Lilly is 11 months, and first went lame at 5 months old. She was xrayed and said to have perfect joint and that it was a soft tissue injury, we where recommended chiro and physio treatment. After another 4 months of treatment( it was thought she had bicept tendonitis), and no ongoing soundness i had a chat with the vet when she was desexed.....and then found out the xrayed the wrong leg.....
So once we rexrayed, it was thought she had ocd and was sent t a specialist. They suggested fcp, and wanted to do surgery asap. I knew it was something that needed surgery, and the 2 specialists that we saw where great so went on their advice.....
She had a decent size fragment taken out and has a small amount of arthritic changes, but they are very positive she will lead a much better life and will be able to commence normal walks very soon......I have been told to do physio 2x a day, and keep her quiet but no restrict her movement too much( she is insanely quiet for a lab, she is to die for). So she is wondering about the house and goes out to toilet on lead. over the weekend I am to start actual walks, slowly but increase it to about 5-10 mins and see how she goes. She will be assesed on monday and start a course of pentasan........At about 2 wks I am told i should try longer walks possibly some swimming and sand walking. But take it as it comes. And I may need to get the physio to see her.
I am pretty happy with how she is going. She has a big limp, but that is to be expected....the wounds look great, she just has some clipper rash and irritated skin, so is currently wearing a tshirt to stop her scratching.....
