Uk Charity Limits Care To 1 Pedigree Pet Per Family
Fatsofatsoman replied to shortstep's topic in General Dog Discussion
That's what I got from it - stop the people buying multiple dogs because they know they can rely on handouts. -
I Think I Should Stop Going Into Pet Shops :-/
Fatsofatsoman replied to Aztec Gold's topic in General Dog Discussion
I know of only two pet stores near me that sell animals - and they are the shopping mall shops. all the other ones I frequent don't sell animals. -
and also just looking at my joined date (march-11) I don't reckon that's right - I'm sure I've been here longer than 3 mths. Boonie is just over a year old??
-
I was a lurker way before I joined - I used DOL to read up on all the do's and don'ts of buying a pup - didn't join until I actually had a pup as that's when I felt like I had bragging rights and ability to post. My pup came from a breeder advertising on here.

a dog that is in development is the aussie bulldog, australia's answer to the british bulldog. i think they are 10 years into getting them recognised by the ANKC. they are completely opposite to the BB, one of my friends has 2 and they are beautiful dogs. i am hoping they get recognised as a breed as there is 2 clubs working towards this now. yep I know someone who owns one - I'm sure they are changing the name to Austrlasian Bosdog. Or something like that.

approx 20 mins walk to dog park, he then plays in the park for about 30 mins, then walk back home for 20mins. This is on top of a 45min to 60min jog/run in the morning. sometimes the order of these are changed so park in the am and run in the pm. or sometimes it's a run in am and pm or sometimes it's walk, park, walk in am and pm. Either way we make sure he gets both lots of exercise a day. The morning being especially important due to us leaving him at home whilst we both work. Weekends are swimming days. Morning exercise is done at 5 to 5:30am - with breakfast served around 7:30. evening exercise is as soon as I get home from work - around 5:30 - dinner then served after at least 30mins has passed after exercise. Then Boonie comes for a snuggle on the couch.

I was down the dog park and a massive cattle dog came in - would have been over 35kgs. I was blown away by his size - I went "Jeez his a big boy isn't he" owner " yeah he was a fat pup and just hasn't changed" I was thinking - well maybe you should do something about it then you idiot. I said - oh yeah, then moved on.
-
Went to the Sunnybank one and was a little bit put off - I think it didn't help that the actual park it was held in was really small. Is the Gap park bigger?
-
I saw this advert this morning - they are billed as the wicked twins.
-
Boonie is 32kgs - we're happy with that.

Most Labs could eat all day - coupled with a face just made for begging and a lot of stupid owners over feed them. I also tend to think that a lot of 'show' labs are overweight and they are the standard bearers.

The ex-owners of this Lab should be shot. http://www.heraldsun.com.au/news/is-sampson-the-labrador-australias-most-obese-pet/story-e6frf7jo-1226079537660

Which Breed Makes The Cutest Puppies?
Fatsofatsoman replied to Henrietta's topic in General Dog Discussion
This is the moment we knew Boonie was coming home with us -
I'd like to ask if you're open to offers for some more work? My wife's birthday is mid Sep and she absolutely adores one photo of our boy - I'd love to get a portrait of it done. Could you please PM me if you're interested.

If we sticking to the salad theme Waldorf

you could call her Jules. not quite Julius - but close enough.

So the lead up to State of Origin and my Boonie's belly was playing up - bit of farting here and there, he's a lab what do you expect. So we sit down and watch the might maroons have a minor blip against the bloody blues. I happen to have a gloating nsw supporting mate staying over the night. What happened next is both good and bad. Bad because poor Boonie got the runs from somewhere? not sure where, we were pretty upset the poor bugger was off his food. All good now though Good part - during the middle of the night Boonie went into said NSW supporters rooms and pooped everywhere. Only the first time since toilet training he's gone inside - I couldn't be prouder of his timing and location. Well worth the clean up to see my mates face the next morning. Cheers Boonie - QLDer through and through.

Founding Fathers (labrador): An Interesting History:
Fatsofatsoman replied to sandgrubber's topic in General Dog Discussion
random question - what's the best way to trace back the generations of a lab? I wouldn't mind seeing the history of my boy - obviously have about 3 or 4 back that are supplied by the breeder. Is there a website that documents all in a database? -
what breed? for no other reason than I'm a curious mind and not knowing is driving me bananas.

I must say the only GSD behaviour I notice in Dog Parks when it escalates is for them to actually place themselves in between the fighting dogs and to take one aside. I've only ever seen them diffuse fights. That being said that's only my experience with them.
-
Bruno was an English Heavyweight boxer - continue on that theme and name him Lennox.
-
I know you said there was no trouble between them - but the stance of that Staffy is exactly when I go and grab Boonie away - maybe I'm overracting but I reckon that Staffy is on high alert. could just be a trick of the photo in this pic. Would I be reading the language of dogs wrong by acting this way?
-
I understand the concept - the part that doesn't sit well with me is that we as humans are doing the natural selection thing, we decide what is the best conformation not nature - who's to say we haven't ballsed up and the standard really isn't the best the dog could be. I hear all the time of standard changes and of breeds no longer representing what they should. anything a human has a hand in producing is just as likely to backfire if you ask me. My honest opinion is that some of the labs i've seen on the net that are meant to be show winners seem rather heavy boned/large set - I'm not sure how this would help a retrieving dog who needs to be fairly active. Again I'm a noob at it so could be completely wrong. Btw I have no interest in becoming a breeder I just find it a little sad we as humans decide which dogs are deemed 'worthy' of reproducing (exceptions for deformities and illnesses and the like - common sense).

This is Boonie to a tee.
