I stayed at the Bushmans Retreat Pet Friendly Motel at Gundagai last week on my way to Melbourne from Sydney. It gets negative reviews on trip advisor but I'm so glad I ignored them as I thought it was fabulous. The young guy Yash that runs it couldn't do enough for us. The motel is old and dated but I prefer to look at as retro lol. The room was spotlessly clean, yes the trucks were loud as it's close to the Hume but I was so tired it didn't worry me. The dogs are allowed in the room and the homecooked meal I ordered, which was delicious and huge, was delivered to my room as I didn't want to leave the dogs. Plenty of room to walk the dogs, a tiny TV, microwave and fresh milk for coffee which is a rarity. I paid $85 for the night including the dogs midweek, can't beat that! I highly recommend it, tell Yash Lynn with the greyhounds sent you :) http://www.bushmansretreat.com.au/

I just left the Central Coast to live in Melbourne 3 days ago, I lived on the CC for almost 50 years, the last 30 in Terrigal. The CC is tick central, paralysis ticks are rife and getting worse every year. There is no tick "season" anymore there they are all year round. My vet at Erina Heights has a board that they write on reporting tick cases for each month in that clinic and it's an eye opener to see how many there are. I see you live at Point Clare, I grew up there and it's still quite a bushy suburb so yes you will need to be vigilant with daily body checks. I used Advantix on my old dog and he still got paralysis ticks, almost lost him once With my greyhounds I can't use any spot ons as they had allergic reactions to them, so it was daily checks. I pulled one of Stan a few weeks ago. What ever preventative you use still check daily, so glad I don't have to live with those evil creatures ever again.

The Solar Snake Repeller Scam (ripoff)

Yes we have them here in the Burbs, RBB's and Browns, so I'm always aware as I've lost two dogs to snakes when I lived in Griffith -

Perhaps though if she had access to early dental care things might be different? I think this looks fab as a prophylactic measure. For some yes but for her highly unlikely. Stan has never required a dental, his teeth are a little discoloured but not enough to warrant a dental yet. They eat the same things yet hers are terrible and his are fine I've been told shit teeth can be genetic but I don't know if that's true or not. I've had both my greys on the table having a quick scale at the vets without GA and neither of them care but to get right up the back and under the gumline would be impossible IMO.

A lot of racing greyhounds have bad teeth. When Maddie came to me at 2 years of age her teeth were green, I've tried the brushing, scaling, the liquids, daily bones you name it it does nothing for her.
-
I personally wouldn't use this. Maddie's teeth are rank, she has a full dental once a year under GA and while I loathe putting her under she really needs it done properly for her overall health.

Happy gotcha day Zig

I've had both my greyhounds for 4 years. We moved 14 months ago and Maddie was beside herself, firstly weeing on the floor when I started packing boxes and then weeing on the floor at the new house the minute I left for 4 months after we moved in. We are moving from Sydney to Melbourne next week and as soon as I started packing boxes she has started weeing on the floor again. Yes most dogs are adaptable but some just don't cope at all like Maddie and there's nothing I can do to make her understand that it'll be ok, she's just a stressy dog I'm expecting her to not settle again for quite a while and I just have to comfort her and wait until she thinks it's all ok.

Best update your review as it's been available in Coles for a while now. I've been feeding my greyhounds this since it hit the shelves and it's great. Finally a kibble that didn't give Stan the runs so it gets a big thumbs up from me, Supercoat was the only other kibble that didn't give him the runs and I'm sure that would get a glowing review :) You can read all the reviews you want but it goes back to the old "the best food for your dog is what it does best on".

Ronin, nice to see you have a greyhound friend

Yeah postage on the 500g pack is $14 something but that's just what postage costs in Aus unfortunately.

Stan loves the vet! He bounds in dragging me wagging his tail madly and trying to drag me out the back to the surgery, considering all the awful things that have happened to him I don't understand it but that's Stan. Maddie HATES it. She wimpers when we pull into the carpark and then trembles uncontrollably the whole time poor little chicken

Tips For Exercising Lazy Dog :)
HazyWal replied to brightstar123's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
 I thought that too, sounds exactly like Stan. -
That doesn't surprise me, they are very rich and fatty and that smell they give off ... Yes they do stink. I got given a kilo bag of them for my birthday last year, apparently I'm hard to buy for  and after they threw them up I donated the rest of the bag to my local pound. I don't give them pigs ears anymore either as Stan almost choked to death on one and Maddie got her tooth stuck through one and I couldn't get the bloody thing off!

Best First Aid For A Badly Cut Pad
HazyWal replied to DesertDobes's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Solugel. This stuff is brilliant my vet uses it all the time and recommends it highly for quick wound healing. Maddie sliced her pad badly and a couple of days of Solugel applied once a day and wrapped it was healed. You just buy it from the chemist. http://store.independenceaustralia.com/solugel-woundcare-gel-50g.html -
