Boxers generally love children. Mine is very good with my children (but is always supervised). He follows them everywhere, sticking his nose into everything they do (he has 'ammended' numerous paintings in his time). I do think that they can be a bit boisterous for very small children, and are probably better suited to families with older kids. Mine has been raised since puppyhood with my then 4 and 9 year old children and we've had no issues.

I will message Experiencedfun. She breeds Shelties.

i agree with the above. To me, it sounds as if this man is responsible and knows his dogs limitations/ thresholds. I too think it's possible that one of his dogs learned fearful/aggressive behaviours from the other. I'll confess my dog dislikes being patted by strangers when on-lead. He is not aggressive but will dodge or jump up on strangers who attempt to pat him. He has never been mistreated but perhaps an outsider may presume he is hand-shy because he has been? I am training him to walk well on lead and focus on, me and I've found that it's better if I keep a bit of space between us and strangers. So OP I would have politely declined your request for a pat too. :D

So Annoyed! They Changed The Ingredients
trinabean replied to best4koda's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Hi, Nadsi suggested the Pookinuk website as they list ingredients for each product. This kibble may be worth a try, if Koda is ok with fish: My link It does contain oatmeal and rice so if Koda can't tolerate those grains it's no good. Generally, it seems that wheat and corn are more problematic grains for some dogs though. This is the only kibble I've found so far that my dog can tolerate. It's not cheap, but I only feed a small amount of kibble, about 1/2 cup a day (his diet is mostly meat/ VAN and bones). Good luck, it can take a long time to figure out what works for your dog. :) -
RIP little Bailey. So sorry for Owey and family, a heartbreaking situation.

Hi Clemevi, Bruno was quite sick after his puppy C3 at 12 weeks. He was very lethargic and off his food for a couple of days. He had bloody diahorrea too, that may have been a separate issue though. I hope others can offer some good suggestions. :)

Inside Dogs And Geographical Location
trinabean replied to mixeduppup's topic in General Dog Discussion
I agree re the weather and that crating may be useful for some (eg. destructive) dogs. My dog is generally wherever I am. Having a short coat he also tends to choose wherever is most comfortable (under an air-con vent in summer/ practically on top of the heater in winter or outside sunbaking). He is not destructive so I can leave him inside, and haven't crated him since he was a puppy. Besides, the couch doesn't fit in a crate....:) -
Which Flea Treatment Do You Find Works Best?
trinabean replied to Blakbelgian's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I use Revolution. I buy it online for the best price. It (according to the packaging) kills adult fleas, flea eggs and flea larvae in the environment. It covers heartworm, ear mites and sarcoptic mange too. Edited to add: I've never found a flea on my dog, so either it's working...or we've just been lucky! :) -
Lol! From the owner of one sad-faced breed to another  I'm very tempted by Pugs you know RuralPug

Have to comment here though....you seriously think a Lab or GSD couldn't attack and kill a child? Attitudes like yours are the reason other breeds DO attack children, we don't need to worry 'cause it's a Lab, it wouldn't hurt a fly right? You shouldn't have to worry about a dog from across the road charging into your front yard, then into your house killing a toddler inside, do you know of any Labs or GSD's who have done that and does anyone own any dogs of those breeds they would suspect could do the same if they got out?. Should be very interesting when pictures of the dog involved in the Ayen Chol tragedy finally surface. So far extremely closely guarded. Multiple Freedom of Information requests (Police, Council, Department of Primary Industries) denied. TV Media prevented from filming dog on seizure. Word is from multiple and very reliable sources that so called pit bull may not have been, heaven forbid, a pit bull! Edited, because I've decided m-sass is not worthy of a response.
-
Yep, I already have them on ignore. M-Sass is a troll who has been trolling DOL for a long time under many different user names. I had come to that conclusion too Huski. Rozzie, so sorry about little Sarge and his traumatised family.

Yes. Boxers can look a bit serious/ poker-faced. The rest of their body language gives the game away though.....wag, wag, bounce, strut, zoomie, leap, play-bow 'having an awesome time!"

Wishing Rommi a successful surgery today, and a good recovery. :)

I'll see if I can find a link to an old thread I started on this same topic Best4Koda. I'm not sure why, but my dog gets quite sick for a couple of days after Drontal but was fine on a different wormer (Canex). Many wise Dolers suggested taking a fecal sample to the vet to see if worming was even necessary. Previous thread:My link

Same here Aussie  Well Stan does.Never seen a dog so excited about having a poo.I can hear him thundering up the back stairs and I know he's going to be manic for a couple of minutes.Although Stan does have a poo phobia so maybe he thinks its chasing him. SM he may have run a faster race with a poo behind him, rather than a lure in front of him?
-
Great photos! What beautiful athletes they are, especially in 'full flight'!
-
Same here. Perhaps it's to do with different owners routines? Having a deep-chested breed, I've always kept my dog quiet after meals. Usually he is exercised and then fed about an hour later, he is ready to sleep after eating. Mad, crazy zoomies (complete with 'fast' ears) happen at other times of the day though!
-
Pop it all into a box, leave it on his doorstep with a polite note. Something along the lines of 'Just returning your stuff.'
-
 Naughty grey, wonder if that was a spiky cactus? I found myself saying 'shhhhh! don't bark -take the food and run' to the CC

Love all the photos, especially Rolf's 'Skippy' moment. Danes are such stunning dogs.
-
Agreed Mrs RB. Nor will BSL prevent dog bites. You'd have to ban all dogs to do that. I hope the children involved in both stories recover well from their injuries.
-
Maybe a vet check to make sure there's nothing wrong? Roughly how old is Chloe?
-
What a wonderful outcome. I hope Gibbs continues his good recovery. I'm sure the surgeon would love a card. :)

Allergy Elimination Diet -is Barf Roo Acceptable?
trinabean replied to booge's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Some of us are unlucky enough to have dogs with health problems. This can even happen when you buy through a good, registered breeder. My dog is a good example. Doing elimination diets and sourcing novel proteins is not easy. It can be financially and emotionally exhausting trying to find out what helps your sick dog. And it seems when you are struggling with doing the best by your dog, as though everyone else takes for granted their 'easy' dogs. Who can eat anything and thrive, and hardly ever need to go to the vet. I hope the OP and MasonGibbs find some answers. :)
