  1. Oh! That's a real bugger! Yes, we've been thinking of attending the Adelaide one. It's every night for the whole week of the 5th Dec plus the Saturday day as well. Seems very reasonable for the $350 they're asking for the full 6 days. Our problem is that we don't know if we can do the full week, but I think they have daily options as well.
  2. Hi! Adelaide Sporting Dog Club is hosting a seminar by Klaus Malion - an international dog handler over the 5th to the 10th of Dec. Has anyone been to one of his seminars before? Apparently he's excellent Just wanting to know if anyone knows anything more about him? This is the link here: http://www.adelaidesportdogclub.com/index.php/education-center/seminars
  3. Ha!! Yup that's what we get told!! It's fiercer than some Mali's though! Funny little thing! Very well trained!!
  4. Working dogs mainly: GSDs, Malinous, Doberman, Rotweillers plus the odd border collie and one unusual chihuahua! It's Schutzhund based, so tracking and obedience and "protection" in a purely sporting manner. So not actual attack training.
  5. Pleading for some help for a catchy name for a sporting dog club bi-monthly members and friends publication! All suggestions are very welcome as I'm all dried up on ideas! Thanks in advance!!
  6. Oh! Thanks guys! this is an awesome start! $4800 is probably a bit more than we wanted to spend - although it is exactly what we are looking for!! Thanks Sir WJ Hmmm, so the leaking is a common thing?? That could be a problem...do dogs catch colds?!? So, i notice that other trailers also usually have the whirly things - so do all trailers with whirly things leak...or just the Toledo's...
  7. Thanks Pav Lova! Do you know those which parts of the trailer wear down the most? (Other than the tyres of course! ) I did put up an ad in the wanted section of the classifieds but havent had any response yet. There are a few listed in classifieds i know, but not in the large size - i was speaking to another GSD owner who said the medium is just a bit squishy for them, and those that are there are over our budget.
  8. Hi! Just wondering if anyone had any issues with their Toledo dog trailers? We are wanting to get one second hand, a large 4 berth to transport 4 GSDs around and so far we've only heard good things about them. Are there any questions we should be asking about them? Does anyone have one for sale!? Cheers!!
  9. Hi! Thanks very much for all your replies! I'll definately give all these options a go!! Cheers!!
  10. Yes, yes!! I think I can say with much confidence that you are INDEED worthy of legendary status!! Much kisses to you and my cuz who answered earlier!
  11. You'd be such a legend if you could! I'd really really appreciate it!
  12. Hi! We are thinking of trying to show our GSD pups but have no experience in the matter. Does anyone know how we might go about finding someone that might be able to handle them for us in the ring? Cheers!
  13. Awww thanks! Yup it is I! Yeah, looks good! I might give them a call! Hopefully it's easy to put up, if they do transport to other states... We're definitely not the most handy of people :p
  14. Hi! Does anyone know of a good kennel company that makes and/or installs kennels in SA? I need some large kennels put up for my dogs when we go out. It can also be a place interstate but needs to be comfortable at shipping the parts down to SA for us to install at a reasonable price. I've done some searches on Google but didn't find anything locally! Cheers in advance!
  15. Hi! So far his itching has been relieved quite a lot thanks to everyones posts on this forum! I tried everything that I said that I would and he only scratches intermittently now - nowhere near as much as before. It would appear that the 2 x fish oil capsules mixed in with his food per day and 20mg phenergan tablets morning and night are what are helping him the most. I am still taking him to see another vet for a second opinion this Saturday on his itch and so hopefully he will be able to narrow it down more for me! How much does your puppy weigh? The dose rate is 1mg/kg - I wouldn't have thought a 12-13wk GSD would weight 20kg?? Sorry! That was meant to read as total 20mg... 10mg in the morning and 10mg at night! My vet said to keep it up for 2 weeks then to go back for a review. If it is still not managed then he will refer on to a specialist who can do further testing on specific allergens etc. Hope that that clarifies!

  17. Thanks again to everyone who has replied so far! I have the vets appointment tomorrow and will get him to check over the pup and ask about the antihistamines. I have started my pup on fish oil as well due to the many suggestions. Thanks to Miss Danni who spoke about the changing of coats as i think you're pretty spot on with that...we've noticed a sleeker coat coming through the puppy fluff (Oh how i'll miss the puppy fluff!). I'll also give the manuka honey and aloe vera a whirl to see how he responds to that! We really appreciate everyone's responses! Thank You!
  18. Thanks for your suggestion with the antihistamine as it seems to be something that alot of people have suggested I try. With regards to the Phenergan, is it 1 x 10mg tablet twice a day or less than that? As i understand it there is a 10mg and 25mg tablet available and I am a little confused with the dosage - is there a formula? e.g mg/kg body weight? Too much can cause drowsiness right?
  19. Thank you so very much to everyone that has replied so far, I at least have a few more options to try and will definitely make a trip to Chiropet to seek out Matthew Conlon's opinion. I'll let you all know how it goes! I'm hoping that as we ease into the cooler months that there might be a change in his condition as well due to environmental factors...I'll cross all my fingers and toes! Heres hoping!
  20. All over unfortunately, when he's eating or sleeping he forgets about it, but he will stop whilst play to itch - mainly his sides and groin area, but sometimes his rear and front legs as well...sometimes his collar/chin area but not as much.
  21. We are feeding the pup Royal Canin as per the breeders feeding plan and we did ask what they recommended and that was to use Fidos Fre-itch rinse concentrate. I've ordered this through the internet and am waiting for it to arrive, but this also seems to be a pest directed thing which the vet has ruled out....unless it has some other properties? As to plants, we did obtain a short list off the Internet and I don't think we have anything bad there. It was by no means extensive though and if someone has a good reference I'd be glad to have a read?
  22. Hi! I have a 11 week old GSD male pup that we've had since 8 weeks who always seems to scratch! Our vet recomended we use advocate and wash with aloveen - he also did a full search for fleas and found none with no traces of flea dirt. Any ideas on where to go from here? Can anyone also please recommend a good dog chiro in SA? Thanks very muchly in advance! I'm at a loss!
