Need Help Regarding Ticks Please
kobblyness replied to rosegold's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Yes. It's 10ml of Permoxin added to 400ml of Methylated spirits for rapid drying. I've not used Methylated spirits. I make the mix with water as I use it on our horses and cows and it would cost me a fortune in Metho -
Need Help Regarding Ticks Please
kobblyness replied to rosegold's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I now use Advantix monthly and a product called Permoxin weekly. The permoxin is sold as a concentrate and lasts quite a long time. -
Caron, I took my pup to a puppy preschool where the trainers were trained under Craig A Murray. I've never met the man and can't comment on his skills directly only those who were trained by him. My dog was scruffed at his first puppy preschool... scruffed as in lifted off the ground by the skin on the back of his neck unexpectanly which gave him a huge fright and he started screaming. He was doing no wrong other than playing with another dog. Another dog who initated play and rolled over in a submissive position. He was and is a confident dog (not aggresive). No growling or hackles up. The trainer lifted him off his feet by the scruff of his neck, turned him around to face the trainer she blew into his face. She did eventually put him on the ground in a submissive position with his belly facing upwards where he urinated upon himself. This was a 9 week old confident pup. I left there thinking that it's a new kind of training, something I was told to implement with my dog and if I didn't I could have a dangerous dog on my hands. There was no way I could do this kind of training with my pup. Can I stress that Craig A Murray did not personally do this to my dog. I was hugely shaken by this experience so I had my puppy assessed by another trainer and was told he is a confident puppy and I will have a good time training him with positive reinforcement. He was right. We've completed a puppy preschool where human and dog socilisation is the biggest part. As well as food being the positive reinforcement. We are currently undertaking class one. I see you are at the Gold Coast but you could contact the person at the Pine Rivers Dog Obedience Club they maybe able to put you in touch with someone in your area. http://pineriversdoc.server101.com/

Oceanaussi congratulations on the birth of you dog. Can I ask where you will be taking him to preschool? -
Newpup how is your puppy going? Hoping it's settled for you both. I can relate to the tough love, but I am truly hopeless at it.

For the short term can she travel in the cab with you? Put some blankets down if you are worried she might pee on the seats. Can you borrow another car, perhaps even if it is to just pick her up in, so that she might feel a little safer? My dog gets terrible car sickness, and it is just that car sickness.

So sorry to hear this Springy . Run free Max.

Shampoo For Getting Out Grease And Oil
kobblyness replied to 4 Paws's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I used to use morning fresh dishwashing liquid on our horses. It worked a treat in getting the white socks back to white. -
I feed mine 50/50 7am and around 6.30pm. I leave some kibble in their bowls during the day.

Thanks HR.

One of my dogs suffers from car sickness and unfortunately has not grown out of it, she will be 2 in May. Of the many times I tried the Blackmores travel calm ginger tablets it did work once. I am thinking it was a fluke though but it may work for your dog. As others have said try and make the car a pleasant experience for your dog. I'll try that one Isaviz

Advertised As Positive Training
kobblyness replied to cactus's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
That is so sad I can only imagine how your rellie is feeling about it all . Jeeze I imagine it can't be too hard to scare a dog into submission not sure if that is the technique used it but to deny praise I find extremely hard on the dog (and me). It may work for some dogs??? Dog obedience to me is about teaching me to teach my dog positively. -
My suggestion would be to take her out to an area where she can toilet before you leave her where she can access your computer. Living in a site shed is no excuse. I have lived in a farm shed for the last 6 years, my pup had her fair share of accidents which have all been overcome through being attentive. I used a dilute disinfectant to clean the accidents.

I Still Can't Decide When.......
kobblyness replied to Joey Rocks My World's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
MSJ have read your posts and am thinking of you. ((((((((hugs))))))))) My 14yr old girl went off her food. She had arthritis but was still living a good life. She decided to slow and then stop eating and no amount of her favourite bbq chicken or ham would tempt. So for me that was the time. Bloody hardest thing I have ever had to do but the kindest in the long run. I was asked to weigh her at the vets, I told the girl that I didn't think it was necessary. I weighed her anway and she had lost 7kgs in as many months and I hadn't noticed she was over weight. As hard as it is I believe that you will know when the time is right for your girl. It is hard for those who have loved. I had my girl cremated and I now have her here with me in a beautiful timber box. -
I am going to try the whole egg approach. It will be interesting to watch no doubt. Thanks DOLers after reading your post I now know shells are ok.... I have to laugh at myself when feeding eggs to my dogs... The procedure.... Gently cracking into bowl and checking that no shell is added and if so picking it out of dog bowl. LOL (Really laughing now as I do feed marrow and brisket bones but somehow I think a bit of eggshell is going to hurt them ) That sounds right Blacklab from what I can find as long as it is not feed in excess. My google search

My two had one each I didn't notice the green poos though but...... Green poo and a grass camouflage can make walking and mowing dangerous.

Hello What do you use to walk your dog/s. I use Halti's to start with and swap to flat collars half the way.
