  1. What beautiful photos of your boy Kingbob how wonderful you found each other RIP handsome Fred
  2. I'm sorry for your loss Kingbob Fred sure was a handsome boy. I have had foster greyhounds and they have never really cared, but as rescues they are just glad for a soft bed. I buy all my blankets and sheets from he op-shops so maybe you can do that rather than try to get the others clean. A rescue will just be glad to have a loving home with you :) Your not being disloyal to Fred...he'll be in your heart forever.
  3. Ok thanks :) haha I would love a pic too! She is just too shy right now and don't want to frighten her more with the camera. Sure that will all change. Poor little chook I'm sure it will change, you've come to the right place.
  4. I'm not sure as I own the giant version...greyhounds :) Hopefully dogmad will pop in later meanwhile would love a pic of your little girl :)
  5. http://www.dolforums.com.au/topic/106172-italian-greyhounds/page__st__2805 Pop into the Iggy thread in the breed subforums. Dogmad and Indigirl run Iggy Rescue and will definately be able to help you I'm sure.
  6. Why is it people start threads and then when given solid advice they get defensive and then pull out the old " I was warned about this forum " Membership continues to climb rapidly so it can't be too bad. My greyhounds are fed seperately as Stan is not a caring, sharing kind of guy when it comes to food. What's his is his and what's Maddies is also his and if that baby gate wasn't there not only would she not get anything to eat but if she went sniffing around his he would not be a happy camper. I manage the situation by separating them, it's the only way for us and it's pretty simple.
  7. Does Stan get to take his oven with him? he's over the oven now he has discovered that big white cold cupboard full of food...if only he could work out those damn fridge locks.
  8. Stan and Maddie will go down to Greyhound Haven Tasmania to be rehomed by Hardys Angel as I know she will find the best of homes for them. I don't want them to ever be seperated as Maddie just adores Stan and I trust HA 100%. All costs will be covered by me including fridge locks. I may have forgotten to tell HA about my plans
  9. No doubt about it some lines and some breeds have some big issues to deal with but this is about selection not in breeding. It wont be magically fixed for consecutive generations if we just start outcrossing - in fact in may give us more grief than we have now Absolutely Steve, and I wasn't suggesting outcrossing. I still prefer the predictability of living with purebred dogs. I more meant that my own dog is, sadly, not a great example to use in arguments about the health of pedigree vs the 'hybrid vigour' of crossbreds. I wish it was different. Trina...he's a lucky boy that he's a bean.
  10. It's funny you say that DD about feeling sick. Stan was my first foster greyhound and within the first week I had a family coming up from Sydney to meet him. When I got the call I actually felt sick and knew then he was a keeper, well actually after I woke up the first morning with this large dog asleep with his big pointy head on my pillow I knew then. I had other foster greys after that and one I aaaalmost failed with, a gorgeous girl but she went to such a beautiful home and then along came little Miss Madeleine She was so little for a grey, thin, scared but sooooo cuddly and Stan just loved her!! That was it, a month later after getting some weight on her and her facial scars were healed they asked me if she was ready to go up for adoption and I knew she was staying as well. I don't have anywhere near the experience of rescuers here but I do know my gut feeling...and I was right :)
  11. The photo is just beautiful I have been following the FB page hoping and praying. Just little Cyan to go, come on little one.
  12. Oh Lhok I'm so sorry Run free Missy you were so very loved.
  13. A friend had a cat called Montague Augustus the 3rd, better known as Monty. No reason she just liked it. I knew a dog called Steve Stevens, it really suited him :)
  14. They must have been a Doug Mulray fan :)
  15. http://www.petbarn.com.au/dogs/dog-grooming/nail-trimmers/purina-petlife-nail-clipper.html I bought some similar to these at Petbarn about a month a go. I think they were this brand but they are stainless steel. They are super sharp as poor little Maddie knows when I cut one nail a leeeetle bit too short last time I think I should've got new glasses as well
  16. Ummm... I think you'll find that the dog in question was pts by the people who "rescued" him from MUP... turns out that MUP was quite right in her summation of said dog and that he needed to be given his wings, but the "professionals" decided that as MUP was new to the game, they knew better and made a big deal of taking him on - and eventually had him destroyed anyways. So maybe we need to give MUP the benefit of the doubt on this issue, yes? T. I am going on how she treated the dog while the dog was with her. I suggest you reacquaint yourself with the threads in question. We can all learn from the things we didn't do to everyone else's expectations Sheridan... and you have to agree that MUP has come a hell of a long way since that first foray into rescue... T. ETA - and the other rescue that took the dog from MUP didn't exactly treat him any better IMHO... By "professionals" I hope you are not referring to Efowler. Emma is a very respected rescuer who went above and beyond to help this dog and at least give it a chance with someone who KNEW this particular breed. I like Sheridan remember the whole debacle clearly and if you don't as suggested the threads are there.
  17. Lol. Thats really funny. Imagine yelling that at the local dog park. One of Kirislin's whippets is named Puck.
  18. Stans getting a meat pie for his birthday next week, no nutritional value whatsover but he loves them. No tomato sauce though, you never know what's in that stuff
  19. Geez my vet must be one out of the box, mine are done every three years on my vets recommendation.
  20. I have said it before I loathe them. As sas said seeing a dog come towards us 10 metres in front of it's owner (who quite often are texting away on their phone paying zero attention) is the last thing I need with sighthounds, especially one with a very high prey drive! I understand those experienced dog owners here that can use them properly but unfortunately none of you live in my suburb.
  21. My two greyhounds get sardines once a week, they love them and both have beautiful shiny coats. I buy the ones from Aldi, the ones in oil and tomato sauce and they get a tin of each flavour mixed together with kibble.
  22. Hhhmmm still don't know if I'd scale the fence
  23. My greyhounds have both their ears tattooed as racing greyhounds do, although I think only one ear is done now. One ear has their date of birth(month and year) and the other has a mixture of numbers and letters. Stans are quite faded but Maddies are bright green on her thin little white ears I think it would be bloody painful for them, greyhounds have very thin ears and sensitive skin and to have both ears done at once would be traumatic IMO.
