  1. Awesome MrsD and Jarrah, I love seeing dogs have focus on their handlers.
  2. I bought my black dog pouch from ~Erin~ two small puppies store about a year ago. It's still going strong... it does have one small chew hole in the corner thanks to a puppy I use the glad sandwich bags as a liner and what is not used in training then gets thrown in the fridge for the next day.
  3. LOL which end?? The mouth end
  4. Yes, and my dog has not grown out of it. Unfortunately she suffers from both ends. My advice is do not feed before travel. I have used Blackmores Travel Calm tablets with some success given half a hour before travel. The best thing so far has been half a dozen ginger nut biscuits, about half an hour before travel. It does stop one end.
  5. Sadly there are still many, many dog owners out there that still do the same thing. Makes you wanna take the paper and wack them over the head with it, then push their nose in the dirt.. Just like little humans they respond really well to praise - praise good behaviour, ignore bad behaviour and remove whatever they are not supposed to have. Yes I would like to do the same to those owners! I'm one to train using positive methods. I have at times had to go and stand in the bathroom and count to 1000000000000 then come out and clean up the mess.

    Uh Ohhhh!

My old girl did the same. She was very lucky to still be with us. Pailin the electrician should be able to wire a new lead for you.
  7. Run free Sophie She fought a brave battle. Take care CavNrott :D
  8. I wouldn't cut them too small though. Large enough so have to still chew it and not just suck them down.
  9. My dogs get them once a week. KitKat suggestion is good, smaller pieces.
  10. I recall reading a thread recently in general which had something to do with paw discolouration the OP has some concerns. The OP didn't want to name the breed as it would identify the breeder and everyone seemed fine with that response.
  11. What's with all the what breed is it questions? Have fun and enjoy your dog Deb08 I'd recommend starting recall training with lots of positve rewards. I use food as the reward with my dogs, although the three of them have been known on occasion to ignore me completely little buggers.
  12. I noticed the same thing with the Scott's dog rolls. They seem to have changed and don't smell very nice. I have stopped feeding it since the change.
  13. I use VIP and Scottys dog roll, in combination with chicken necks and brisket bones and supercoat dry food.
  14. Yes and no. While no I "personally" don't expect any trainer to step in over someone elses training or work. If there were numerous complaints about a trainer then in the interest of dogs yes. My pup and I had a bad experience and at vet run puppy preschool, very aggressive training methods. Stupid me I thought this was some kind of new training method. It felt very wrong and upset me greatly and there was no way I could train given those methods. The following day I was late to work as I wanted to speak with the owner of the Veterinary practice and state my concerns about the method of training. I didn't go back. I would not recommend the training to anyone. However I will not publicly name and shame either. I knew of a good club already, I wish I had taken him there to start with. Anyway no permanent harm was done, thankfully.
  15. I hold the lead in the right hand, stand signal left hand, stay left hand and down right hand. I do find that the lead sometimes gets under one of his legs in the down if I'm not careful.
  16. Great thread. If I'm having a sleep in I quite often get cuz dropped on my head
  17. Well done to you both. It's a great video. He's so focused, a very clever boy
  18. Your supposed to put it in their mouth, not stuff it up their nose! I also think it depends on what wine you are using to compliment the cheese. Sorry, couldn't resist  ---------------- I read this thread earlier and thought it was an interesting question. Good responses. I use cheese as rewards, but then I don't plan on doing any tracking.
  19. It's an intersting thread. I'm training hand signals. Our main verbal command is come. My dog watches for the drop hand signal and puts so much enthusiasm into it cracks me up. His legs fly up into the air and he nearly body slams the ground, it wouldn't matter what I said
  20. :D It sort of makes sense. I'll try it with the next roll of toilet paper that is stolen.
  21. I think you guys have covered it all for me. I'll watch for this thread for dates.
  22. Sorry I must have missed that you live on the Southside in your first post I hope you find something suitable. ETA Marchant park is at Chermside which is less than 10km from the city of Brisbane.
  23. I've used Pine Rivers Dog Obedience club Pine Rivers Dog Obedience Club Training is based on positive reinforcement. Their puppy preschool is excellent. I have heard these clubs are good. PADS uses clicker training Pine Agility Dog Sports club Metropolitan Dog Obedience
  24. Here's the link to the Pine Rivers dog club. It's a good club and the trainers are very helpful. http://www.pineriversdoc.org.au/default.html
