  1. Bloody hell! I'd love to have that much spare cash to splash on something like that!
  2. When I had Roman desexed I was told not to get him wet for the entire 10 days the stiches were in. I think you can get a spray on deodorant type thing for dogs that helps with the smell of them. But I've never used one so I can't vouch for it
  3. I'm really sorry to hear you're having a rough time :D Life isn't far sometimes. Your pup sounds like the most beautiful little soul. My Shepherd puppy is like that. He picks up on the slightest of my emotions and reacts accordingly. He's always the first to give me a big smooch to wipe away my tears. He's amazing like that. He knows me better then anyone on earth I think.
  4. I'm sorry that you're strugling to connect :D It must be hard for you. I guess I've been really lucky with both my boys. I connected with both of them on the days that I picked them (both were 5 weeks old). I think Bear is my little soul mate. Since the day I brought him home he's been my little shadow. It has been just him & me for a long time. We have a really awesome bond. And then Roman came along and he's my big BFF & guardian He reads me better then I read myself. I hope you can establish that connection you're seeking. I'm sure someone's suggested this, but try giving him a big hug. I've found that being physically close to mine is the time I feel most connected to them. And who doesn't like a big puppy hug? Good luck with it :p
  5. I have found this is another plus side to the sandpits too. He tends to keep his digging to where he knows he's allowed.
  6. That sounds great! Hopefully we get some sunshine in the next 6 months to be able to go! :p
  7. When I had one for my Shih-Tzu a few years back is was a bit of a combination. He explained some things, got me to do it. If I wasn't doing it 'right' he'd then show me. He turned out to be useless though, but that's beside the point! I think sometimes being shown can be easier. Even if they show you using their own dog. Some things can't be explained with words, if that makes sense? But I always think that an explanation as to why you're doing a certain thing is always good. It helps you understand everything a bit better & grasp it more. Good luck with it!
  8. I have had shell pools for Roman since he was little. 2 with sand in them and 1 with water (someone already mentioned this I believe). I have now made an actual sand pit for him in the yard which is quite big. I hide things in the sand for him to find. He loves to dig & find them all. And he always thinks there's more so he'll keep digging for ages. It keeps him amused & it burns heaps of energy. I also tied a toy to the end of a rope & lead it around for him to chase & sometimes catch it as a reward. I'll keep thinking...
  9. Wow, what an awesome dog. They always know the difference between a harmless situation and one that requires some spunk on their behalf. Alot of people don't give them enough credit. I bet you feel alot safer though knowing he's got your back. I walk my GSD just before sunrise every day & even though it's dark, I feel safe with my big boy by my side Stay safe!
  10. I'm from Newcastle and I was wondering the same thing as you. I regularly take my GSD Roman to Horseshoe but would also love to have a group for both human & dog socialisation.
