dogs missing a toe get around just fine. I have known a couple of top winning show dogs that had to have a toe completely removed due to infections that got into the bone and they continued to win after the toes were removed. Please let the breeder know asap. It is highly likely she has never encountered the problem before, so will need to do a lot of asking around to find out if anyone else in the breed has ever come across it. If not it could be a one off mutation in your puppy. That is how genetic problems start in a breed. One dog has a mutation as the embryo develops and if it is bred from it passes the faulty gene on to the next generation. thank you that explains a lot i have sent an email to his breeder just to let her know what is happening i hope she reply's. i hope it doesn't affect him as i was training him for agility he is such a quick mover and really good on his feet i would be really disappointing if it affected him. im going to make an appointment with the vet to check it out as he is fine walking and is not in pain it is fine till i can get him in to town.

no it is not touching the ground he walks and runs just fine and is very quick on hi feet i have just had a look at his papers to see his blood lines and i have only just seen that his grand mother on his mothers side is his Fathers mothers :S i had not seen it before. he also has one testicle that has not dropped ( he is 7 months) so im now a bit concerned about his breeding

What Do You Do With Your Dogs When You Go Away?
Atanquin replied to aussielover's topic in General Dog Discussion
My mum comes to my house to look after zorro and my horses if that is not possible he goes to hers and some who shares the same paddock with me will look after my horses -
Horses are not a companion pet. You have to know what your doing to own one it's not an animal that you can just go buy easy, you need time and training I have horses and there are 2 horses I have at the moment that I will not let anyone near as they have come from the doggers and need work they kick an bite and have some issues which are all brought on by people after one session I got halters on them and leading ( I use natural horsemanship ) and no horses don't get away with kicking and biting if it has a problem like that it is sold to someone with more experience or re trained I have only ever seen 2 horses put down or being violent and that was in an animal curelty case which was sad. What people don't understand is horses are very sensitive and they are also very forgiving I hate it when people think thy should put horses down because of problems they never stop and see that thy are the cause of the problem and a horse is really just a reflection of yourself. Never had a horse I could not solve issues with only the 2 that had to be put down but that was a very tricky sad situation.

i have been using Advantix and heartgard. i don't use frontline as i have found it useless it worked for one month on my GSD then stopped working. i would not go with the annual injections as they have caused some serious health issues with dogs and liver damage. we use revolution for our cats and that keeps the ticks away as well only had one cat with a tick on it but revolution say it don't work on ticks maybe we are just lucky

Alright so I'm still choosing between a shelties and a cocker but I have to convince my other to consider a second dog as I would love for zorro to have a friend altho I'm not sure how well he would take me giving another dog attention but I thought if I got a girl it should be fine he has a little BC girls friend at obedience. Anyway back on track anyone else have to convince their OH to get another dog? Andy had alway said he would never have a dog inside but now he is the one letting zorro up in the cream leather sofa ( I never thought I would see the day that happened) but he is not keen on getting a second dog anyone been able to change there OH mind?

Help Me Put Someone Off Buying From A Pet Store
Atanquin replied to becandcharch's topic in General Dog Discussion
Glad to hear he is not getting a pet shop pup. And at least he is not getting a staffy to look tough if he was thinking of a cocker spaniel. Lol -
Cockers are great pets, they do have high energy tho so they need a good walk and play in the back yard. But apparat from that they will be happy to follow you all day and sleep on your lap or on your feet while your trying to cook, they are so addictive too!!! If your fine with the grooming then that will not be a problem. But they have to be apart of the family they can sleep outside at night but during the day they would have be doing what your doing if not they will be sad they love people and want to be with them. They are smart little cookies so they will need training for mental stimulation. I like shelties too and I was thinking of getting one as a friend for my cocker boy but I think I will stick with cockers they have won my heart

How Did Everyone Fall In Love Their Pooch?
Atanquin replied to huskies4life88's topic in General Dog Discussion
Well I was goig to get a little black cocker girl I had everything read for a girl and a name Ellie then I got a message from my breeder saying she had died over night she was the smallest and there was nothing she could do ( I had been waiting for 1 whole year) so I was so upset the breeder said that she still had a black boy available or a blue boy from her other litter. I had been waiting so long for a pup so we decided to go for a blue boy even tho I still wanted a girl and I had always picked my dogs from looks and I had not met this pup before so I was a little scared I would not like but once I got to the breeders and met him I feel in love!! He was so sweet and just wanted cuddles and as we drove home ( my mum was driving an he was on my lap) he had to sleep on me not by my feet or in the boot had to be on me and he is still like that he loves me to bits -
"backyard Breeders" Posing As Purebred Breeders
Atanquin replied to lushos's topic in General Dog Discussion
What breed are you looking at? You should hop on to the puppy page -
Ha ha only in gympie poor thing it's amazing she is alive and someone stopped not many people in this town would. I Think I know Donna

She is only 10 weeks old!! Of course it might take a while took zorro till he was 14 weeks and he knew sit shake drop speak. He knew to go outside but would not tell me and would just sit next to the door and so he would have a little accident. I don't think your are to hard on yourself but your are expecting to much from your pup. Just relax and we need pictures

Getting Puppy To Sleep Not On The Bed Help Please :)
Atanquin replied to kitkatswing's topic in Puppy Chat
Funny my boyfriend said he would never have a dog inside now zorro sleeps at his feet while he plays on his computer and when we wake up in the morning he is the first to let zorro inside while telling him he is such a good boy lol!!! I thought I would never see that day -
What has me stunned is that he had been charged 11 time for animal cruelty why so many he should have been locked up and not allowed animals and this would not have happened, there are not harsh enough laws regarding animal cruelty. It sounds like he was not well at all

Omg I should stop reading this stuff at work I'm in tears !! I hate that stuff I'm going to have that image in my head for days

Turn Up The Sound And See If Your Dogs Join In
Atanquin replied to Boronia's topic in General Dog Discussion
i have a dog running around the house barking and looking for the other dog -
I let zorro say hi as it is good for them to learn but just ask first if they wouldn't mind letting your dog say hallo to their dog but if you have a cute cocker trust me they will most likely stop and ask you just mix it up walk past some dogs and when he meets a dig just keel it calm if you can zorro met a new lab yesterday he jumped and ran before I knew what was happening he was at the end of the lead and his head and neck stopped and his back legs kept going he went up in the air and fell on his back it was so funny the way he did it but not good for his back. So just keep it calm
