  1. I would love to have kept fostering but I live in a rental property that JUST puts up with the two I have now.I feel like a bit of an imposter compared to all the hard working foster families like yourself
  2. No I didn't word that right I had six more fosters until I failed again!Sorry
  3. I got my first foster greyhound in Aug last year.Of course I fell in love with him on day one.Instant foster failure!I have only ever had male dogs my whole life and Stan grabbed my heart in the first 5 minutes.I still decided to foster more and had 5 foster greys after him,all females.Well poor Stan got bossed around by all these girls until foster failure number 6 came along.Little Maddie was only 22kg,12kg under Stan when I got her.She is the softest little girl. Her tail never stops wagging. She is so gentle and sweet. After Stan realised he wasn't going to get attitude he decided he was going to boss her around! He would growl at her if she got on the bed,he would pull a pigs ear out of her mouth,he would give her the evil eye if she got on the lounge he was awfull. Then one day he realised she loved him.I mean really loved him.She adores him! When I get up for work at 5am Mads is up with me.When Mr Nasty gets up about 10 mins later she can hear him.Her tail wags madly and I say to her is that Stan? The look on her face when his royal highness enters the room is priceless! When we go for a walk Maddie gets a bit shy with people and puts her head under Stan's belly like he's her security and he parts his hind legs to make sure she's safe. This week has been horendous with the rain and to watch them play tug-o-war in the house with no drama has been gold.Stan now has respect for the little girl that adores him.It amazes me me that I have two dogs that until a few months ago had never met each other and now are like two peas in a pod!Don't get me wrong Stan still gets the sh#ts when she outruns him in the backyard or when she pushes her squeaky toy in his face for ages and he roars at her but isn't it great when you know they have they really do love each other
  4. There was something on here recently about the slow feeder bowls and everyone seemed to agree they really do work.I must get one for my grey because he basically "ïnhales" his food.
  5. My two are not the brightest stars in the sky!I busted Maddie yesterday with a bag of frozen chicken wings off the sink heading into my bed.MMmmm would have been nice tucked away between the flannenettes!Stan does bring me his food bowl when the Bold and the Beautiful starts does that count as smart
  6. Putrid poor excuses for human beings
  7. Mine don't care.Mind you Stan would try to give me mouth to mouth if I died before dinner time!
  8. He's gorgeous!Definately a Frank or Bruce from me
  9. After party and cake there's only one thing left to do at that age!Have a little nursing home nap!Happy birthday gorgeous Ollie
  10. I think that is a ridiculous law.My dogs never wear a collar at home as my last dog got stuck by his collar under the house once when I was at work.I don't know how long he'd been stuck there so I've never collared my dogs at home since.I too thought microchipping was a permanent form of ID.Obviously I'm wrong.Sucks you got fined for that.
  11. I don't think he's harsh maybe that's why I'm single,just me and the dawgs.
  12. As I am only fairly new to DOL I apologise in advance if this question has already been asked BUT where did your dog's name come from?I have two rescue greyhounds which I changed both of their names when I got them.I have a big blue boy whom I named Stan and a little white and brindle girl whom I named Maddie(or the divine miss "M").Stan comes from a wonderful old barman I used to work with who used to love the "dishlickers".Maddie's original name was Skye.I think a very peaceful name but from the day she walked in my house as a foster I new she was mad!Mad as a cut snake my girl but SO much personality so Maddie it was. Both foster failures that I adore.I just love human names. When I worked at a boarding kennel we had a dog named Steve, his surname was Stevens,Steve Stevens it still cracks me up!So where did you get your dog's name from?
  13. I would love a Subaru outback but I got a Hyundai Getz 2 years ago(much cheaper)and then I got two greyhounds! When the seats are down you would not beleive how much room there is.We shoot up the F3 to friends at Hawks Nest and they are happy as in the back.
  14. My greyhound Maddie is not a burier but an obsessive hole digger. We live 10 houses from the beach but if she keeps going we'll be waterfront by the end of the week!
  15. I think I pretty much love all breeds although I do tend to favour the larger dogs after working in a boarding kennel for 4 years.I had two huge Rotties that boarded with me regularly and when other dogs came in they would go off their nut!Open the run door and they would lick your feet!Go over and clean the small dog kennels and you take your life in your hands(you gotta be quick to beat those little suckers). But when I walk my dogs I'm wary of all breeds because I have greyhounds.MUZZLED.My dogs love all dogs large and small.I don't go near the unleashed area but it's almost daily that I struggle with unleashed dogs just walking down the street.I'm lucky I start work early(5am) so home early and pick my times when I walk them but I'm always looking for other dogs.
  16. When my little grey Maddie sticks her nose up at the kitchen when I'm cooking one simple excuse me sees the nose go down, the tail wag and the doe eyes come out! When she jumps on the bed and my big grey Stan is already up there and he gives her the evil eye I say "Excuse me be nice to your sister".His head goes straight under his foot as if to say "ok but I never asked for a little sister"! :D
  17. What a big heart you have.Whilst Harper will always hold that special piece in your heart their is plenty left in that heart to love another special doggy when the time is right.
  18. RIP beautiful girl.Bless.
