Second is Sandy the Labrador. Sandy is 13 and a half years old and does have arthritis which she is being treated for. She is a happy loving old soul who loves all other animals and kids she really needs a warm home this winter. Sandy is available from the Somersby RSPCA on the Central Coast NSW. http://www.adoptapet.com.au/animal/animalDetails.asp?animalType=3&state=2&searchTypeId=4&pagesize=15&task=view&tpage=5&searchType=4&animalid=421872 * I must make note that Somersby is a wonderful shelter that is the local one back home. They will definately work with REPUTABLE rescue, myself and Maddy have worked with them to rescue greyhounds from the shelter and the manager and staff are fantastic. They would bend over backwards to get this old girl out of the shelter environment I'm sure.

I couldn't decide this week so I have two golden oldies to list. First up is Bella the Boxer. Bella was surrendered to the shelter as her owners could not look after her anymore, she loves kisses and cuddles and is in good health. She seems to get on with all types of animals she meets at the shelter. Bella is available from the Illawarra RSPCA in NSW http://www.adoptapet.com.au/animal/animalDetails.asp?animalType=3&state=2&searchTypeId=4&pagesize=15&task=view&tpage=3&searchType=4&animalid=422985

Yes I posted that here a few years ago, a Galgo I think? :/

Same here including fosters so with two greyhounds and a humungous stuffed crocodile that Maddie won't sleep without there aint much room at the inn I can tell you. Good thing is greyhounds sleep like the dead, there's no wandering in this house except for me and my weak bladder and turning on the light gets a death stare from both of them

Thanks to the wonderful Dogmad (again :D ) Patch has been adopted and will have not only a wonderful furever home but an 8 year old whippet brother!! Jane and Iggy Rescue.
-
No worries, good luck and enjoy your retirement :) more time for photography?

Maybe print up some flyers and put them in vet clinics. I know my old vet at Erina Heights has a large notice board for people to advertise on. Have you placed an ad in the Central Coast Express? They used to do that "run it till you sell it" so it was only a one off fee, not sure if they still do I don't live there anymore.

Greyhound Needs Rescue
HazyWal replied to Baby Dragon's topic in Dog Rescue (General Rescue Discussion)
Baby Dragon I'm guessing Rascalmyshadow may be able to help here so can you get some basic info from your friends about the dog? Location, sex, dog/cat friendly, those three questions will help. -

Try Greyhound Safety Net http://www.greyhoundsafetynet.org/ Greyhound Rescue Victoria https://www.facebook.com/pages/Greyhound-rescue-victoria/642879675743681?fref=photo Gumtree Greys. Based in QLD but rescue from NSW and Victoria. http://www.gumtreegreys.com.au/ Any info on the dog? Sex, cat/small dog friendly, age, reason for surrender? Another option would be Save A Dog Scheme (SADS) in Glen Iris Melbourne, they are a no kill shelter that often get greyhounds. -
Is this the same place :/ the reviews are certainly not glowing O.o https://www.google.com.au/?gws_rd=ssl#q=animal+aid+protection+society&lrd=0x6ad6131fc6afa7af:0x643e29ec75c55b38,1

Thanks so much LT, I adore the oldies and wish I could help more.

Patch is a 7 year old whippet who is looking for his forever home at SADS in Melbourne Victoria. His profile gives no info so I'm guessing he's a newbie and not much is known about him. Please contact SADS for any info. http://saveadog.org.au/animals-adoptions/601/medium-large-dogs/785/

Stan has been going grey since he was about 4, he was 7 a few weeks ago and just in the last 12 months it's spreading quickly. Kirislin took this pic of Iggy Mum feeding fat boy :)

I for one will not jump on you...welcome to the world of greyhound rescue you've hit the nail right on the head there.

Yes and I have the gall to call him dumbo
-
I've always thought Poodles were the smartest breed (not bagging other breeds) but I do remember reading a really interesting article years ago about them and to be honest I always thought of them as primped up, poofy (as in fluffy) looking dogs that walked around looking embarrassed that they had a bald arse and a pom pom on their heads I've seen dogs of all breeds, mixed breeds included that are what I would call smart as an average dog owner but if someone asked me the question of which is the smartest breed I would have said Poodles.

Run free Dennys Dog I'm so sorry for your loss Helen

 Stan maybe as dumb as a box of rocks but when it comes to food he's a Rhodes Scholar! Maddie on the other hand is an evil genius O.o and I can't even see the cat :/ don't tell me they were stupid enough to put it next to the greyhound :p Dumber than a box of rocks is a phrase I use often with my two as well They may not be bright but they have us wrapped tightly around their paws... Exactly, we say it with luuuurve :) It doesn't upset me I love my dumbo just the way he is...everyone should have a Stanley in their life :D

Yep I was trying to pull a tick off Stan that was actually a nipple. Luckily it was him and he was screaming at me (as you would) because if it was Maddie I could've ripped that sucker right off as she has a very high pain tolerance
-
And we have a winner
-
Luckily a bestie is a vet nurse which saves me the embarrassment of my vet giving me the O.o look over his glasses. Like my panicked call to her about this weird lump Stan had on his throat when I first got him which turned out to be his voice box
-
Now I feel slightly less stupid for taking my dog in to have that weird little black lump removed from his chest- which turned out to be one of his nipples At least you didn't try to pull a nipple off thinking it was a tick (I will admit to picking at it. In my own defense though.. if you don't want your nipple to be mistaken for something else, don't have a randomly black nipple when all the rest are regular dog nipple coloured) Lucky in a way it was Stan so of course he was screaming (as you would) until I realised. If it was Maddie I could've pulled that sucker right off and she wouldn't have made a sound, she has a very high pain tolerance.
