  1. Same here BCC although it's fostering I'd love to do again but not with Miss Maddie! Stan puts up with her bossy ways but sometimes even he looks at me and I'm like ...yeah I know buddy, I'm sorry about that
  2. Dave is no longer on their website so it looks like he may have found a home Oscar is still waiting for his forever home.
  3. Oooo I love this thread! Soooo many gorgeous faces T I remember watching Harper grow...and grow...and GROW  Trinabean serious Bruno in the first pic made me
  4. Loved both the vids Tigger seems to be the bossy one in this friendship lol
  5. I don't know why you find this concept so hard to grasp To quote Maddy... The kennel is obviously concerned with managing risk by entirely excluding certain breeds that are known to be prone to DA. Recognising that some breeds are higher risk does not mean they assume all other dogs are zero risk. If anything, the fact that they are aware that certain breeds are higher risk suggests to me that dog aggression and its management is something they're experienced in...end quote. One of my own greyhounds is fear aggressive, 100 times worse since she was attacked by one of the excluded breeds at this kennel, and because of her fear aggression this kennel will not take her during peak or busy times. It was explained to me that although it's impossible for her to escape her run she will disrupt and in some cases scare other boarders, not to mention she may hurt herself*. Something they are not willing to do and I fully understand and accept that.I personally think this is great management, yes my girl is excluded from this facility at peak times but I'm not offended by it nor do I think it's because they have no idea what they're doing, quite the contrary. Safety and comfort of all boarders is their top priority * greyhounds have very thin skin that tears easily often requiring stitches.
  6. Oh I wish but having ex racing greyhounds they are usually around 2 years of age when we adopt them. I would love to see photos of baby Maddie as she is so small now as an adult I think she would've been insanely cute as a puppy. I'm loving everyone's gorgeous pics though, what a lovely thread.
  7. If they don't board specific breeds due to perceived aggression issues, I would be concerned they think the breeds they do board are all friendly and perhaps not be cautious at all about potential issues between dogs? How do you know it's "perceived" and not experience? No concerns for me at all, a kennel that has been operating for many years, they board a lot of greyhounds and are greyhound owners/trainers themselves.
  8. Not necessarily depends how slack your council is. When two dogs escaped their yard and ripped into my muzzled on lead greyhounds causing shocking injuries the owner of the attacking dogs got the maximum fine and a slap on the wrist as it was first offense.
  9. Saw these photos this morning on FB and thought you might like them Kirislin. This is Mouse, rescue greyhound from Greyhound Angels Of WA. She has been lure coursing for a while and is quite good at it :)
  10. Yes she has to go to your local pound Sags which hopefully is not the LDH :/
  11. so it's a bit like the good ol'FLINT's medicated oil? That too is magic - but the smell!!! Dunno what that is Perse but yeah this stuff looks like vegemite but really thick and it smells like sump oil lol As Dancinbcs said it's magic stuff though.
  12. Oh I know I'm sorry DDD Although this thread probably isn't very successful at helping spread the word, I just love the oldies so much this is the only way I can feel like I'm helping in some way I guess HazyWal, this thread has been a great idea of yours It may help a senior find their retirement home and if it does then it is well worth it. Thanks valbitz, I also thought if someone was looking for a senior they could come to this thread and have a look through. We've got all shapes and sizes in here :) I got a bit excited when I noticed old Bill that I posted first had been taken off the list at SADS. I sent them a message but unfortunately they had just changed his listing to the medium dogs instead of the large They did thank us for sharing him though and hope his perfect family come along soon.
  13. Just a word of warning with the Ichthammol for those that have never used it, it's thick, black and if the wound can't be covered it will stain what ever it touches and you'll never get it out. I've never used it on my dogs but I've used it on myself and learned this lesson the hard way...as I do lol
  14. Oh I know I'm sorry DDD Although this thread probably isn't very successful at helping spread the word, I just love the oldies so much this is the only way I can feel like I'm helping in some way I guess
  15. This little sweetheart is Flossie she is listed as Maltese cross and is almost 11 years of age. She is waiting patiently at the Gunnedah RSPCA in NSW. http://adoptapet.com.au/animal/animalDetails.asp?animalType=3&state=2&searchTypeId=4&pagesize=15&task=view&tpage=5&searchType=4&animalid=365851 Flossie is no longer available, I hope this dear girl has a wonderful home.
  16. They really are besties aren't they? It's just wonderful to see :D
  17. Thanks Hazy Nah, Tigger is typical with poor recall :D but with Ronin there he won't take off. The spot is also well away from any roads. Ronin is getting very good with his recall now, but I wouldn't risk in a traffic area. I can say, "go get Tigger" and Ronin will run over to him, I then call "Ro Ro here" or a particular whistle I do and he comes back with Tigger in tow :) On their own it would be a risk neither of us would be prepared to take and I am not going to fall into trust complacency. Ah ok yes most are terrible with recall but I have seen a couple of greys that are quite good so I thought he may have been one of those, unlike mine who'd just flip me the bird and bolt
  18. Gorgeous! I love the photos in the river, has Tigger got good recall?
  19. That's exactly what I thought when I saw it
  20. Hmmm doesn't look like a bite to me :/ it's certainly not a graze. Could he have shoved his nose under a fence or in a shrub chasing a ball? Maddie scored herself a nice puncture wound in her shoulder a few weeks ago from a gnarly old plum tree near the fence as she was chasing the dog next door along the fence line. Maybe she didn't notice, I didn't see the one Maddie had
  21. Two dogs play a bluegrass duet
  22. There was nothing quivering, fragile or timid about the Iggy that wanted to rip into every dog on a greyhound walk I was on recently I actually thought of Arky as this dog looked exactly like him.
  23. Oh bugger. Can you maybe post this in Offtopic? More people will see it there, I have everything crossed someone can help your sister out here.
  24. Ninahartland lives in that area, maybe PM her and see if she knows anyone.
