  1. Just saw it on the news Very brave of the father and son that smashed it with the six pack they had and then the son dragged it inside and locked it in. The dog has been PTS and the 92 year old is still critical
  2. Ta!!!!! Love to learn something new every day. The owner said many people would not go near his dogs. Their loss. It's a long and super memory Yep they are a special breed for sure glad you have fond memories.
  3. The grey colour you speak of is actually blue VM, my Stanley is blue :) and you don't have to be old to own a grey! Yes Stan is a lazy hound but my Maddie is like the energizer bunny, she would suit an active family and would make a great jogging partner which unfortunately neither Stan nor I are interested in  and yes greys are chronic leaners and most love affection. Dogmad that makes it hard but if anyone can find the perfect fit for them it's you :)
  4. Yes all of the above happened with my old boy at 16. He used to sit in the hallway and just stare out of the door with his misty eyes, the incontinence seemed to be stressing him as well and on his last night he was barking at the wall. I knew that Sunday morning when I took him to the vet he wasn't coming home My heart breaks for you Kirislin, as others have said when there is no quality of life anymore it's time to rest the weary bones Sending you strength and hugs
  5. How did you go today with the home check dogmad? Do you think a grey would fit?
  6. Yep greyhounds know greyhounds. I never believed it when the foster co-ordinator from my first greyhound adoption group told me but if mine see another grey they go bonkers.
  7. Foster fail!! He's gorgeous, love his name, please post lots of photos. Between Lenny and Neko I can get my Iggy fix ETA I love the beautiful Pia as well.
  8. Thanks trifecta :) I'm sure everyone was missing my amazing photo skills
  9. No I meant Stan would love it as a permanent gig. I did seriously think about it with Stan through the Delta programme as he really would be perfect, he's known as the love sponge amongst my friends lol, but Maddie freaks when Stan is not with her and as she's a nervy girl she wouldn't do well so I had to can it, I couldn't leave her home alone.
  10. That is so cute :) The greyhounds would eat him too!
  11. Greyhounds are being homed in nursing homes and retirement villages all over Australia now it's wonderful I know of one that lives in a nursing home here on the Central Coast and I remember reading a story in The Telegraph some time ago about a greyhound going into a nursing home in Sydney (I think) and a resident who had not come out of his room for a long time was smitten with the grey and it gave him a new lease on life. They are perfect dogs for the job with their easy going nature, no doggy smell and large enough for the residents to see and not trip over them. Stan would love it! all those beds, food and luuurve he'd be livin' the dream :)
  12. 15/52 A little oasis in the middle of suburbia.
  13. Fallen a few weeks behind since my greyhounds were attacked We haven't been able to go anywhere but just a few randoms to catch up. 14/52 My boy enjoying the sun through the loungeroom window.
  14. Nope can't say mine have any sixth sense, I've come home and peeked through the window to see Maddie asleep on the lounge legs in the air and Stan in my bed. As soon as the key goes in the door though all hell breaks loose
  15. Exactly. It would be sad if a rare breed should fall into the wrong hands wouldn't it?
  16. Regulation will happen. Mark my words. Quite frankly if any rescue debated very basic requirements in the care and rehoming of sheltered pets for adoption I would worry. It'll never happen Nic , I can only speak of greyhound rescue and I honestly despair for the breed I love
  17. No to a greyhound for me and just for the record I'm sick of a greyhound getting thrown into the mix when all other breeds don't fit
  18. Well for starters if you are leaving Melbourne and heading down to Bathurst you'll never get there, it's up :p Secondly just be careful on the road, Easter and Xmas are horrendous on the roads, take your time and as double demerits will be in force in NSW the cops will be everywhere. Enjoy your weekend and stay safe.
  19. Oh no Dave that is crappy indeed Jazz and Zues are so lucky to have you. Sending lots of postive vibes to you all.
  20. Kirty he was advertised on Gumtree as if I remember rightly the owner had developed an allergy to him, they then surrendered him to DAS. I agree that Nekhbet would be the one to contact.
  21. Thanks again everyone. I emailed the General Manager of GCC this morning and received confirmation that it had been received. He is swanning around China at the moment with the Gosford Mayor so I don't know when I will get a reply. I don't know whether to wait to hear from him before I go to my local member and the local paper :/ T I think it would be pointless turning up at Council with the dogs as my old neighbour did similar a few weeks ago after ringing the ranger a squillion times about the barking, escaping large bullbreed dogs that live next to her. The ranger had been twice but nothing had been done by the owners so she turned up with her diary of events and videos of the dogs barking for hours on end and was told no one could see her, it all had to be done via email.
  22. Sam you have made an apology thread as people suggested and admitted to the fact that your behaviour was unacceptable so at least you have tried. If you have learnt your lesson and are willing to work with reputable rescue, and by that I mean take everything on board without thinking they are still having a go but really listening and putting what they tell you into practise I can't see how you can do much more. For some you will be burnt forever and you just have to cop that on the chin if you are serious about establishing yourself again as a rescue. I do wish you the best, as Maddy said no one wanted you to fail in the first place.
  23. Yep I do exactly the same thing and it works a treat. Fast for 24 hours then 48 hours of nothing but poached chicken and rice, small portions morning and night. I would guess the kibble, Stan has the dodgiest guts and it doesn't take much to give him the squirts.
  24. Stan says everyone! He had his meat pie for lunch, which much to his disgust he shares with Maddie, and licked his bowl for about 5 minutes after he scoffed it. He's curled up on the lounge in his jammies awaiting his pipe and slippers
