  1. love the meme It's obvious Ronin in very gentle with Tigger even with rough play as greyhounds have skin like tissue paper that tears easily. I was picking a goober out of the corner of Stan's eye once and I actually took the fur off with my fingernail
  2. Throw a rug over it and think to yourself "things could be worse, I could have Stan"
  3. Agree with the others about ticks and snakes, I have friends that live in the area and both are a real problem.
  4. Oh no Nelsson was one of my favourite DOL doggies RIP handsome man, you were so very loved Take care ari.g.
  5. I know Oso! I could go quite mad on there  I got this ring for my birthday this year and I love it. https://theanimalrescuesite.greatergood.com/store/ars/item/42421/paw-ring?source=4-365-26
  6. Thanks Starkehre! Don't need a groomer as I have my own hydrobath and I only use that one a year now I've got the greys. Thanks for all the food recs, I'm going to do some driving around this week and check them out I never let mine offlead but I did go for a lovely walk along the foreshore yesterday along the bay trail from the lighthouse at McCrae back towards Rosebud. I went up one of the access points to the beach and I was blown away, not a soul to be seen as far as the eye could see. It was so beautiful :)
  7. Not sure if I posted this last year but this site has some great stuff for Xmas presents. I have ordered quite a few things from here over the last 12 months, postage is reasonable and delivery to Australia is fast, although this close to Chrissy it may take a bit longer. It's not only for animal and rescue related items if you look up the top of the page there are different causes to support. They have quite a few specials on at the moment too http://theanimalrescuesite.greatergood.com/store/ars/category/297/best-sellers?origin=ars_GOOGLE_ARSK_Bestsellers_20140602&gclid=CJPX8fOD_MECFYiCvQodQG0Arw
  8. Depends on how long you're going for? Janarlee can be a bit hit and miss but most of the negative comments I've heard are from greyhound owners. Playhouse Pet Motel at Wyee has recently changed hands, I have been there (not boarded) and it seems a pretty good set up. http://playhousepetmotel.com/ If it's only short term say a couple of days then Kireena Park Boarding Kennels at Erina Heights is great and very reasonably priced. I used to manage this kennel myself and Sharon that took over from me is really good. The kennels are older but clean and Sharon has dog walkers that walk them around the acreage. They also get playtime in the fenced pool area and she lives on site. I do not recommend Terrigal Pet Resort.
  9. Stan's eyeballs nearly popped out of his head VM, my two have never tasted peanut butter before and while Maddie was a bit meh good old Stanley was licking the spoon like a dog possessed
  10. have everything crossed you and everyone else will be safe. The mountains have been hammered by these awful fires too much lately.
  11. Thank you so much that's brilliant I used to drive 40 minutes, longer in traffic for my mince back home but as I have a freezer for bulk it was only once every two months. ETA I haven't tried anywhere as I only moved down here from north of Sydney a week ago so didn't have a clue where to look.
  12. I just saw this on the Melbourne news Stay safe everyone.
  13. Just wondering where on or near the Mornington Peninsula Vic I can find decent quality roo and chicken mince for my greyhounds. Stan does best on roo and Maddie has always had the chicken mince made from minced frames. I'm buying beef mince from the supermarket at the moment which is fine but I'd like to find a supplier where I can buy in bulk. Stuff like chicken wings and lamb flaps would be handy too. TIA :)
  14. They just jump in the car :D I have two that just travelled 1000k's in the back of a Hyundai Getz from Sydney to Melbourne as I just moved down here without a problem. You'll be surprised at how small they can curl up on the couch  I called into the GAP kennels at Seymour on my way through and they have a great set up there. It will be worth your while to make the trip believe me. ETA minimum requirement for GAP greys is that they must be small dog friendly.
  15. I still think you should consider fostering a greyhound from GAPVIC. I know you are saying you are unsure of large dogs but greys aren't your average dog. As I said earlier they have no smell, minimal grooming and are extremely affectionate. Greyhounds from GAP come muzzle free and if you find they are not the dog for you they can be returned at any time. Ex racing greys are used to set toilet breaks, they live a fairly regimented life in the kennels and they are a very clean dog. Larissa (gapvic) is a member here and would be more than happy to chat with you. Once you meet these gentle dogs you will fall in love...I guarantee that :)
  16. Peanut butter works The smooth probably would've been a bit easier than the chunky crunchy though
  17. Stunning photos everyone 42/52 Dromana Beach Victoria.
  18. Oh Kirislin I have no advice but just sending hugs from Me and the Hounds
  19. Wow thanks guys! I have all three things in the cupboard so I'll give them a go. It's been on there a week and it's hard and crusty so I want to get it off.
  20. I have recently moved house and at my last house I had massive pine trees in the small yard. Maddie has a patch of sap and dirt stuck to it on her ribs and and a bit near her leg and I cannot get it off for love nor money. She had a hydrobath last week and that didn't shift it at all. Any tips on how to remove it? TIA You can see it on her ribs in the pic...excuse Stanley flashing his bits to all and sundry
  21. Just bumping this thread to say I stayed at the Bushmans Retreat Pet Friendly Motel at Gundagai last week on my way to Melbourne and it was fabulous. The motel is very old and dated but it was spotlessly clean and as you can see the dogs are allowed inside :) It gets negative reviews on trip advisor but I couldn't fault it and the young guy Yash that runs it couldn't do enough for us. I ordered a home cooked meal which was huge and Yash delivered it to my room as I didn't want to leave the dogs, the dining room looks like an RSL bistro from the 70's  I stayed in room 21 which was closest to the highway so yes the trucks were loud but I was so tired I slept like a baby. I can highly recommend this place for a stopover. I did ring the Jolly Swagman at Holbrook first but the guy was so rude on the phone I gave him a spray and hung up on him http://www.bushmansretreat.com.au/
  22. I left all the lost and found groups on Facebook because of the sheer stupitidy of people and I won't be joining any down here now I've moved. They make me stabby.
