  1. so I've spoken to the vet. My regular vet is closed today but opens again tomorrow, so it was a phone call to another vet who is treating emergencies over the hols. They're happy for me to keep an eye on him. as long as he's still keeping down water (which thankfully he is) try him with something bland tonight and see my regular vet first thing in the morning. He seems okay - no further vomitting, doesn't appear distressed, and is just resting. I didn't think to ask what constitutes a "bland" diet for a dog - I was thinking probably a small amount of plain cooked chicken? Would that be okay?
  2. Oh. Just to add I know the first question will be what I fed him on chrissy...I was working (the joys of nursing....) So his diet was no different then to what he normally eats
  3. Just looking for a little advice. My 6 month old pup is a bit off colour. He was completely fine yesterday morning. Gave him breaky as normal then I went to work. Still fine yesterday evening when I gave him dinner. Later that evening he was pretty quiet and then at about 10pm vomitted back up dinner. Went to bed fine and seemed bright enough this morning so I assumed he must have eaten something dodgy while I was out. He has now vomitted back up breaky, is pretty quiet again and when I cleaned up the yard this morning noticed some mucous in his stools. I'm not sure whether I should be taking him to the vet or just watch him and see how he goes....what do you think? Thanks.
  4. When it's cool, on his bed in my bedroom. If it's a bit warm he takes himself off to his crate in the laundry which must be a bit cooler....
  5. My mini schnauzer pup is almost 7 months old and is pretty big on jumping...on people, chairs, whatever. He was a bit mouthy for a few months (as all pups are) but we've got that pretty well sorted. The Jumping is more of a challenge. He's okay most of the time but when he gets excited - whenever anyone arrives to my house, be it me or visitors. Or we meet people out and about, he still has very little self control. I've got to be super careful around little kids with him...he's plenty big enough to knock them over just with excitment and he's just over the 7kg mark...anything younger than primary school age, I'm sure he could knock over. He's lovely with them once he's calmed down though. I'd be seconding looking for an adult dog. A mini schnauzer would probably suit, chat to some breeders locally, but a pup may prove to be a bit mch with little kids at home.
  6. Hilarious. I've added my housemate, myself, puppy and our loyal garden gnome "norbert" Not sure how impressed my housemate is, but I'm laughing http://sendables.jibjab.com/view/7AeBTlZYfMqCpGYL
  7. Aww...very cute. Love the colouring of "santa's" coat, just gorgous with the pale tan through the face
  8. Haha. This is me too....probably not ideal but I'm as happy to see my guy as he is me. Plus he settles after a minute or so - I'm happy for him to run around like an idiot for a minute or two after a boring day without me!
  9. This is a fantastic idea! Wish I lived closer....
  10. OMG. I want one! Looking at this thread apparently so does everyone else They are just so gorgeous!
  11. Bull terriers are just the biggest sweethearts! I'm not sure I'd be the perfect owner for one of them right now, so I just have to make do with cuddles from the few I know whenever I get the chance!

    Puppy Runs Off

As cute as I'm sure she'd be I'd be annoyed if I had my pup or worse, my parents dog aggressive dog out and about and had another pup run up to say hello. It'd end fine with my pup, but if I had my parents dog out, it may not end well for either of them. There's a reason I don't let him off lead and dogs that are offlead which approach him really annoy me if their owners can't call them back - they tend to be upset with me then as my dog appear quite aggressive. He's a lovely dog with people and other dogs he's met in a controlled environment, but not dogs that appear out of no-where just "to say hi". She won't grown out of it, just get bigger and faster, so until you are able to get a reliable recall, I'd keep your pup on a lead - you just never know how another dog is going to respond and it'd be awful if anything happened to your pup.
  13. I quite like cats, but allergies make them impossible for me to live with. Happy to hang out with someone else's for a short while, they are usually quite charming.
  14. Can you screen off so she can't see the people walking out the front. My parents had a bit of a barker, and this worked really well for him - only barks when he hears people coming up the driveway and has made sunday mornings so much more pleasant. Dad says he didn't realise quite how many people went for a walk sunday mornings to get the paper till Alfie started counting them for him
  15. I think I'm a bit cheeky joining this thread, but my big plan for Paddington and I in 2012 is to work our way through the low level beginner classes and maybe go to our first trial if all goes well! Also plan to start the basics in agility...puppies are such good fun!
  16. Thanks for this one! I already cut my little fellow's nails, but this is a huge help!
  17. I have a mini schnauzer pup - 6 months old at the moment and we live in glenmore park. He's very people and dog friendly and I'd be happy to meet up sometime in penrith/ blacktown.
  18. Baby Earl is sooo cute - I want one! But they grow up to big drooly monster Earls  Still pretty cute. The drool is spectacular though. I have a horse that would give him a run for his money in that department if there's raisin toast on offer! I'll have to see if I can find a pic....
