Flood Relief Fund Appeals/donations
kobblyness replied to poodlefan's topic in General Dog Discussion
That is an extremely generous offer. I'll be seeing you on Tuesday -
Have no doubt, the owner is probably sick with what has happened to her dog. It took less than a minute for the Judge to do that and the Judge is someone people should be able to trust with their dogs ETA I should clarify, A Judge is in a position of trust.

Disgusting. Go a bit easy on the owner, she probably froze in horror. I had a so called "dog trainer" you know the people you think you can trust scruff my 12 week old puppy at a vet run puppy preschool. She picked him up off the floor by the scruff of his neck and when he didn't go all floppy and submissive she shook him, blew in his face and was surprised when he nipped at her chin, she then flipped him on his back where he wee'd upon himself. It happened so fast and I was dumbfounded, I felt like absolute shit for days after and still get upset when I think about it. Yes I too thought my first reaction would be to go in and grab the dog, but the shock at seeing something like that unfold and how quickly to happens is a different thing. Never again will anyone handle one of my dogs. I was at the vets first thing the next morning and complained about the training methods and was phoned by the owner of the puppy preschool business to bring my dog to her so she could meet him, a big fat NO on my part. I took him to the school I should have taken him to in the first place and thankfully there was no lasting damage done to him. Can't say the same for myself though

Man Offers $20,000 Reward For Return Of His Dog
kobblyness replied to kobblyness's topic in In The News
I'm so glad he got her back and got to keep his money. I just saw him on the news and I'm all teary again. Hopeless I am. -
I just saw this on 7 news. It made me cry, the poor man is really upset. http://au.news.yahoo.com/queensland/a/-/ne...h-for-lost-dog/ A Gold Coast man offering a $20,000 cash reward for his lost dog has sold his house to fund the search. Sean Robey is offering $20,000 to anyone who can find his pet Staffy, Charlie, who he's had since she was five weeks old. Mr Robey paid $800 for her nine years ago, but says she's worth much more to him now. "I've been through some rough times and she's really helped me though them," he said. "She's everything I've got." The Staffy cross bull terrier went missing from the backyard of his Carrara home 12 days ago. Before then she'd never slept a night outdoors. "I'm worried sick. Every night I can't sleep you know, basically a 38-year-old man in tears," Mr Robey told Seven News. Sean has been handing out flyers and doing letter box drops. He even sold his home to fund the search, and is offering $20,000 in wads of cash to prove the reward is real. "It's a lot of money and I've had to borrow it to get it, but for me it's nothing," he said. Sean told Seven News he'll hand over the money no questions asked. He said he doesn't need to know where Charlie's been, he just wants her back. Charlie is a pure white Staffy cross bull terrier, with a black tip on her left ear. Mr Robey has set up a Facebook page to help in the search for Charlie. Facebook.com: Charlie-Girl Robey

He's gorgeous. Looking forward to seeing lots more pictures. -
I recommend the Strathpine/Pine Rivers club

Definitely get rid of all the dead snails and all of the bait. I'm not sure of an ant killer that is safe to use around dogs. Enjoy your puppy!

Ccd 3 Passes - Now What Do I Do
kobblyness replied to Tali's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Congratulations! -
I haven't used the frontline spray. If you are looking for a cheaper product there is Permoxin. It's in a concentrate form so it lasts quite a while. I used to use it on our horses until I found a better product for them, and have used it on the dogs. The only down side I suppose is that you have to spray or rinse the dogs weekly.

The knobs on cupboard doors seem to do a good job

My dogs eat it and so did my old girl, who lived to be a ripe old age of 14. I also feed Brisket bones, chicken necks and wings. As for it being any good. I have no idea, only that my dogs have very shiny coats and I don't wash them (their bath is a swim in the dam)

Thinking of you Griff.

I agree with waiting until they are mentally mature. I rushed this with my youngest. We reached level 3 obedience at 9months, that was the marker I had set for us to start basic agility(no jumps). ETA we started at close to 11 mths I see ability in my dog. What I didn't factor in was the occasional in the face rush at my dog who was at a young age which has created some fear (for both of us, more me which is worse ) For me I now know that's where mental maturity comes into play. He loves tunnels, jumps, weaves and beams. But until I can handle the odd dog in his face for now for we will keep up with the class obedience and homemade agilty and when we are both ready we will start back.

Puppy Preschool/training Classes
kobblyness replied to ~SL~'s topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
I recommend Pine Rivers dog obedience club. Their puppy preschool is good and certainly not a free for all. The puppies do get socialisation time together in a secure area. The trainers match the sizes of dogs and temperaments, ie no littlies in a free for all with the big puppies I could ramble on but I wont Anyone that is interested in attending and not sure about the club, would be welcomed to sit in on a class (without puppy) and see how it works. All the dates are on their website. http://www.pineriversdoc.org.au/puppy.html -
