  1. That's lovely IM. Congrats Kirislin, I have been following the other thread and thought you maaaaaybe getting one :D
  2. He is getting there Aussie thanks for asking.
  3. I read this on the police website and was horrified. Very worrying that this dog hasn't been caught. And I'm just about to post a story in the News forum, a Pitbull that was attacking a Jack Russell has bitten the finger off the JRT's owner as she was trying to rescue her dog. Pitbull's owner was 80 yrs old .... Sick to death of reading about dog attacks. Yes I am too I saw the girl last night on the news that lost her finger trying to protect her JR, Christ what's going on.
  4. Didn't have a chance anyway Kirty, RIP Stan (not mine). It was horrendous, it was only for someone smashing the offending dog with a fire extinguisher to make it run off but by that time it was too late. Thanks Hankdog, my Stan is recovering ok :/
  5. Yes I am over offlead dogs and I am afraid to walk mine as they are muzzled by law. I don't have a problem with my greyhounds being muzzled as such but I do have a problem with people that think it's ok to have their dogs rush at mine and then cop the usual "no wonder those dogs have to wear a muzzle". There was a greyhound killed here on the Coast a few weeks ago on his daily walk, the offending dog ripped into his ears and then his throat and he died on the road in front of his devastated owner. This dog has not been caught and whilst it's not in my suburb I still shit myself everytime I take them out. Stan is recovering from a fractured skull and the last thing I need is some dickhead telling me it's ok cause his dog is friendly!
  6. Words can't say how sorry I am Amanda at your loss In my thoughts look after yourself.
  7. I'm surprised you didn;t hear her from your place. Poor little thing fell (was pushed accidentally) and landed face first I tried to send a couple of the pics through to the shelter today so they can see he is settling in and very happy Aaaww poor little chicken I bet spending the day with the WP menagerie cheered her up though :)
  8. I hope your neice is ok WP. Love the pics looks like Pepe has won the old man over :D I love seeing photos of Bob so please post away, with the amount of greys needing homes at the moment this thread just makes my heart sing.
  9. Aaaww look at those ears  Looking gorgeous in one of Annies coats, thanks for the update WP I needed this smile tonight.
  10. Or just maybe they went to a perfectly good home where they will live happily ever after. These dogs were from a greyhound trainer. While I'm hopeful for the dally if you had read the ad you would not be for the grey.
  11. Thanks Panto but the ad disappeared within a few hours of posting last night along with the 10 year old greyhound from the same person
  12. I have found a 12 year old female Dally FTGH in the Maitland area of NSW PM me for info.
  13. They don't always use ribbons they use stickers as well. There was a case here where a girl had the lock cut on her side gate and her two large dogs missing while she was at work, several days after they went missing she noticed a yellow sticker on the front of her letterbox. Now thankfully I have very observant neighbours and I can be a bit of a Dorrie myself but right now at 4.45pm it's cold and my curtains are closed so anyone could be walking around and I wouldn't see them.
  14. It's happening here as well. More so on the northern end of the Central Coast through to the Newcastle/Maitland/Cessnock areas. They use ribbons or stickers that are different colours, apparantly each colour means a certain breed/type of dog.
  15. In NSW a greenhound is allowed off leash in a designated off leash area but as Rebanne said it depends on the local council. http://www.greenhounds.com.au/what-is-a-greenhound.html
  16. You know I have been following your journey and I am so very sorry for the loss of your beautiful boy Run free Struppie, free with Strolchie Take care gwp4me
  17. Jelly please don't think I am having a go at you personally, I have not followed all of this thread but do know you have put in 100% for Roo and that is amazing. You are only going on what you have been told by the rescue group and obviously that information is incorrect. Greyhounds are my passion and would love them all to find homes but the right homes, you could have been put in a very dangerous situation not to mention other animals you could encounter on your walk. I do wish you all the best.
  18. A greenhound dog is a grey that has been approved through a GAP assessor and is then allowed to be muzzle free in public. The test is quite involved and not all will pass. My concern here is if you are walking Mia muzzle free without her being approved you are not only breaking the law but putting yourself, Roo and Mia in a potentially dangerous position. That is why I strongly suggested you foster through a reputable group such as GAP.
  19. Ok I'm confused here, is this the Mia you have from Kays Greys? http://kaysgreys.com.au/greyhounds-for-adoption/ because if she is the same one she is not advertised as being a greenhound approved dog.
  20. The green GAP collar? I wouldn't use a split lead either. If you are having trouble walking them then maybe a smaller dog would be better. I would think any dog with the right temperament would be good. What is happening with them tomorrow when you go back to work? Yes is she wearing a GAP greenhound collar?
  21. Yes greyhounds are usually very easy to walk, not a fan of dual leads for greys myself but that's just me. Is Mia muzzled?
  22. That sounds a bit odd. Can you have a look at her teeth? Right up the back? I would suspect periodontal disease myself rather then a bad tooth. Look for red lines along the gum line around the teeth. Otherwise things seem to be looking up. Ah yes you're right or as Mita suggested maybe something digestive? Her breath should not be so bad that Jelly can smell it when not even near her mouth. My first greyhound had periodontal disease, his breath stunk out the house within weeks of any dental. Our solution in the end was the removal of all teeth. Fixed that problem very well. Also had a cat that, in the end, needed all his teeth removed. Was also a big success. Thanks Rebanne that's interesting. So is there no cure for it other than to remove all the teeth?

  24. Any sort of thick brownish stuff, not just staining but a build up of...stuff.
